India is a beautiful and wonderful place but we were very fortunate to get guides who made the trip special. Not only did we see sites but our guides helped us understand the people and its culture.
Without the dust in Rajastan India is indeed a great destination not only for Westerners but anyone interested in East Indian cultures and traditions. Food was good but a little too salty for my tastebuds. In southern India food not as salty but also very good. I plan at some later time to revisit India but be a little more prepared to deal with the dust and the northern weather in January.
Unveil the full spectrum of India's heritage and landscapes with the "Great India" tour—an expansive, 24-day adventure that showcases the country's most iconic cities and hidden gems. This group trip, ideal for seasoned travelers eager for an in-depth exploration, starts in New Delhi and winds its way to Chennai, traversing a remarkable array of destinations including the Golden Triangle, Rajasthan’s desert havens, and the lush southern states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
From the lively markets and historic sites of Delhi, the itinerary leads you to Agra for a close encounter with the majestic Taj Mahal. Jaipur, the vibrant Pink City, offers architectural marvels and royal history before you continue to Pushkar, famed for its sacred lake and the world-renowned camel fair. Udaipur enchants with its lakes and palaces set against the Aravalli Mountains, while Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner provide a taste of Rajasthan's desert grandeur and timeless forts.
The trip transitions south to the enchanting beaches of Mamallapuram and the biodiversity hotspots of Pondicherry. Wildlife enthusiasts will find Periyar National Park a highlight, with opportunities to spot elephants and tigers in their natural habitat. The journey through Kumarakom’s backwaters offers a tranquil interlude, before concluding in the historic port city of Cochin.
Throughout the tour, travelers enjoy guided sightseeing, comfortable hotel stays, and seamless transportation, all underpinned by a relaxed pace that allows for genuine cultural immersion. The unique selling point of this tour package lies in its breadth: few itineraries offer such a comprehensive cross-section of India, capturing both the north’s architectural wonders and the south’s natural serenity. With its blend of cultural highlights, wildlife encounters, and scenic beauty, "Great India" promises a truly unforgettable Indian exploration.
