Get up close and personal with the nightlife in San Jose, starting with the Central Market, which, in our opinion, is the only way to learn about the city’s food (aside from eating it, which we’ll get to!). Stroll the market with your local guide and get to know the secrets and uses of the roots, herbs, and fruit common in local cuisines, including ingredients that will play a role in your authentic Costa Rican dinner later. The locals say that you can get anything you need at the Central Market, even love potions for attracting a boyfriend or girlfriend…wink.
After the market, we’ll make our way down Central Avenue, enjoying a trip down San Jose’s memory lane, learning about the city’s history and anecdotes, as well as visiting one of the most architecturally beautiful buildings in San Jose, the National Theatre.
From there, our appreciation for San Jose’s historical architecture continues, with a walk through Morazan Park to enjoy the Metallic Building, then on to Spain Park for a fantastic view of the Yellow House (now the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
We’ll continue to charming Barrio Amon, one the oldest neighborhoods in San Jose. Designed by Amon Fasileau, a Frenchman who settled in the area, it has become one of the most scenic parts of the city, boasting a rich, architectural history.
We’ll be spending the rest of the evening at a favorite local restaurant that specializes in wine and gourmet food.

Grab this opportunity to visit to some of the most spectacular lagoons in Costa Rica during a one-day tour. Leave La Fortuna at around 7:30 am and drive for 1.5 hours through the plains of San Carlos, located on the outskirts of Juan Castro Blanco National Park, until you reach the Hule Lagoon. On arrival, prepare for your hike to the volcanic lagoons. Start your journey through the pastures that border the forest of the volcanic caldera where the Hule Lagoon is located.
Popularly referred to as the Hule Lagoon, this beautiful lagoon is spread over an area of 55 hectares (136 acres) and is located at the base of the Cerro Congo Volcano, 11 km (6.83 miles) away from the famous Poas Volcano. This area is renowned for its excellent trekking trails due to the variety of sceneries and terrain it offers, ranging from clay to dirt, volcanic rocks and grasslands.
Travel through a rainforest during your descent. Enjoy incredible views of primary and secondary lagoons along your way. Along the 8 km (5 miles) circuit trail, you will visit 2 of the 3 most important lagoons of the area, ranging from 15 to 55 hectares in surface area.
After this amazing and intense 3-4 hour hike, you will arrive at the main observation point, where you can savor a delicious, traditional Costa Rican lunch.

Join us on this four-hour tour that takes you to one of the most popular birdwatching destinations in Costa Rica. We will meet you at your hotel at 5:15 am and drive you to Arenal Mundo Aventura Natural Park, where we will reach at around 5:30 am.
Follow the circuit trail that takes you through a varied landscape including a dense forest, a regenerating forest with pastures and open areas and small streams that allow the observation of a variety of colorful birds.
Among the most common birds that can be seen in this place are the great kiskadee, yellow tyrannulet, Montezuma oropendola, wing-barred seedeater, tropical kingbird, red-billed pigeon and the groove-billed ani. In addition to these, this place is also home to less common resident species such as the slaty spinetail, which makes an elaborate nest upon an impressive platform of twigs; and the laughing falcon, a large hawk whose presence is an indicator of a healthy environment.
You might even spot a black-cheeked woodpecker and Guianan trogons. Among the aquatic birds in the natural park are the uniform crake and the white-throated crake. The walk will come to an end at around 9:30 am. There is a 30-minute break for a delicious continental breakfast accompanied by juice, fruit and hot coffee.
If you prefer a more technical tour that include other types of birds as well, you can choose between nine alternate options and go for a semi-private tour. We will assign a specialized guide by reservation. Among the additional options we offer are birdwatching at Lake Arenal, Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge, Danaus Ecocenter, El Silencio Reserve, Juan Castro Blanco Cloud Forest and Children’s Eternal Rainforest.
Excellent trip with Gracie, I did things I never would have tried by myself such as rappelling down waterfalls and ziplining 1.5km. Saw some amazing wildlife and met some great people.
