Travel from Kathmandu or Pokhara to the UNESCO-listed Chitwan National Park, where lush jungles and riverine habitats shelter endangered species like the one-horned rhino, Bengal tiger, and a kaleidoscope of birdlife.

Each day brings new explorations: visit a traditional Tharu village to learn about indigenous culture, embark on elephant safaris and canoe rides, and marvel at elephants and crocodiles in their natural environment. Birdwatching at dawn adds a tranquil finale before your return journey.

day 1 - Kathmandu – Chitwan

Drive out of the Kathmandu Valley and follow the scenic Prithivi Highway all the way to Chitwan. Meet your tour representative who will take you to your hotel in Chitwan. Check in at the hotel and freshen up. Your guide will brief you about the safari while having lunch.

Enjoy a short rest before visiting a village of the ethnic Tharu people. Take a short hike through the village and visit an ethnic museum. Watch sunset from the bank of the River Narayani. Enjoy your dinner while watching a Tharu cultural program.

day 2 - A full day at Chitwan National Park

Enjoy a day full of adventure. Take a canoe on a ride, walk through a dense, tropical jungle and go on an elephant safari. See the endangered one-horned rhinos. You might even get to see Bengal tigers and leopards, among other animals. Visit an elephant breeding centre.

day 3 - Birdwatching and departure

Go out for birdwatching in the morning. The national park is home to a large variety of local and migrant bird species, several of which are endangered. Depending on the time of year, common sightings include Brahminy ducks, kingfishers, egrets, and paradise flycatchers. Return to your hotel for breakfast then transfer to Kathmandu or Pokhara.
