We decided to include a city tour of Cusco instead of the Humantay Lake hike as this would have been to strenuous for one of our friends, and this decision was perfect. It was a great recommendation by Erik who helped us with our itinerary. During our time in Peru, Pilar was exceptional with 24/7 assistance, helping us make reservations in restaurants and being there for us no matter what. Superb! All the sites visited were worth it. Not too many people (except from Machu Picchu which was very crowded of course) and what we loved was that we arrived before the crowds. The company promised big time on that and they OVERDELIVERED! Overall a great trip with a phenomenal CEO in JC however the Puno portion of the trip and the kayaking left a bad taste in the mouth. It very much felt that we were being shipped to different locations just to give people money for things we didn?t want and the kayaking itself was just an hour and a half of straight paddling from one island to another. I would recommend avoiding Puno if possible.

Initially before booking the trip I thought it was extremely overpriced. However(our tour guide) was fantastic. He made the trip worth every penny and was extremely organised and knowledgeable. The locations were great, and the activities were really cool. was a fantastic character, and became a friend by ensuring we all had fun. He looked after and catered for everyone’s needs and requirements, promoting safety above all else, and more than once went the extra mile to ensure we all had a great time (joining myself at CrossFit and his traditional dance moves were personal highlights). I hope he gets the recognition he deserves, as I would love to book a similar trip with Contiki in future because of this great experience. I would also recommend that you include huacachina in future - I went there on my own and it was one of the coolest experiences - maybe this could be added as an extra at the beginning of the trip.
