Explore the magic of Morocco, a land where desert dunes, mountain passes, and ancient cities create a timeless journey. Begin in vibrant Marrakech, wandering through colorful souks and historic medinas. Marvel at the cascading Ouzoud Falls and visit an Argan Oil Cooperative to see traditional production methods.
Continue to coastal Essaouira, then explore the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou and cinematic Ouarzazate. Journey through the stunning Dades and Todgha Gorges, then ride into the Sahara Desert for a night under the stars at a luxury desert camp. Pass through the scenic Ziz Valley and spot wild monkeys at Cèdre Gouraud Forest before arriving in Fès, Morocco’s spiritual heart.
Conclude your adventure in the picturesque blue city of Chefchaouen and the coastal charm of Casablanca. Optional: Extend your journey to Tangier, where Europe meets Africa along the shimmering Strait of Gibraltar.
day 1 - Marrakesh arrival
Start your journey in Marrakesh, a city with more nicknames than most. As Morocco’s fourth-largest city and its most popular, Marrakesh serves as the base for several day trips. Today’s activities will depend on your arrival time, with plenty to explore in and around the old town. Getting lost is easy—but with your private tour guide, you’ll discover Marrakesh’s impressive attractions, including palaces, city views, a citadel, garden oases, tanneries, mosques, and more.
During your tour, you may visit Rahba Kedima, a bustling area where locals sell fruit, vegetables, and chickens. Wander through Souk Semarine Market, full of clothing, merchants, and trinkets, and explore Souk Haddadin Market, the traditional ironworker’s quarter now home to a variety of shops. Stop at Souk des Teinturiers Market to see dyers’ workshops, then Souk el-Attarine Market with its lamp, teapot, and mirror shops. High-end shopping awaits at Kissaria Market, featuring designer lanterns, glassware, Berber rugs, fashion, and antiques, while Souk Cherifia Market is the best destination for designer clothes, accessories, and homeware. Visit Criee Berbere, the old slave market now selling carpets, and explore the miscellaneous shops of Sidi Ishaq Market and Albiyyaddine Market. End your tour at Jemma El-Fnaa Square, Marrakesh’s main square, alive with street vendors and food stalls.
If you finish early, attractions set for Day 4 may be added today. Conversely, any sites you cannot visit today will be rolled over to Day 4.
Note: If you cannot fly directly to Marrakesh, a connecting flight from Casablanca or a land transfer from Casablanca to Marrakesh will be arranged.

day 2 - Ouzoud Falls day trip: hiking and paddle boating
Take a day trip to Ouzoud Falls, where you’ll enjoy a guided hiking tour and a paddle boat ride. Ouzoud Falls is the collective name for several tall waterfalls that cascade into the El-Abid River gorge. At 600 meters high, it is unsurprisingly the most visited site in the region.
Accommodation: Other
day 3 - Essaouira day trip: medina, markets, and coastal charm
Take a day trip to Essaouira, passing by the famous tree-climbing goats (yes, really!) and stopping at a small factory producing organic argan oil, renowned for its benefits for skin and hair. Once in Essaouira, enjoy a guided tour of the partially fortified old town, or medina, which was designed by European colonists in the late 18th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is dotted with bastions, ramparts, art galleries, and lively outdoor markets.
During your tour, you will see Porte de la Marine, also known as the Marine Docks, and the Sqala de la Ville Bastion, or Sqala de la Kasbah. Stroll along Rue Dar Laalouj, a road lined with shops, and explore Souk Jdid Market.
Visit Rue Mohammed Zerktouni, the main street featuring a lively market, and take in the city ramparts. Stop at Essaouira Beach, where you can spot the ruins of defense walls on the far side, and explore the Sqala du Port Bastion.
Swimming is recommended only in the summer months, as the water can be too cold during fall and winter. Please note that sightings of the tree-climbing goats cannot be guaranteed.

day 4 - Marrakesh: souks, entertainment, and historic sites
Spend the day exploring Marrakesh, a city home to around 18 markets, or souks, and often described as ‘one giant marketplace.’ Historically, Marrakesh served as a hub where tribesmen and Berber villagers bought and sold goods, such as carpets, and found entertainment on the streets. Hundreds of years later, the goods and street performances remain as vibrant as ever. The heart of the city is Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, where you can watch acrobats, drummers, pipe musicians, dancers, storytellers, comedians, and fairground acts.
In addition to the lively entertainment, Marrakesh is rich in architectural treasures. Visit the serene Majorelle Garden and admire the Kutubiyya Mosque, peeking into the prayer hall where possible. See the historic Bab Agnaou Gate and the exterior of the Kasbah Mosque, also known as Mansouria Mosque or Mosque of Moulay al-Yazid, unless you are Muslim.
Explore the Saadian Tombs, a necropolis dating back to the twelfth century, and take in views from the ramparts of El Badi Palace. Stop outside Dar el-Makhzen Palace, then tour the ornate Palais Bahia, and wander through Bab Mellah Spice Souk and the Mellah Market. Visit Dar Si Said Museum for decorative arts and city views from the top floor, and admire the Ben Youssef Madrasa. Conclude with a look at the exterior of Mouassine Mosque unless you are Muslim.

day 5 - Marrakesh to the desert: Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate
Travel from Marrakesh to a desert village, making two must-visit stops along the way. The first stop is the historic and fortified village of Aït Benhaddou, a prime example of Morocco’s earthen clay architecture. Next, visit the town of Ouarzazate, famous for its film studio, Atlas Studios, one of the largest in the world by land area. Many films have been shot in both Aït Benhaddou and Ouarzazate, including The Mummy, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones. Explore a cinema museum in Ouarzazate, where props from these movies are on display.

day 6 - Desert journey: Dades, Todgha, and Erg Chebbi
We are relocating once again. Our desert exploration continues north today. The first destination is Dades Gorges. They are a series of rugged wadi gorges carved out by the river. The next destination is Todgha (a.k.a. Todra) Gorges. They are a series of limestone river canyons. En route to our final destination, Erg Chebbi, we make a stop in the village of Rissani, home to a locally famous pizza-like dish called madfouna. Erg Chebbi is where our luxury camp is located. We sleep in a tent. Erg Chebbi is essentially a large sea of red dunes formed by wind-blown sand. After arrival, we go camel riding with a tour guide. Dinner is included on today’s tour. Before the night ends, we watch a traditional show with music and fire.
Important to note, although the camp usually has Wi-Fi and should have electricity, outages do happen from time to time.

day 7 - From Merzouga to Fez: quads, valleys, and medieval stre
After breakfast, which is included on today’s tour, enjoy quad riding to the nearby village of Merzouga. Then travel to the city of Fez, making scenic stops along the way, including the Ziz Valley and the Cèdre Gouraud Forest, home to playful monkeys. Fez is the firstborn of Morocco’s four royal capitals and arguably the best-preserved medieval city in the Arab world, offering a feast for the senses.
During your exploration, wander Rue Bou Ksissat, once the economic and spiritual heart of Fez’s Jewish Quarter, or Mellah, and home to several jewelry shops. Visit Bab Ftouh Gate, also known as the Gate of Victory, and explore Rcif Market, a bustling food market. Stroll along Dyer’s Street, an alleyway filled with dyed wools and silks, and finish at Place Seffarine, a square with a charming fountain and centuries-old brass-working shops. If you finish early, attractions set for tomorrow may be added to today’s tour.

day 8 - Meal Inside a Native’s Home
Fez is a fascinating blend of the Middle Ages and modern life. Today, immerse yourself in the city’s rich history, exploring fortresses, mosques, a tannery, centuries-old brass-working shops, a historic university, city views, souks, and more. As Morocco’s second most popular tourist destination after Marrakesh, Fez offers countless must-see landmarks.
During your tour, admire the exterior of Palais Royal Dar El Makhzen, the city’s Royal Palace, and visit the Marinid Tombs, which feature ruins and panoramic views. Explore the 16th-century fortress housing the Musee des Armes, walk through the Mechouar de Bab Dekaken Gate, and wander along Rue Talaa Kebira, a historic street brimming with shops. Visit Bou Inania Madrasa and Funduq al-Najjariyyin, which houses a wooden arts museum and boasts a beautiful entrance and courtyard. Stop by Chouara Tannery and Al-Attarine Madrasa, whose terrace offers a view of the Qarawiyyin Mosque courtyard.
Continue to Nejjarine, Dar Saada, and Riad Nejjarine, historic buildings now serving as decorative restaurants. Explore Leather’s Market, once a site for trading slaves, now known for dyed leather goods. Admire the exterior of the Zawiya of Sidi Ahmed al-Tijani, and see the Qaraouiyine Mosque, home to the world’s oldest university, from the street. Visit Palais Quaraouiyine, a former palace now a high-end carpet shop, and enjoy views from its terrace. See Zaouia Moulay Idriss II, the shrine of Fez’s founder, and take in city views from Borj Sud. Conclude the day at Bab Bou Jeloud, also known as the Blue Gate.
Following the sightseeing, visit a local Moroccan home to watch traditional food preparation and enjoy dinner. The combination of delicious cuisine, rich culture, and good company makes this an unforgettable experience. Any attractions you cannot visit today due to closing times will be included tomorrow morning before departing to Chefchaouen.

day 9 - The Blue Pearl Village of Africa
Today we relocate to a charming blue village called Chefchaouen. It is nicknamed the 'blue pearl of Morocco'. The beauty of Chefchaouen's mountainous surroundings is enhanced by the contrast of the brightly painted old town. It is an attractive place for tourists generally and influencers especially. There are so many postcard-perfection locations to take a selfie. Among the places we visit is, of course, the main square. It is lined with cafes and is filled to the brim with locals and tourists mingling.

day 10 - Casablanca or Tangier, Your Choice!
Where we relocate today depends on whether you will be leaving the country from Casablanca or from Tangier. If the former, then we will visit the giant Hassan II Mosque. Completed in 1993, it is the second largest functioning mosque in Africa and is the 7th largest in the world. Its minaret is the world's second tallest at 210 metres (689 feet). If you are departing Morocco tomorrow from Tangier, then we do a city tour: a citadel, ramparts, street shops, public squares, markets, gardens, mosques and more.
For your information, below are the names of the attractions we will try to show you today if you are heading to Tangier rather than to Casablanca.
1. The Kasbah Citadel: impressive on both the outside and the inside
2. Ramparts (a.k.a. Bab Al Bahr): offers a great view from the terrace and otherwise leads to a closed but nevertheless attractive fort called Borj en Naam
3. Rue Es-Siaghine: This street is lined with cafes and shops. Highlights include (A) the southern gate (a.k.a. Bab Al Fahs), (B) a government building featuring a courtyard planted with orange trees (number 47), (C) the former Spanish Church of the Immaculate Conception (a.k.a. La Purisima, now used for social activities) (number 51) and (D) the jeweler shops on Rue Touahine.
4. Hotel Continental: featuring an attractive-looking breakfast room
5. Grand Socco (a.k.a. Place du 9 Avril 1947): This busy market square and its immediate surroundings contain Sidi Bou Abib Mosque and Al-Mendoubia gardens.
6. Fondouk Chejra (a.k.a. Poor People’s Souk or the Weavers’ Souk): an oriental-style market
7. Rue de la Liberte: features a souvenir bazaar called Tindouf
8. Place de France: a popular public square
9. Place de Faro: a place offering great views of the old town
10. Moshe Nahon Synagogue: located on Boulevard Pasteur, Number 27

Transportation will be arranged to take you to Tangier’s airport or harbor, or to Casablanca’s airport, whichever you prefer. Please note that there is an additional charge for drop-offs in Tangier.
I recently got back from a two week trip to Morocco. When I was researching the many available tour packages with different companies, I stumbled upon CharlieTheTraveler’s website. I liked the itinerary for Morocco and I liked the price, but what I really loved was the flexibility in allowing me to pause the trip on certain days if I wanted to stay longer in a specific city. This flexibility is not usually available with other companies. Those companies only allow you to add days before and after the tour. I ended up pausing my trip for a free day in Marrakech and a free day in Fes. Had I known that I was going to love Marrakech as much as I did, I would have paused the trip for 3-4 days longer in that city alone. After booking everything with Charlie’s company, I only needed to send flight information and proof of travel insurance. Everything else was taken care of.About 2 weeks before the trip, I received my itinerary and I was good to go. My main point of contact for my duration in Morocco was Medhi. He was there waiting for me when I landed in Marrakech and drove me to the hotel. He was such a great guy and took care of anything that came up. At the end of each day, he would message me in WhatsApp to see how the day went since each day I had different excursions in different cities based on the itinerary. Medhi will go out of his way to make sure you have a great trip.I had some really awesome drivers and tour guides as well. Faissal and Refex in Casablanca were exceptional. Faissal drove me to the mall to get something from the grocery store that’s not readily available back in America, and then drove me to a place that had excellent msemen flatbread. Refex took me to the airport on my last day. My guide in Fes was Lahcen and he was very knowledgeable about the city and gave great tips to avoid local hustlers trying to take advantage of tourists. One of the days in Fes, I had a cooking class with a view overlooking the city. It was definitely a highlight of the trip. Fatima and I walked the market picking out produce and meat for the dishes I chose to make. The food was so delicious and Fatima and her grandmother were both so nice and generous. My hotels were all quite nice, but I have to say that the Riad Anata in Fes was my favorite accommodation. It had the most comfortable bed and a shower that you just didn’t want to get out of (the overhead rain faucet will spoil you). I got to meet the owner the first day I arrived. We had a great conversation up on the terrace for about an hour and a half.I have been back home in Texas now for a week and I am definitely missing Morocco (the food, the cities, the people, etc.). If you get the opportunity to go to Morocco, definitely give CharlieTheTraveler a chance. You will not regret it. Both Charlie and Medhi will make sure you have a very memorable vacation.

Excellent
Tackling most of Morocco in under two weeks can sound intimidating, particularly in the peak of summer with two young kids. But any concerns we had were quickly put to rest. The itinerary was well coordinated with excellent and thoughtful guides at every stop. We were able to feel immersed in the culture while also feeling safe. Mehdi – our driver – was with us the whole time and was spectacular. Mehdi was a delight to spend time with and is a fantastic representative for his country. He was also great with our kids and always kept our safety and hydration top of mind. This was our second trip with Charlie, and we were not disappointed. We walked away with memories for a lifetime.

Morocco was a dream-come-true vacation for me. I cannot thank Charlie the Traveler and his local contacts (Medhi, my travel concierge, & co.) enough—it went beyond my expectations and was really superb. The riads and hotels were gorgeous, the meals delicious, and all of my guides and drivers worked to meet my needs and tailor the experience so it was memorable. I was a little nervous because I was traveling alone and everything was new to me, but I was provided first-class hospitality and in good hands every step of the way. There was a good variety of sightseeing and activities on this tour. As for souvenirs, so many great finds that I left clothes behind to make room in my suitcases. The desert camp was fun and the sky was amazing—my whole life, I have never seen the cosmos light up like that—and watching the sun rise over the Sahara was magical. I was paired with guides who were local to their cities, which was a nice touch, and each day was enriching and educational. Seeing the architecture & the artisans at work were just some aspects to Maroc where it’s this blend of old and new you should see yourself to truly appreciate. Even on day trips, I got to see so many different parts of the country, every visual along the road was a treat. The cooking class was outside my comfort zone, but I showed up and the host family was so kind and gracious—everyone was like this in Morocco. Each day I thought was the high point, it turned out there was more to come. Excellent value, great adventure, stunning visuals. Charlie & co. always made themselves available to smooth out any inevitable bumps in the road you encounter while traveling. I highly recommend. J’adore le Maroc!

The whole reason I did not travel much was because of the stress it usually caused. I can never actually enjoy my trip. However, my brother took a tour with CharlieTheTraveler and recommended them. I was pleased to find out that I did not experience any of the normal stress of traveling—instead, the company had planned and organized almost everything for my trip to Morocco. I wasn’t familiar with the country, but that made no difference as the tour guide provided was an expert. I felt safe while going on each daytrip. The mosques we visited were my favorite, as that was unlike anything I have where I live.
