This long weekend trip packs in a lot without feeling rushed or overwhelming. It's a good combination of town and country, with a touch of good fun tourism included in the trip to Bran Castle. Accommodation was as described and very comfortable. Romania has a fascinating history and the food is great. Our guide was brilliant and we had a terrific time. Highly recommended.

Discover a wonderful corner in Romania that will charm your heart with its greenery, quietude and rural villages forgotten by the rest of the world. Visit the Danube Delta, unique due to its beauty and biodiversity despite being located just a couple of hours away from Bucharest, which makes it a perfect destination for a getaway.
Travel to a traditional fishing village located in the heart of the Danube Delta, Mila 23. The village was founded by the Lipovans, a group of Russian refugees, and it blends in perfectly with the surrounding sceneries. Take a day trip to one of the oldest human settlements in Romania.
Go out on a boat ride to Letea, a beautiful village filled with numerous traditional houses built with wood and clay, with thatched roofs painted in lively shades of blue and green. Travel to the nearby Letea Forest, the northernmost subtropical forest in Europe, and see the world’s only oak forest on salty sands as well as lianas, a subtropical plant that cannot be found elsewhere in Romania.
This 4-day tour will bring you close not only to the unique flora and fauna of the area but also to the cultural heritage preserved in local villages.
Very organized. The time was well used to see major sites and to get a feel for the history and daily life. The tour was responsive to our request to include some outdoor, active activities in addition to sightseeing. The local guide was very good, knowledgeable and genial. Importantly, he was a good driver. The hotels were well selected, except for the one in Cluj which was a bit out of the center.
Even without its bloodcurdling myths of Dracula, werewolves, haunted castles and curses, Romania is the perfect atmospheric place to spend an eight-day trip in October. You’ll be introduced to the beauty of ancient Bucharest, the haunting mythology of Sighisoara and the nostalgic atmosphere of Bran Castle (aka Dracula’s castle) in Brasov. Take a daytrip to the Hoia Forest, steeped in legend and ghost stories and dress up for a party after sundown with your fellow travellers. For a spine-tingling adventure this spooky season, don’t look past Transylvania... mwahahaha.

Danilo our Tour Director is one of the very best. This is my 13th Trafalgar your and I can say that Dani was the perfect blend of fun, smart, organized and energetic. Slobodan our bus driver was amazing. They both are now legends for me!
The tour was comprehensive and covered a lot of ground. Seven countries! Great agenda and inclusions. Our Be Our Guest excursion to the Winery and our farewell dinner on our last night are two of the best inclusions I have experienced in my many tours.
I will continue to travel with Trafalgar. I believe as a tour company you offer fair prices, nice hotels, variety of experiences, and enjoyable itinerary.

This is the 10th Explore holiday, we have covered places like Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, India and this just covers 5 holidays.
These are not for everyone, as some are very full on, but the two Balkan trips were easy, although some of this group had not read the itinerary properly and this was a bit too much for them!
The Cuba and South America were what I call, sanitised back packing, as sleeping out in the open and you can have very early starts, around 4 am and late finishes.
However, you really see the place and interact with the local people. This is why we love Explore tours.
If you want total comfort and not really interact, then Saga or like is for you, as you do have to rough it on some trips.
One trip in particular was India, two days going up the Ganges on a wooded raft, inches from the water and sleeping on the bank at night with the snakes and wild dogs, just an amazing experience, and you know you are alive!
Another was in the jungle of Cuba, no tent, just under the stars, but I did get attacked by the smallest ants in the night, but still a fantastic experience, one I won’t forget!
Our tour guides have all been very good, but on this trip, Constantin went beyond the norm.
The only criticism on this trip was no local experts and Constantin had to do it all, which makes it very difficult for him to become an expert in every area, town etc.
