Itinerary
Rajasthan, the land of palaces, forts, and maharajas, offers an unforgettable journey through its vibrant history and majestic landscapes. This 14-day tour takes you from the bustling streets of New Delhi to the heart of Rajasthan’s medieval cities. Admire the grandeur of Junagarh Fort in Bikaner, the Golden Fort in Jaisalmer, and the imposing Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur. In Jaipur, the Pink City, marvel at the impressive Amber Fort, a symbol of Rajasthan’s royal heritage. End your adventure with a visit to the stunning Taj Mahal in Agra. Enjoy unique experiences like a camel ride in Jaisalmer and a serene boat ride on Udaipur’s Lake Pichola.
day 1 - Delhi Arrival
Upon your arrival at the Delhi airport, our representative will meet you and transfer you to your hotel for the night.
day 2 - Frescoe Havelis of Mandawa
After breakfast at 0830 hrs, head out of Delhi to Mandawa. Mandawa is the gateway Town to Rajasthan. It is particularly famous for its fresco paintings and havelis, or Indian mansions. In the afternoon, visit the many havelis of this 18th century Town.
day 3 - Bikaner: Junagarh Fort
Reach Bikaner at just past noon and check-in to your hotel. In the afternoon, go on a sightseeing tour of the city. First, head to the popular Junagarh Fort. Built in the 16th century, it is one of few major forts in Rajasthan that isn’t built on a hill. Today, the fort has been converted to a museum that houses numerous cultural artefacts and the riches of Rajasthan’s past maharajas.
Later in the day, discover Rajasthan’s state animal, camel, at a camel breeding farm. Get a deeper understanding of the “Ship of the desert” and the utility of this marvellous creature.
day 4 - Golden sunset in Jaisalmer
Reach Jaisalmer at about 1330. The medieval city’s yellow sandstone structures permeate a honey-gold glow at sunsets giving credence to its title, The Golden City. In the afternoon walk around the town area. In the evening drive to Sam to witness the sunset over the Desert, which is rather breathtaking.
day 5 - Explore the golden city of Jaisalmer
The Golden Fort is the crowning glory of Jaisalmer. Although the massive sandstone structure is the second oldest fort in Rajasthan, its narrow streets are still populated by quarter of the city’s people to this day. Explore the interiors of fortification, including the royal palace and numerous temples.
Afterwards, visit some local havelis before heading to Gadi Sagar, a picturesque reservoir lined with temples and shrines.
day 6 - Around the Blue City of Jodhpur
Arrive at Jodhpur in the mid-afternoon. Visit Mehrangarh Fort, the imposing fortification overlooking the Blue City below. Inside its thick walls are a number of places with intricate carving and elaborate courtyard systems.
Later visit, Jaswant Thada, a complex of mausoleums with marble gazebos, gardens and a lake. It still serve as cremation grounds for the royal family.
day 7 - Jodhpur to Udaipur via Ranakpur
Arrive at Ranakpur at noon. Visit the city’s famous Jain temples before taking another two-hour’s drive to Udaipur. Check in to your hotel. In the evening, enjoy a sunset boat ride on Lake Pichola.
day 8 - Explore The Venice of the East
Today, explore Udaipur, also known as the City of Sunrise. We start our sightseeing tour with a visit to the City Palace, the biggest palace in India. Four generations of Maharajas have added to the palace, but the additions have been so carefully planned and integrated with the original buildings that it is difficult to believe that it was not conceived as a whole.
Later, we visit Saheliyon-Ki-Bari, an intricate gardens that provide a respite from the desert of Rajasthan, before heading to Jagdish temple, a major site of the town. End the day with a leisurely walk around the town.
day 9 - Udaipur to Bundi
Enroute this drive visit Chittorgarh Fort. The longest Fort of Rajasthan. Reach Bundi in the afternoon and visit Taragarh Fort and Museum.
day 10 - Reach Jaipur
Arrive in Jaipur, the largest city in Rajasthan, right after noon and check in to your hotel. Later in the day, explore the City Palace, famous for its blend of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture. Enjoy the fine collection of textiles, costumes, and armour at palace museum.
End with a visit to the stargazing observatory of Jantar Mantar, built by the renowned astronomer, Maharaja Jai Singh.
day 11 - The extravagance of Jaipur
Start the day with a visit to the iconic Amber Fort. The hilltop fort is a massive structure inspired by Mughal architecture. The fort was once the residence of the Rajput maharajas and, thus, is also referred to as Amber Palace. The opulent palace houses four levels with four, uniquely styled courtyards.
Later, visit Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds for a photostop. The palace, immediately distinct with its honeycombed facade of windows, was originally constructed so the royal women could watch processions without being seen.
You have the afternoon free to explore the Pink City on your own.
day 12 - Jaipur to Agra
Leave Jaipur for Agra in the morning. Along the way visit Fatehpur Sikri. In the evening, head to Agra Fort, one of the finest Mughal forts in India. The structure, built by Emperor Akbar in 1565, is a massive red sandstone fort on the bank of Yamuna River.
day 13 - The Taj Mahal (Agra-Delhi drive)
Start the day early morning with a visit to the most iconic structure in India, Taj Mahal. Considered as the most beautiful building in the world, this glistening structure truly is awe-inspiring. Built as a memorial by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for this third wife, Mumtaz Mahal, Taj Mahal is love poem made of marble and stone.
Return to the hotel breakfast and leave for Delhi in the afternoon.
(Keep in mind, Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays.)
day 14 - End of the tour
Your tour of Rajasthan ends here. Transfer to the airport for the flight back home.
