It is a brief overview of the UK. The only criticism is you do not get much free time.m
Great adventure, great driver, great passionate guide, great additional extras. Loved every moment ❤️
Covered off on all the major locations and got a wonderful overview of everywhere we went. Great tour company.
Destinations need more thought.
Poor. Too many optional
The tour was a good over all view of the UK and Scotland. We felt if you wanted to visit the UK again and tour on your own it gave a good way of knowing where to go and an overall orientation of the UK.
A little rushed. Too much coach time and only 2 times 2 nights in the same place. Could have missed Glasgow as it was not an exciting city. Other Insight tours I have been on started and finished at a hotel as part of the tour. In this case people had to make their own arrangements at the start and end of the tour. On this tour, tour director and driver were first class.
Feedback on Insight Vacations “Best of Britain” Tour Experience Now that I’ve returned home from the Insight Vacations “Best of Britain” tour, I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts and experience. When choosing between Insight Vacations and Trafalgar, we were told that Insight offered a more premium, luxurious experience — with smaller groups, upscale 4- and 5-star accommodations, and unique, authentic dining experiences such as cooking demonstrations, farm-to-table meals, and local cuisine. Based on this, we chose Insight over Trafalgar and willingly paid a higher price with the expectation of a more comfortable and relaxing vacation. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to those expectations. Optional Experiences – A Surprising Disappointment From day one, we were surprised to receive an “Optional Experience” list from the tour director. I asked why key sightseeing spots were not already included in the itinerary, especially on a tour titled “Best of Britain.” If these places are considered must-see, why are they not part of the core experience? Worse still, those who did not purchase the optional excursions were essentially left to wait around — with no alternative plans — until the group returned. This made us feel like second-class participants on a tour that we all paid a premium price for. Hotels – Far from Luxury One of the main reasons we selected Insight was the promise of 4- and 5-star hotel accommodations. What we encountered was a far cry from that standard. Our first hotel room had no air conditioning, and despite the hotel having AC rooms, we were told that our group was booked into rooms without it. A fan was brought, but we couldn’t use it due to allergies. A staff member promised to follow up but never did. Several hotels during the tour lacked AC, or had non-functioning units that were centrally controlled. We woke up multiple times throughout the night sweating, unable to rest properly. One hotel room was located directly next to a train track, and we were constantly disturbed by passing trains. Some hotels didn’t even provide drinking water unless we had “superior” room upgrades. Room views were non-existent — often facing walls, roofs, or back alleys. None of these experiences reflect the comfort and quality promised in a luxury tour. Dining – Anything but Unique or Authentic The meals provided were average at best — not the authentic or unique culinary experiences Insight claims to offer. On several occasions, we noticed that Trafalgar guests were dining in the same restaurants as us, with similar menus. This was disappointing, especially since we were led to believe that Insight offered a distinctly higher-end experience. Overall Impression Throughout the trip, it became increasingly clear that the “luxury” label Insight promotes does not match the reality. In fact, we repeatedly crossed paths with Trafalgar groups staying in the same hotels and eating the same meals — despite having paid a higher premium for what was supposed to be a more upscale experience. Friends of ours had been considering joining Insight Vacations and were waiting for our feedback. Sadly, based on our experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Insight as a luxury travel provider. We feel that we overpaid for a trip that did not deliver on its promises, and we left feeling more disappointed than delighted. Sincerely, Irene Teoh
