I cannot recommend Mike Thoms enough: if you see a place you might find interesting, and he's leading the tour, BOOK IT! His inquisitive mind and superb storytelling give you views into cultures over time that you *cannot* find in books or documentaries. He works like a dog to craft the best outcomes of any unavoidable complications, and he and the driver (we had a master!) were a cohesive team despite not having worked together before. On top of that, Mike is as personable, engaging, and humorous as they come, yet he also managed to get dozens of us from all over the world going each day – on time! –with every minute doing something meaningful, rewarding, and entertaining – including travel time in the bus. You won't find a better value for leisure travel – or professional development, if you're a teacher! If you aren't yet retired, take the time, even if it means attending a ""fake funeral"", and get out there to experience far-off places!
