Customer Reviews
This trip is aptly titled. It was truly the contrasts of Switzerland. Incredible mountain scenery, urban cities, farms and farmers. Excellent!
Many spectacular sights and experiences, such as the cable cars up to the Klein Matterhorn and Stanserhorn -- unforgettable! Lovely cruise on Lake Lucern, though the day was hot. The train rides were comfortable, but we missed the Interlaken region because of a broken-down train -- not Trafalgar's fault at all. Inspiring though brief visit outside the former League of Nations building, now the Palace of Peace. The conclusion was a fun evening at the Swiss Chalet supper club, with Swiss food, songs, yodels, mountain horns -- and a conga line. All in all, a great taste of Switzerland!
Disappointed that the optional excursions were changed and we had not received prior notification of the changes. In Geneva we had a drive by to kill time before our luggage arrived and only dinner at a restaurant. Would have enjoyed the Geneva Lake cruise as previously described. The lake cruise instead occurred in Lucerne when we had four optional experiences in one day. This made for a very tiring last day, although they were all excellent experiences. We chose the itinerary based on most of the optional experiences and from day one they were changed. Loved the Matterhorn optional experience, but the Ambassador Hotel was outdated and could have been cleaner.
It was a delight to travel around Switzerland on comfortable trains, with large windows and great scenery. The optional excursions took us to high altitudes with spectacular views.
The attraction of this holiday is the ability to sit and relax, look at the views (on both sides) and enough space to move around the train and not feel cramped. We visited lots of great places, saw many fantastic views, tasted delicious food, ascended to 13,00ft and walked under a glacier.
