The itinerary moves very fast and a moderate degree of fitness is required Not much chance to sleep in, be prepared to to have your suitcases out and for breakfast by 7a.m. Good quality hotels, the showers over the bath can present a challenge. The tour director is very organised and has a good knowledge of the areas. The Coach driver was very friendly and helpful. Itinerary had a lot of history as we expected, some local guides were also a treat. Castles were something different for us. Meals were a high standard and a good choice of food at the breakfasts. Some of the meals out were long distances to travel in the coach. Some of the optional tours were really good. The included evenings out were very good and some spectacular. Must be aware that the prepaid gratuities are only for the Tour director and the coach driver. so any local tour guides you will need cash for. You must make a choice for all the optional excursions very early into the tour so that they can be arranged. The ferries and loch rides created a good variance to the coach. The Orkney's were very interesting and also the Isle of Skye. all up a very interesting and enjoyable tour.

Gaye P.On Sep 16, 2025

It moves very fast moving on most days. It is very good visiting a lot of places maybe not enough time to do your own thing, but this really depends on not doing all the optional tours (these are mainly meals) Do think the meal before the Tattoo should be included as no option so that the tour director can get you to the show on time. Would have liked to visit the cathedral at Wells. would like to stop in Queenstown where the Titanic museum is really great place and area,. rather than a long drive on an optional trip. Disappointed not to visit the Giant's Steps. unfortunately because of ferry schedules. Would like to include more of Northern Ireland. A very good coverage of Scotland. A good idea to get your fitness up as a lot of steps to climb narrow rock ones. Going to the Orkney's is really great, The Isle of Skye also. Three course meals at night are probably not necessary, but full breakfasts are really great. there could be some more interesting places and things in Wales. Do not think Stone Henge is necessary now that they have replica's all around the world. Maybe a stadium as most travellers are Australian or New Zealanders and they are sporting people, also of the land so like to see what cropping, and farming things are there, not just all history! Interested to see they cannot get rid of Gorse same as we can't . An advantage of a coach trip is that you can see over a lot of hedges, although the trees along the roads are getting very high now. You must be aware not many hotels have Air conditioning or windows that open very far. In most cases the shower is over the bath and you need to be agile enough to manage those. A very enjoyable itinerary.

Great tour and guide

Kerry B.On Sep 14, 2025

Excellent itinerary it covered so much in the 22 days. You get to meet a great bunch of people, our Tour Director was a walking encyclopaedia and we knew we were in good hands with our driver at all times.

AnonymousOn Sep 14, 2025

The itinerary is well thought out and covers most of the historic sites that you should see on a visit to the UK. Also plenty of free time so that you can visit sites not necessarily on the itinerary but worth visiting.

AnonymousOn Sep 14, 2025

Too much driving and not enough time for exploring at stops. Maybe streamline some of the places visited to allow more free time. Less organised dinners because the food offered is very repetitive. Free time dinners to experience local pubs etc would allow more normal experiences instead of group feedings. Some experiences were outstanding like Military Tattoo, scenery in Scotland

Not all accommodation was 4-5 star and a lot of the food was repetitive and boring. I also thought there would be more personal time on the tour but due to so many destinations personal time was limited.

AnonymousOn Sep 12, 2025

The optional extras are not always worth the cost. Some “optionals” should be included in the tour at no additional expense. Eg the coach tour of the Isle of Skye .. if that wasn’t done we would have seen nothing of Skye other than the hotel and nearby supermarket. Some options were removed by the tour director without consulting the customers. Dinner and entertainment options were overpriced and not selected by us.

AnonymousOn Sep 11, 2025

Excellent itinerary that provides a taste of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. Our tour director was superb and could not done any more to make our journey as fabulous as possible. Seeing the Edinburgh Tattoo was a highlight as was the Orkney Islands - simply stunning.

AnonymousOn Sep 11, 2025

Itinerary was good but the accommodation advertised as 4/5 stars was not what we stayed in on tour and not very well located to the city centre. We chose Insight, thinking it was a higher end tour than your partner company Trafalgar but often found ourselves staying in the same hotels. The included dinners and optional dinners were well below standard. Some were inedible, which was very disappointing. This is the reason I would not recommend to family or friends. On a positive note our tour director was professional, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly.

AnonymousOn Sep 10, 2025

Covered many interesting places with a great tour guide but i think it would be nice to have a bit more time at some places. Disappointed we missed Orkney Islands due to weather.

AnonymousOn Sep 10, 2025

Covered alot of history and alot of ground, much of which i did not know. I found that very interesting. I would like to see a bit more variety. We saw many many castles from ruins to those still in use, small, large and medieval but no stately homes. Im interested in pottery so a detour through Balastron (Stoke-on-Trent) or even Waterford would have been good. We did see Beleek briefly.

A wonderful way to see the UK. A heap of history Great way to see the country without the worry of driving in a busy new land

AnonymousOn Sep 8, 2025

The itinerary is far too rushed. There is insufficient time for passengers to actually do anything other than get off the bus, get changed for dinner if there’s time, get back on the bus and drive again almost every night, for dinner. The TD organised all the dinners and they were NEVER in the city or town where we were staying. It was just ridiculous unless you didn’t do the optional dinners. The dinners were very ordinary with the exception of Bunratty Castle. Many of the hotels were too far out in a country area to allow us to do anything other than the group dinners. In Liverpool we arrived about 4pm, immediately had to go on an optional tour and had about 30 minutes to walk to the wharf area and then rush back for the dinner once again in the hotel when we could have had free time to go to a restaurant. We didn’t of course have to do all the optional activities but we never knew where we were going to be in relation to a city. In Cardiff, we didn’t even set eyes on the Main Street.. In Dublin, we didn’t even get to enjoy a visit to Temple Bar to hear some Irish music. We did get 4 hours free time one morning in Dublin and then had to get back on the bus to go on an optional Tor. I believe most passengers enjoyed the comradery on board the bus and a couple of the optional activities but were very disappointed that they spent so much time sitting on a bus driving from place to place and basically seeing nothing.. I believe the Orkney Islands should be taken off the itinerary or another couple of days added to allow more opportunity for free time to see something. Accommodation is very ordinary and the trip is Overall - disappointing.

More 2 day stays would be great.

AnonymousOn Sep 8, 2025

The itinerary for this tour was very comprehensive. I especially enjoyed the optional activities. The Scottish Ceilidh, the Celtic Steps, the Three Rocks entertainment and the Spirit of Wales singers were all outstanding. Most of the optional dinners were fabulous, especially those with a personal flavour like the dinner at the Blue Boar, the Old Punch Bowl, the Skylark Pub and the Heskin Mill.

AnonymousOn Sep 7, 2025

Itinerary included many interesting and scenic places but was too rushed with too much time on the coach and too many one night stays.

AnonymousOn Sep 7, 2025

There were some long days which left little time to explore the daily destination. Reducing free time in the middle of the day could add extra st the destination.

AnonymousOn Sep 6, 2025

Our driver() and tour director () were both very skilled in their roles, with patience, safety and courtesy uppermost in their dealings with the people on our tour. Our welfare was their concern. A busy itinerary but well paced, particularly in the second half of the tour.

Marian T.On Sep 6, 2025

We enjoy a wide variety of experiences and scenery. The two night stops were very welcome, to catch our breath and do some washing ! We would have liked a little more time in Cornwall. The only criticism I have is the confusion experienced on the morning of departure, with two similar Insight groups leaving within 15 minutes of each other.

AnonymousOn Sep 4, 2025

The last stop in Cardiff was disapointing with low standard accomodation and the late advice of change on the actual day was poor.

AnonymousOn Sep 3, 2025

Itinerary was action packed and when optional extras are added in it becomes a very busy itinerary with so much to see, do and experience. When I travel, I like to do as much as possible while I am there and this itinerary allowed me to do that.

AnonymousOn Sep 3, 2025

The locations and attractions were superb. Some of the rural hotels need portable air conditioners for tours during the warmer months. Tour directors should be given authority to leave behind serial latecomers and enforce mask wearing for passengers with respiratory infections.

Nuntarat K.On Sep 2, 2025

The room was arranged in a very bad location for 15 nights, next to the air conditioning vent, the parking lot or a loud place. The other friends were clearly in a better position It caused me to have poor sleep and made me sick for the last 7 days of the tour. I informed my agent in Thailand, Siam Express Travel Service, and discouraged them from promoting this tour to other customers.

Very interesting places, sad to not get to Orkney Is because that was why we chose that tour, weather was too bad. I did not like having to visit the breweries as I don’t drink alcohol and those visits should be optional not included in the day activities.

Found the dinners were almost the same every night. Meals far too big and when you receive 3 courses. Hotels were what we expected. Staff very professional everywhere we stayed. Incredible bus driver () Tour Director was amazing, well organised with so much knowledge. Made the trip memorable ()o

AnonymousOn Aug 27, 2025

It was an interesting tour and covered many parts of the UK but unfortunately we were unable to get to the Orkney islands to see the Ring of Bognor and Skara Brae because of the bad weather. Other excursions and “treats” were given to us at various points to make up for the disappointment.

AnonymousOn Aug 27, 2025

The trip we bought and the trip we did were unrecognisable. There were so many changes to the itinerary. Some admittedly were beyond insight control, but some were and not necessarily for the better. Considering the prices paid for extras, I can only say most were a rip off. If we ever do another Insight tour (and that is debatable) we probably would cut back on extras and pay for our own.

AnonymousOn Aug 27, 2025

Some hotels are well below 4-5 stars. Get to hotels too late to explore the destination. Food options tend to be similar and bland.

Patsy B.On Aug 25, 2025

I thought it was perfect. The one change I’d make is to do a tour of Sligo which would mean not going to Belleek Pottery. Sligo has some amazing history which I think is worthy of spending some time there.

Suzanne W.On Aug 25, 2025

It was a very comprehensive experience with extra regional touches throughout the tour. Nothing was really repeated with a variety of experiences and accommodation styles.

AnonymousOn Aug 24, 2025

The tour covered an incredible amount of beautiful country. It had a great mix of free time (including evenings), and localised tours. Lots of optional tours to add on if we wished. All of these added to the experience; and a handful seemed like they were more ‘essential’ to the whole adventure rather than optional. Some days were long out of necessity to see so much.

Douglas W.On Aug 24, 2025

Fantastic itinerary, with enough free time in various cities/towns to allow a bit of personal exploration, if desired. It's coverage was excellent, starting from London winding up to John O Grouts (then out to Ortney Islands), then west to magnificent Isle of Skye, then across the sea to Ireland, covering from Derry to Dublin with many cities/features in between. Then back thru Wales to Old Blighty. We were blessed with an excellent knowledgeable & friendly tour guide and excellent driver. Nightly outings immersed us with the locals, their culture & cuisine in each of the cities. By definition, it is a long tour! However is coverage makes this all worthwhile. The only improvement I would suggest to its itinerary would be if they could possibly squeeze in an extra 3-4 hours in Liverpool, after the overnight stay, to allow a bit more personal exploration.

AnonymousOn Aug 24, 2025

There is a lot of time spent on the coach and not a great deal of time to explore without a guide. This is true of any tour like this which covers a great distance. Thankfully the coach was comfy and the driver was excellent.

Overall very good but not enough time in some places and too much in others. Disappointed with time in Skye all round - hotel 3 star and very small, tour too late in the day and didn't include enough. Missed out on Ring of Kerry coastline - one of the world’s most scenic journeys! Took the high road covered in cloud rather than lower roads. Not enough time in Liverpool. Glasgow a waste of time visiting. Loved York, Edinburgh, St Andrew’s, Loch Ness cruise, Orkney islands, Giants Causeway, Londonderry, Killarney town, Blarney Castle, Cobh harbour, Guinness Storehouse, Bath and Dartmoor National Park. Enjoyed the evening of Scot-Gaelic culture. Hotels well positioned but most standard quality, some 3-star - expected better with the price paid. Only a few were excellent. Tour director was amazing and the drivers lovely people.

I have already completed survey on this trip… how many surveys do you expect people to complete.. A major rethink needs to happen in regard to gratuities & the way in which gratuities are requested.. The hard sell & guilt trip are unacceptable..They should be included at the beginning with complete &open transparency or not at all.. The tour director & drivers are already on a salary… If their salary is not enough then insight needs to pay them more.. we the customers have already paid a large sum of money for the trip.. The issue of gratuities & extra payments was a well discussed issue amongst co travellers..

A really enjoyable tour of Great Britain and Ireland. I chose this trip because I wanted to visit all of these places, especially Scotland and Ireland and the fact that it was all organised and planned by someone else made it that even more appealing. Debra G.On Jul 9, 2025

The tour is an overview of highlights of the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Due to the pace of the tour, there isn't the time to do justice to every place you visit. While a few hours / one night stay is sufficient for some places on the tour, it isn't always the case. I knew this beforehand so it wasn't really a problem. The most frustrating thing about the itinerary were the tours on the bus with a guide. For example, the Liverpool Beatles and Music Tour was pretty much a waste of time because it wasn't possible to see anything of significance. It's one thing for the guide to point things out she could see from the front windscreen that you have no hope of seeing from where you sit. By the time the tour was finished, most of the music related museums were closed for the day and we were leaving in the morning. I wonder why we bother with Dartmoor when visibility is 25 metres? On the other hand, the guided walking tours of Derry / Londonderry and Edinburgh were a highlight with exceptional places and tremendous guides.

Great itinerary for the traveller who hasn’t been to this amazing country before to explore and soak up the sights, the history and all this tour has to offer.

Mary W.On Jun 23, 2025

Enjoyed the relax starts. Very impressed with the tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and personable. Excellent drivers.

AnonymousOn Jun 23, 2025

Very extensive, covered a big area in 22 days.

AnonymousOn Jun 23, 2025

Goes at a rapid pace.

Peter W.On Jun 23, 2025

Extensive & interesting in the main I am not sure what I would change but longer stays in some parts would be better

Alexandra S.On Jun 22, 2025

Great pace, never felt rushed or like more time was needed, except perhaps at Bath where more time would have been great. Highly organised and well planned.

Tour director was fabulous, he had everything organised. Did not have to worry about a thing. The drivers were fantastic. We covered a lot of kilometres, a lot of time spent in the bus but that was ok as we had frequent stops. Felt safe the entire time. The hotels were generally good although there was two, one with noisy children all night running and screaming up and down the halls and one a little basic. All you could eat breakfast and dinners were three courses very nice. We stopped at a lot of. Attractions. Had skipped the queue entries. We had plenty of time to shop and to look around. I would do another one without hesitation.

It was very busy but we understand that enabled us to cover a vast amount of the UK and Ireland. So it was tiring but we where very happy with the amount we saw. It was a great experience and trip. What did concern us was that we were unaware of the extra cost of add on experiences and the extra time they added to the day. I'm not sure if that is the fault of our travel agent not informing us. To do all of them was quite an expensive add on and we may not have chosen this tour if we had known this. Some of the extras meant arriving back at hotels late with an early start next day. We were also concerned with being told that an amount of £506 in gratuities was suggested as a standard to be shared by the tour guide and driver. We were informed of this towards the end of the tour. The reason given for this was that UK wages are quite low. We were informed by the tour guide he knew who had paid this before the tour started so again how did we miss out on this information. That and the cost of the extra experiences means that we would not be recommending this tour to friends and people we are meeting on the River Cruise we are presently on. We've spoken to English couples on this tour and they were surprised we were asked for these suggested gratuities. We did really enjoy the things we saw, learnt and did on this tour.

Totally enjoyed, the trip of a lifetime. Well organized and put together. Detailed and informative. Exceeded expectations. Accommodation and food excellent.

AnonymousOn Jun 16, 2025

We really enjoyed the tour. There was a lot of information given by our Tour director and the local tour operators. & the driver were a great team and they provided information about places and gave assistance with any questions we had in regards to hotels or navigating between places.

John G.On Jun 16, 2025

It is a long 22 days in places but well worth it Some of the lunch and morning tea stops could be shorter We had beautiful weather; l wouldn't like it if the weather was wet, but we had a great time

Frances W.On Jun 15, 2025

Great itinerary, covered so much in 22 days, some long days, but worth it. We had a great Tour Director and coach driver who made our holiday so much more enjoyable. We did alot of the optional extras, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Some highlights, would be Skara Brae, Edinburgh, Loch Ness, Isle of Skye, Giants Causeway, Ring of Kerry, Bath, Conway Castle, Bath and the lovely town of Wells. Highly Recommend

Anita R.On Jun 15, 2025

A good itinerary with a lot of walking. There appeared to be some difficulty for a couple of older participants to negotiate some activities. Perhaps a pre medical clearance could be considered.

Mark P.On Jun 13, 2025

Very comprehensive overview of England, Scotland & Ireland. Maybe would like a little more of Wales. Personally would love Cornwall included. 22days though was ideal length. Not sure what I would take out????? Maybe last 2 nights in Cornwall instead of Plymouth?

VOn Jun 12, 2025

Small villages we will be visiting

AnonymousOn Jun 12, 2025

Lots of optional extras. Our tour director, Alison, was incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of rest stops in the most charming places.

AnonymousOn Jun 12, 2025

The itinerary covers good ground, especially right up through the Orkneys, Isle of Skye and the oh so impressive Ireland As usual, the experience can be vastly different if the Tour Director is lazy or poorly informed, so although I am happy to endorse the itinerary the TD can just be the luck of the draw

AnonymousOn Jun 11, 2025

Gives a good oversight of England, Scotland and Ireland. Hotels are variable, some very good, occasionally excellent and some extremely disappointing though the disappointing hotels exclude those on the Scottish islands as you don’t expect 5* there. Hotels that are grubby and mouldy leave a lasting impression for all the wrong reasons and reflect badly on Insight as a company.

Pauline C.On Jun 8, 2025

It was a busy trip but our guide was amazing with his stories about the history of the land, this made our trip interesting and real. The coach drivers were fantastic taking us around the small country roads we felt very safe. We also had a great group of travelers with us. It was amazing trip and we would recommend the trip for anyone who wanted to see the United Kingdom

AnonymousOn Jun 8, 2025

In hindsight this holiday was far too long.Everthing seemed to be very rushed which gave a feeling of being anything but luxury.Credit must given to the coach drivers amazing skill negotiating the narrow roads. Also a passenger boarded the coach at the start of the trip with a virus which went through the coach. My wife became very ill with it and by the time we reached Dublin she was unable to breathe normally.Unfortunatly the tour director was no help to us.At the completion of the tour my wife spent 2 days in A and E at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington. So a very disappointing waste of time for us.I cannot in all honesty recommend this tour to anyone.

AnonymousOn Jun 8, 2025

The entire trip was too rushed. Even though we went to many places in the UK and Ireland, we really didn’t see much. I did love the visits to the little villages however. 22 days with only a couple of two night stops proved to be exhausting as stated by quite a few of our fellow travellers. The standard of many of the hotels stayed at and the quality of food served was at best not the standard I would have expected. A couple of the hotels the food was inedible. I must commend you though on the bus drivers. All three drivers we had were outstanding and I can not rate them high enough. After someone on the bus began coughing, it seemed to travel right through. I ended up in A&E on arriving back to London. There needs to be some sort of mask mandate to help protect other passengers. Particularly when it was such a long trip. I could not in all honesty recommend this tour to anyone that is not prepared for a hectic pace, questionable accommodation and below quality food. This being our first bus tour it will be our last.

Allie B.On Jun 3, 2025

Great tour with a top to bottom experience of the UK and Ireland. Easy starts and daily breakfasts as well as options for extra activities made this a great introduction to what the UK and Ireland have to offer.

Clive B.On Jun 2, 2025

Fantastic overview of Britain and Ireland that covered all the bases. In every city stayed we saw all the attractions we needed to see. A bit hectic at times but that is the nature of the beast. Could not have wished for anything more!

Sridhar S.On Jun 2, 2025

We searched for back to back trips for each country but were unsuccessful. So we selected the Britain and Ireland Discovery. We wanted to spend more time in each country and some cities. The discovery tour unfortunately made us spend more time on the bus then actual sightseeing. Which is understandable given the number of places we drove through. we even conssidered Luxury Gold, but that simply did not cover much ground.

The itinerary includes many destinations.

AnonymousOn May 30, 2025

A lot was covered in a very short space of time. The tour director knew the areas extremely well. The accommodation was a let down in a lot of places. Rooms not ready, toilets not working, small in floor space, incorrect room key given. However, there were a few hotels that were fabulous. The menus that were supplied: 3 courses was far too much for the average age on the bus. Often they were served late at night. The main meals appeared to be very cheap. Very dissapointed in standard of set menu meals. The specials on tour were mainly good. The tour director was excellent. If you want to see a lot in a short space of time, this tour does it.

It was a very good tour. However, there was too many one night locations for the length of this trip. The accommodation overall was good. There was a couple of places in particular that could be reviewed.

John M.On May 28, 2025

A wonderful trip which was very well organised and ran smoothly. The highlight was the presence of who was wonderfully well informed and looked after us so well. , the driver inspired us all with confidence. The only slight criticism was that the meals at the hotels were often rather dull but perhaps that is unavoidable when catering for that number.

I can’t say at this stage until we return home and analyse everywhere we went and that we did and saw. In summary though it was a great tour and showed us lot.

AnonymousOn May 28, 2025

I was cathedral and castled out by the end. Each one had their own unique character. Just too many. At times I felt we were rushed. Unfortunately on our trip a place pulled out at short notice that then added more travel for a meal. This is unfortunate for the tourer guide. A replacement was found but it added to a long day. As county folk more county sightseeing would have added to our trip. With this comment we also realize it’s difficult to suit everyone’s interests. Over all we enjoyed seeing what we’re able to see

AnonymousOn May 27, 2025

The places we went and saw were fantastic. Rob knott our tour guide could not have done better he was professional polite amd very helpful and generous with his time and his knowledge on the history and detail of the places we visited could not be surpassed, he is also an expert on how rock formations came yo be. Craig our bis driver was also amas ing he was polite Fun loving and an exceptional driver getting in and out of all the small roads dealing with other vehicles on the road that he had to negotiate passed. A number of hotels were not up to the standard we was told to expect with the last hotel we stayed at for two nights only having a dirty coffee machine in the foyer along with a tray of glasses and water along side a tray of ditlrty ones with milk for the coffee in a jug nit refrigerated as none of this was in the room, a dirty plastic shower Curtin and a small room with no were to put our suit cases.

It showed the important parts of the UK. There were very interesting sites that we were taken to that we would not have thought of or organised. A great addition to our holiday. We also had great precommentry before arriving at sites, where expert guides were booked for us. We were given culinary samples of local areas. Excellent choice of hotels and restaurants.

First we had an excellent tour guide and all of our drivers were exceptional. We were made to feel very comfortable and was very good at giving information about the places visited and history associated. He also carefully explained about timeing, allowing us time to see things on our own and be back on time. It was good to be able to have some time for ourselves too. We did go to many places and some parts were short in time but to be expected from the nature of coach driving. There were enough dinners provided and the optional excursions were excellent. Loved having the bus drop us off and pick us up! The accommodation at some places was unusual but that was ok especially in the highlands. gave us booklets to write information on (or could use our phones) which really helped me in particular especially with all the different room numbers in all the hotels as I could easily forget which one was which! We had excellent weather which was unusual but we were prepared for wet and cold weather (did not expect the sunshine and warmth in April) also there were umbrellas available on the coach. So in conclusion: a big itinerary so be prepared to be moving to different places and hotels (we were and had carry on bags packed with overnight supplies which was a good idea). Some people required laundry facilities which are not always available in the smaller places we visited. We expected this and were prepared for it too. In saying that was excellent in organising some hotels to launder clothes or could help people get to a laundry. Excellent tour guides are the best to have. Yes I would recommend your company to others.

AnonymousOn May 8, 2025

It was excellent and we saw heaps. Would like to have had time to see Shakespeare’s grave in church before we went to museum as church was closed by the time we got back to hotel. An extra night in Liverpool

AnonymousOn May 7, 2025

Improve the hotels...location ok but ones like Limerick was not double glazed and right on party street, Dublin, one side fire station other tent city! Glasgow, very nice room but hotel in dodgy area, didnt feelsafe. Plymouth was way out. Don't put singles in inferior rooms, we pay extra.l meals, should have option of 2 entrees instead of main. Whilst Ullapool was lovely, meant reduced time on Skye optional tour, barely saw skye. I've been before so know how reduced local guide was. Allow longer at Gretna Green. Glendalough optional was boring. Stop on Angelsey ie. Llanfair PG. Conwy was lovely. Cardiff, hope the company do not use the optional meal and Welsh night. Clearly they'd rather lose 21 bookings than bend rules for 4. Very bad.
