The tour leader made the tour special. She was extremely knowledgable, shared information in an interesting and stimulating way and gave clear details of the itinerary each day so everything went smoothly.
The leader makes the tour and Tien is the Very Best ! Her professional years of experience and knowledge really shine through. You are part of her family and she will do what it takes to make your tour the most rewarding it can be for you. Any special needs you might have, she's there to make it happen. The experiences were varied and interesting from junk boat cruise to an hour tour in a rickshaw. The local guides and drivers did their jobs well as professionals. Siem Reap was very hot and some of the members were not really prepared for it. But water was always available on the bus so everyone could keep hydrated. I enjoyed the temple sunset and especially the optional sunrise at Angkor Wat. This is my first tour in more than 30 years and my first with Explore. I enjoyed it greatly and I've made some new life long friends. I'm looking forward to my next tour and the high standard that this one has set.
A fantastic tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. Very diverse visits from local farmers and Temples. All in all the group and especially the Tour guide (Theo) were excellent and got on so well. We were very tired the last few days of the Tour due to early mornings and long days. I would definitely recommend the upgraded tour for Vietnam as we wouldn't have liked to travel the length of this country by coach or train. Hotels were good.
Explore provide very good guides who look after you and are very knowledgeable about their country. The itinerary is always well planned with good hotels plus some trips have home stays which are always very interesting.
Very enjoyable trip. Really hectic but saw so many sights in 14 days. I would have liked to spend 2 nights on the junk. 1 wasn't enough. Our guide looked after everyone very well
I'm a regular Explore traveller but this is the first time I've gone "upgraded". Certainly the hotels were of very good quality. Although the trip involved much travelling it was well organised and went smoothly. Our guide was excellent, she ensured that we had a great experience at all the points of interest during the trip, full of information and interesting stories.
For anyone considering this tour, my advice is "just do it". From the cheerful employee who met us at the Hanoi airport and delivered us to our first hotel, to our fabulous tour guide Diem, the wonderful drivers, the fantastic accommodation, the incredible breakfasts, we couldn't have asked for a better trip. Diem was an outstanding guide, we could not have asked for someone more knowledgeable, more patient, more helpful or more kind. He had our days organized to the minute. This man is an amazing person and can take credit for our wonderful tour of Vietnam and Cambodia. Our days were much fuller than expected and we appreciated how much was crammed into each day. We saw and experienced a lot more than we thought we would. My advice to anyone taking this trip and thinking about flying back to Vietnam after Cambodia, check to make sure you have a Multiple Entry Visa. We made a mistake on this checkbox and were denied onto our flight of out Siem Raeap. As it was the Lunar New Year and the offices were closed it looked as though we were going to be kept in Cambodia another five days but with Diems help and help from a few others, we were able to fly out the next day. He saved us . Don't make that mistake! It's this type of tour guide that makes tours the way to go. If we had done the trip on our own, it would not have turned out so well.
It's my 3rd tour with explore!, and I've enjoyed it very much. The itinerary was good, and our guide - Diem - was excellent, with a lot of knowledge and good spirit.
Wonderful tour guide in Vietnam. We had a different guide in Cambodia and he was good as well. He explained the long complicated history, told us stories about his experiences & patiently answered our many questions. He also shared with us info about the American war in Vietnam. A very organized tour, beautiful hotels, delicious restaurants. We saw some amazing things. I’ve traveled a lot and this is one of my favorite trips! Loved the kayaking & being there during the Lunar New Year!!
A fantastic tour, with a great group of people! The hotels were all well located and of a very high standard (4 or 5 stars), and the junk boat was just amazing! Breakfasts were consistently good. I like a good quality hotel after a busy day sightseeing, and these hotels were spot on! I have to mention our tour guide, Diem, who was exceptional. He was very professional and genuinely cared that each person in the group was getting what they wanted from the tour. He balanced all that with being a very personable and fun guy. The best tour guide we've ever encountered. I can't rate this tour highly enough. There were so many highlights, from kayaking in Lan Ha Bay, to boating on the Mekong Delta and watching the sunset over a Cambodian temple. All in all, an amazing trip.
