This was a very busy tour that delivered everything that was promised and plenty more! Our tour leader, Abdullah, was absolutely incredible, his knowledge of his country was second to none, he was always willing to answer questions, friendly, approachable and a brilliant sense of humour! Our driver, Mohammed was absolutely excellent too! The tour is well planned out to fit everything in, days are busy and you do need a good pair of walking shoes and plenty of energy for Petra, but having two days there is perfect to be able to see it all. Petra by night was incredible and I highly recommend this. The night in the desert was just amazing, to be in such a place, the 4x4 tour excellent and the opportunity to ride a well cared for camel excellent too. The red sea was lovely, and I recommend the boat trip! And floating on the dead sea surreal. I arrived a day early and had an extra night before the tour and I'd highly recommend this, as flights into Jordan from the UK arrive late and this means that you can have a more relaxed first day. It also gives the opportunity to see more of Amman, I went to the Jordan Museum which was absolutely excellent and also to Rainbow Street. Both places worth seeing and not part of the Tour. Jordan has seen it's visitor numbers drop drastically in the past couple of years due to a war that has never been theres. Tourism has suffered, yet we never saw or heard any trouble or felt unsafe while we were there. It is, and it remains a safe country to visit, the people are very welcoming. Places like Petra are very quiet at the moment, so it's a great time to visit.

This tour was a great mix of mainland Greece and the Islands. Lots of history and the visits to the ancient sites were all conducted by really knowledgeable guides. Accommodation was first class and the Insight guide, Lisa was amazing.

Our tour director, driver and lical experts were great. The bis was new and clean. The tour had us up early, but it did seem to get us into sights when the crowds were smaller and the temps lower. I would keep the local tours to one hour. Our driver, claudio, maneuvered the bus in ways i would not have thought possible. Barbara was very easy to listen to.

We had an amazing Tour Director, Sonia Santos, which made the trip more enjoyable. The food was good, accommodation good and loved the varied optional tours. If you want to see southern Spain I would recommend this tour.

Joe was a great leader. Keeping us in check, and providing us with a wealth of knowledge in both animal and bird life. His tracking skills were second to none. Camping was basic, but it allowed closer encounters with wildlife. Being sent to sleep with the sounds of lions and hippos was special. The itinerary was really well thought through, providing days of luxury between days of camping. Great food cooked on open fires, with all camp teams helpful and friendly. All in all a great experience. Botswana, you were special. Would recommend.

South East Asia — Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

On a tour to South East Asia, its sights and sounds are sure to leave you spellbound. From the gentle lapping of waves on tropical beaches to the towering megacities — spectacular sights and joyful locals will make any holiday to South East Asia one you’ll remember for years to come.

Tour Highlights

  • Float silently above the temples of the UNESCO-listed Angkor Wat complex in a hot air balloon as dawn breaks in a riot of colors. Cambodia’s foremost attraction, the temples are a dazzling demonstration of artistic and religious devotion.
  • Grab a guide and follow the trail to the summit of Mount Kinabalu, Malaysia’s highest peak at 4,100 m as it rises majestically out of the jungles of Sabah in northeastern Borneo.
  • Explore the vibrant urban life and ornate street shrines of Bangkok as you take in the magnificent sights of the Grand Palace, former residence of the kings of Thailand, and the riverside temple of Wat Arun Ratchavararum.
  • Seek out the neighborhood hawker centers of Singapore, where you can enjoy some of the freshest and tastiest cuisine the region has to offer — from spicy crab to the curries of Little India.
  • Drift among the thousand islands of Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, where the bare rock of the many grottoes and coves contrasts perfectly with the tree-topped isles, gentle waters, and traditional fishing villages
  • Uncover the natural wonders of Indonesia’s Komodo and Flores Islands, where beneath the waves you’ll find a thriving world of colorful fish and above them you’ll find the famed Komodo dragons, the largest lizard in the world.

Travel Tips

  • The best time to visit the bulk of South East Asia is between November and February, with December and January offering the driest days and coolest temperatures. March to May sees temperatures begin to rise, while from June to October the region is hit by tropical rains
  • Make sure to agree the cost of a taxi before you settle down in the back seats, otherwise you could end up facing a long argument with the driver at your destination, alongside a hefty and unfair charge
  • Pack a shawl or sarong to help cover up when entering religious buildings like temples or mosques, they can be wrapped around the shoulders, head, or legs for modesty, and are also useful during cooler evenings
  • While freshly prepared and piping hot street food is perfectly safe to eat, avoiding drinking anything but bottled water where you can see the seal is unbroken, or invest in a reusable bottle with an inbuilt filter.
  • Try and match your travel dates with local festivals. South East Asia boasts many incredible celebrations throughout the calendar, from Chinese New Year to Diwali that show these countries at their laid-back best.
