Tokyo Tours and Trips

1,359 reviews on bookmundi

A dazzling metropolis that has a stoically traditional vein through under its ultra-modern facade, a Tokyo tour is a juxtaposition in itself. Straight out of a sci-fi film, modern Tokyo pushes the boundaries of what’s believable, even in this day and age – and yet the Imperial past is always close by. No matter how brief your trip to Japan is, it is a must that you visit Tokyo.

Tokyo Tour Reviews

Guest reviews from travelers on tours in and around Tokyo

My family and I really enjoyed our trip to Japan. We were able to visit Japan's biggest cities thanks to this tour in a short time. This trip was special since we were celebrating a few milestones. However, we would have liked to spend 1 or 2 extra days in Tokyo to explore other prefectures. We especially appreciated all activities, such as the drumming lessons, the okonomiyaki cooking class and the Momiji Manju cake making. We highly liked our day in Nara when we visited a pottery shop (where we were able to interact with artisans) , ate a homemade traditional Japanese lunch and visited a tea plantation. We strongly recommend this tour.

The trip was way more than expected. The group was amazing and my tour manager was so informed and help us a lot with a lot of activities as well. This trip is my favorite Contiki so far.

Absolutely amazing trip. Sam our guide was phenomenal, his knowledge and insight in to Japanese culture was second to none. His infectious enthusiasm for showing us not only the sights on the tour, but other little nuggets made the trip exceptional. We had a fabulous group of fellow travellers. This was our first ever group tour holiday, and we will be doing this again for sure with Explore. Organisation was spot on, accommodation perfect and the transport arrangements, forwarding of luggage, all went without a hitch. Sam made the trip for us, it wouldn’t have been the same without him!

This was a great itinerary staying 3 days in Tokyo, 3 days in Kyoto, 2 days in Hiroshima and 2 days in Osaka. It covered all the most interesting and historic sightseeing and also covered rural areas visiting pottery place and tea plantation

This was a great trip and involved a lot of walking. Our travel director was superb and taught us about the culture throughout the trip which made it extra meaningful. My advice is to not go during the hot and humid months or when Japan is having a national holiday.

Excellent trip! Our tour guide was Noriko. She was patient, caring and extremely knowledgeable about each of our stops. It had been 30 years since I was in Japan and the new memories mingling with the old made our trip even more worthwhile. The accommodations were very nice and comfortable. Thanks again for the trip and the small group hospitality.
