Reviews of our Northern Europe Tours for Senior Citizens
Our senior travelers love their Northern Europe journeys — here's what they say.
easy starts ( 9.00 am dep) sure helps , be prepared to walk .. Porto is very hilly, our tour director was the best 10/10 ( Helder this is for you )
Our Country Roads of Switzerland tour was an amazing experience, we saw so many wonderful places and learned about Switzerland’s history and culture. The accommodation was excellent and extremely well located. Our tour director Petra was wonderful, she was very organised and knowledgeable about all of the places we visited. We had an incredible time on this tour, all of our fellow travellers were a pleasure to interact with and we have made some beautiful memories. We highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to experience the beauty of Switzerland. We felt that we chose the perfect time to do this tour in late May as the weather was perfect. The memories we have shared will last a lifetime.
The sense of history experienced and the number of places seen; Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard , the walking tour of Boston and the magnificent Breakers in RI is something we couldn't have done on our own. Secret gems also appreciated such as the monument in Plymouth. I also appreciated there was time to explore on our own before returning the tour.
The itinerary was well-organized. We were able to see many different sights and sites. There was also a good amount of free time (not too much, not too little) and optional add-on excursions that gave us time to explore on our own.
It’s a fabulous trip. Our Tour Director Helder Almeida was the best we’ve ever had in any trip we’ve done anywhere in the world. Top class! And our driver Alfredo was incredible.
The itinerary was excellent and included many of Spain and Portugal's notable cities. I learned a great deal about the history of the two countries, their struggles against the Moors, Spain and Portugal's autocratic leaders and their affect on the countries. Everything we saw was then through that lens. Some notable highlights of the tour included a dinner with singing waiters and waitresses in Madrid, our visit to the walled city of Toledo including the impressive Toledo Cathedral, the Fado evening dinner in Lisbon, and the tours of architectural, historical, and cultural sites like the Roman Aquaducts in Segovia, the visit to Gibraltar, the impressive Alhambra Palace in Granada, The City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, and the Guell Park in Barcelona. Seeing the towering Sagara Familia, with its sculptures built into its whimsical structure and its beautiful stained glass, lifted my soul! While cathedrals are monuments to history and contain arts and treasures, a wider variety of sites to visit would have been welcomed, such as the Royal Palace and Retiro Park in Madrid, a high quality wine tasting tour featuring highly rates vineyards producing Rioja or Ribera wines, visits to the buildings that make up the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia (such as the highly regarded Aquarium), and the famous Mosque/Cathedral of Cordoba].
