Itinerary

Start and end your journey in San Juan on this captivating 4-day tour through one of Argentina’s most remarkable regions. Explore the surreal landscapes of Ischigualasto, also known as Valle de la Luna, and Talampaya National Parks — both UNESCO World Heritage Sites celebrated for dramatic rock formations, deep red canyons, and ancient fossil beds.

Traverse vast desert plains shaped over millions of years and marvel at the extraordinary natural beauty that makes this region unique. This tour combines adventure, science, and stunning scenery, offering an unforgettable experience in the remote and awe-inspiring heart of Argentina’s desert north.

day 1 - Arrival and San Juan sightseeing

Upon arrival at San Juan Airport or bus terminal, transfer to your selected hotel for check-in.

In the early afternoon, enjoy a guided tour of San Juan’s charming downtown, including the Sarmiento Birthplace and Juan Victoria Auditorium, among other local highlights.

Continue west to the impressive Quebrada de Zonda to explore its stunning landscapes and, optionally, enjoy a wine tasting at Finca Sierras Azules Winery. End the day at Campos de Olivos to witness the traditional craft of olive oil production.

day 2 - Valle Fértil and Ischigualasto adventure

After breakfast, depart your hotel for Valle Fértil, stopping along the way at the iconic Difunta Correa shrine. Check in at Hostería Valle Fértil and prepare for an unforgettable adventure.

In the early afternoon, explore Ischigualasto Provincial Park, also known as the Valley of the Moon, with landscapes that seem otherworldly.

As night falls, enjoy a moonlit tour of the park, where the unique rock formations are bathed in silver light.

Note: During a full moon, the guided trek lasts 1.5 hours, is of medium-low difficulty, and is conducted without flashlights.

day 3 - Talampaya National Park and return to San Juan

After breakfast, visit the magnificent Talampaya National Park, renowned for its towering red cliffs and archaeological treasures.

After exploring, return to San Juan along National Route 150, passing through the scenic Cuesta de Huaco. Arrive around 8:00 PM and check in at your selected hotel.
