Beyond exploring historic cities, you’ll delve into Berber highlander life, learn to cook with a top Moroccan chef, and unwind in a traditional hammam. Spiritual enrichment is woven in with a hiking trip on Mount Zerhoune and a visit to Joujouka’s famed Sufi musicians.
Committed to sustainability, this trip prioritizes eco-friendly practices and local guesthouse stays, allowing for genuine interaction with Moroccan communities. The tour’s unique selling point lies in its holistic approach—balancing wellness, cultural immersion, and environmental responsibility for a deeply meaningful travel experience.
Meet your tour guide on landing at Mohamed V Airport in Casablanca and drive to Rabat. Check into your hotel in Rabat on arrival. The drive to Rabat is short (around 45 miles) and you will travel through lush farms and orchards along the way.
Rabat spreads out in a spaciously elegant, European-influenced grid pattern. A historic tour of the city is followed by a drive to the holy town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoune. This town is the spiritual cradle of the Moroccan people and was opened to non-Muslims only in 2005.
Pilgrims come to this town from all over North Africa and the Middle East seeking healing power in its shrines and its sufi music groups have a great reputation. The town itself is a medieval jewel set on the peak of Mount Zerhoune and a great place to start your Morocco wellness tour from.
The morning will be devoted to a walking tour of Moulay Idriss with your local tour guide. Hike through old footpaths in Mount Zerhoune exploring sufi retreats amid ancient olive groves. Then set off for Volubilis, home to ancient Roman ruins. Continue walking along the Fertassa River with a lunch break in the village of Ain Karma.
Hop into your van thereafter and travel to the hot springs of Moulay Yacoub. You can enjoy the spa before and after dinner if you wish to (spa treatment is optional). Your day comes to an end on reaching Fez. Your accommodation in the city will be at a guest house in Fez's old medina, thereby providing you with a great opportunity to immerse in Moroccan history and culture.
Leave your accommodation after breakfast and hike down the Tghat Valley, past wheat fields and lushly terraced plots of land, all the way to Mount Zalagh. Climb up to the Sidi Ahmed Bernoussi Mausoleum, where you will be received by jajouka musicians.
Spread Berber rugs under thousand-year-old dardar trees and enjoy your lunch of couscous prepared by a Berber family as a gesture of traditional hospitality. End your meal with a cup of mint tea and proceed to explore Mount Zalagh. Spend the afternoon hiking the slopes of the mountain with your tour guide.
Return to Fez and check into a luxurious riad, where you will spend the night.
Set off on a walking tour Fez with your tour guide. Undeniably fascinating, Fez stimulates the senses with its haunting yet beautiful sounds, visual splendour and evocative smells. The most ancient of the imperial capitals of Morocco and the most complete medieval city in the Islamic world, Fez is reminiscent of a city suspended in time, unfazed by the constantly evolving world outsides of its walls.
Retreat to the riad in the late afternoon for a cooking class with Chef Rabiaa who will teach you to prepare a Moroccan tagine. Enjoy your dinner accompanied by traditional Moroccan music on returning to the riad.
Leave Fez in the rearview mirror and head for Chefchaouen, one of the prettiest towns in Morocco known for the blue-washed buildings of its old town. Enjoy amazing vistas and landscapes unique to the Rif Mountains along the way.
On arrival in Chefchaouen, your local tour guide will take you around its narrow streets and vibrant markets. Check into your guesthouse in the heart of Talassmatane National Park after that. Enjoy nature at its best amid gurgling streams and forests of evergreen cedar and pine trees. Learn more about Berber highlanders and their culture from your tour guide.
The perfect icing on the cake of a wellness retreat, you have the option to experience a Moorish bath (hammam) tonight.
Meet your local tour guide in the lobby for a walking tour of Chefchaouen's historic section. Then continue on to Rabat where you will have your lunch in a ranch. Those interested in horseback riding will get the chance to explore the cork pines valley of Menzah, while others can simply enjoy the rustic, laid-back ranch atmosphere.
Continue to Rabat and explore the historic section of the city during a sightseeing tour. There is a farewell dinner at an authentic Moroccan restaurant tonight.
We will drive you to the airport in Casablanca for your flight home. Thank you for visiting Morocco. We hope you enjoyed our wellness trip.
