Hotels were ok but not great. The hotel in Hoi An was sub par- a backpackers type of accommodation. Our guide moved us to another room thank goodness. Original room had stains on wall, scuff marks and broken paper holder. Also a lot of bus time in Saigon area -otherwise we enjoyed.
A fabulous trip with a small friendly group who made me feel welcome on my first solo travel, Binh our tour leader was more than informative of the history in Vietnam, keeping the group safe was Priority with the health of the safety and making sure we was all okay every step of the way. This trip was labelled as a leisurely cycle and that it was a few more miles would’ve been joyful. 3 nt in Hoi-an was to many, 1 nt in Da Nang to see marble Mountain and the Dragon bridge at night would’ve been another highlights and spectacular to see., I have made wonderful memories of this beautiful country and I thank you all very much.
Fantastic trip and experience, living up to all expectations! Definitely helped by having such a great guide - thanks Binh. Would definitely recommend
An excellent fortnight exploring Vietnam by foot and bike. The cycling was relatively easy and relaxed (even the chaotic bits in the cities) and Binh our guide was very safety aware and led our routes well taking time to stop and explain the views and attractions along the way. The hotels were mostly good (one was a bit lower standard but even that was fine) and the food available varied and tasty. The itinerary was varied and covered all the key features and was flexible enough to accommodate the wishes of the group. The included food lunches or dinners were all excellent. We did the optional extras and the cookery class in Han Oi was superb. We had 2 weeks of splendid weather - one day of rain which meant that the itinerary that day was changed to a walk from a ride - we would have preferred to have cycled but safety awareness prevented this. Some small tweaks to the itinerary could improve things for us but overall the itinerary was both well planned and varied. We were a small group and we had an excellent time with our fellow travellers and Binh.
Yet another excellent trip with Explore. Each day was a new, diverse cycle ride providing a real insight to Vietnam - off the beaten track. Our guide Bình was so kind, full of knowledge and enthusiasm which he was so willing to share with the group.
Thai Binh was excellent always at the front of his mind was keeping us safe on time with a degree of some flexibility. His story telling on the trip allowed us to have a real feel for the history of Vietnam and I have come back home feeling knowledgeable about this wonderful country. The accommodation was all great and I have no complaints including the train which was better than I expected. The wonderful food at the home cooked homestays excelled all expectations and I wish I could of managed to eat more as it was plentiful. The cycling was an experience from the madness of cycling in the city, to cycling through wet paddy field to small villages with children waving along the way. We even managed to cycle with the rain pouring and test out our waterproof coats but all added to the fun.
This is an excellent trip. The countryside is varied, the cycling is relatively easy and the bikes good. The Vietnamese people are friendly and the food delicious. Our guide Binh was very knowledgeable and looked after us exceptionally well. He really made the trip.
This was our first trip with Explore - and indeed our first Group trip. Everything was amazing. The amount of cycling was perfect, rest stops, support teams, photo opportunities, planning.....everything. A group of four people is a little 'intense' however on the whole we navigated the relationships well within the group. One of the highlights for us was Binh himself. He was such an amazing Guide/Tour Leader - words don't really convey how important he was to our enjoyment of the experience. For us, his personal stories made Vietnam's history come alive, and yet he took care to convey many perspectives on the recent history of the country and people. We were able to meet his parents and visit his home which was really a very special moment. Binh is a real asset to Explore. He is articulate, skilled, very caring and respectful - to the people of Vietnam, to the tour participants and support teams, and to the organisation Explore. With development and growth opportunities he could go very far as a mentor and leader in the company and in the tour industry.
