If you want to hit the ground running this fast-moving classical tour of in Ancient Egyptian history is for you. You'll cover much of the country, visiting more than a dozen iconic locations. Many important temples, tombs, pyramids, museums and other sites are included or offered as extras. There are also options to meet modern Egyptians and immerse in their culture. Time spent on the Nile cruise, felucca boat trips and in a hot air balloon give exhilarating opportunities to catch your breath and provide other unmissable perspectives.

With every trip I have done with Explore, the guides were excellent. Charlotte, the Greek island wander guide matches this excellence and then easily exceeds it. Because of how thorough, friendly and helpful she was, the trip was superb from end to end and for every detail. Even when I had free time, if I asked for information about what I planned to do, she was helpful. Every question was answered with a smile The trip itself was fantastic; a wonderful balance between tour led excursions, hikes and free time

I loved the pace and selection of activities. I also really loved the immersive experience we got given by the wonderful tour director Pamela and knowledgeable tour leaders in each city. I felt at home in the be our guest dinners( all very top notch, impressive meals), and because of Pamela’s kind, friendly demeanor and fun personality, felt a part of a big family with our group members. This is a perfectly balanced experience to visit the northern parts of Italy.

Booking with Explore is easy and straightforward. The ability to log in to your account to add and check details is excellent. Explore are always keeping you up to date with your trip. My trip to Peru was amazing. Wonderful country, landscapes, food, culture. The Explore itinerary captures all the highlights without the hassle of organising yourself. Julio was a great tour leader. Friendly, funny, well organised and professional. We didn't have to worry about anything with Julio looking after us.

Fantastic trip to Sri Lanka, we saw and learnt so much from our wonderful tour leader Mimi. A full on tour with so much packed in, plus extras suggested by our guide. Hotels all very good, clean with excellent food choices. We visited so many Buddhist and Hindu temples, for our daily blessings, each one, quite different from the other in size and material used to form them. We saw beautiful caves filled with statues and wall paintings. We climbed Sigiriya or Lion rock before breakfast, and were so pleased that the whole group made it to the top. We went on three safaris seeing elephants, deer, buffalo, many species of birds and even saw the elusive leopard. We visited many different workshops displaying local crafts, and the production of them, and even had a blissful Ayurvedic massage one afternoon. All in all a great tour, with like minded people, and we would thoroughly recommend it The cruise around the beautiful islands and the turquoise atolls of the Maldives was much needed to unwind from the fast pace of Sri Lanka. No Wi-Fi meant time to fully relax, read and rewind. The cabins were small but had sufficient places to unpack and put things away, and the en-suite compact but adequate. Visited different reefs twice a day to snorkel around and the crew and tour leader Suja were always there to point out the different flora and fauna. They even dived down with our cameras to make sure we got some amazing photos, and also not being a strong swimmer myself, they made sure I was always safe and supported. The food was excellent with the chef producing three delicious meals a day plus snacks and drinks. We moored up at night near sandbars and deserted islands where we watched the sunset with a nice gin and tonic. We visited a couple of inhabited islands, and were invited to a drumming performance and ended up dancing quite enthusiastically. We snorkelled with sharks before breakfast and with turtles before lunch, not many people can say that. We booked this holiday to celebrate our Golden Wedding, and both tours surprised us with very special celebrations, which we shall hold in our memories forever and to share it with the lovely people we met, now friends, made it even more special.

October is hot so be prepared for that. It also means there are a lot of animals early mornings and evenings and it was wonderful to watch a family of elephants with their babies rolling around in the mud and a family of lions with 2 cubs annoying their big sister. The food was great. In the basic camp it was cooked on a log fire with lots of fruit and veg. Our guide Sam was superb finding animals identifying birds and great fun. There are long journeys on roads which are not great. Tiring

Southeast Asia Cruise Travel Tips

  • As you’ll travel through a variety of climates on a Southeast Asia cruise, make sure you pack for all weather (including bringing waterproofs for monsoon seasons).
  • Some Southeast Asia ports are located a good 2 – 3 hours from the city center and the area’s main attraction, so always factor this into your time on land. It’s sometimes best to book a guided tour into the city, that way you’re learning new things as you travel!
  • Research what currency you’ll need for each country and make sure you bring plenty of cash, not just your bank card.
  • On Southeast Asia cruise tours, you’ll likely be visiting multiple different countries so be prepared to fill out paperwork. The cruise lines will likely deliver required paperwork to your stateroom the day before entering a new country, but always check what’s required in advance.
