This route is easy, gradual ascent and the most popular route for climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. You will be sleeping in shared wooden huts where toilets, dining and washing rooms (cold shower) are available. This route is recommended proper acclimatization. The Marangu Route is also known as the "Tourist Route" or "Coca Cola Route".
And just about every tour operator will tell you:
The Marangu route is the easiest, cheapest and by far the most popular. Unfortunately, only one of these statements is true: climbing Kilimanjaro on the Marangu route is the cheapest option. You will need a sleeping bag, warm clothes and walking poles.
At Horombo we will take an extra day for acclimatization. During this day you will be able to take various walks so it is not at all a waste of a day. Rather, it is a great day and also one that will give you a much higher chance of reaching Kilimanjaro's top, as you will be properly acclimatized.
For a detailed itinerary, we kindly ask you to see the itinerary tab.
Machame Route (also known to as the "Whiskey Route") is the most beautiful route up Kilimanjaro with high summit success rate. It rewards hikers with scenic splendors. From late afternoon sunsets at Shira to the misty revelations of Kibo at the great Barranco Wall, witness a scenic "slide show" as you trek to the top of the world's highest free-standing mountain.
There is an added benefit to taking the Machame Route, as you are afforded the most valuable commodity on the mountain: acclimatization. The route takes you high to Lava Tower (4,630m) on Day 3 and brings you down by nearly 700m for an overnight at Barranco camp (3,950m). This is the secret to successful acclimatization.
(Note: All your equipment and supplies are portered and a cook prepares all your meals. While the accommodation on the Marangu route is in huts, the Machame route offers strictly tents only accommodation.)
See the itinerary section for more details about this tour.
The Selous Game Reserve, covering 50,000 square kilometres, is amongst the largest protected areas in Africa and is relatively undisturbed by human impact. The property harbours one of the most significant concentrations of elephant, black rhinoceros, cheetah, giraffe, hippopotamus and crocodile, amongst many other species. The reserve also has an exceptionally high variety of habitats including Miombo woodlands, open grasslands, riverine forests and swamps, making it a valuable laboratory.
The tour starts and ends in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and you will stay in Selous River Camp in a mudhut accommodation.
We promise you a fantastic safari, wonderful surroundings, a great guide, and breathtaking views of our Mother Planet.

Good experience. Quick communication. Nice land cruiser, good hotel, driver acted as guide and was knowledgeable and accommodating to our wishes. Would use their services again.
The sleeping accommodations and food were also excellent. We had absolutely nothing to complain about and didn't lack anything. This is a holiday I highly recommend to anyone who loves adventure.

Also known as the “Whiskey” route, the Machame route is now the most popular ascent route on Mt Kilimanjaro. Compared with the Marangu route, the walking days on the Machame route are longer and the walks are steeper. However, the scenery is spectacular and landscape interesting. The Machame route is considered a difficult route, and is better suited for more adventurous trekkers and those with some hiking or backpacking experience.
The Machame route is scenically beautiful and varied. However, due to its popularity there are increased numbers of trekkers, it loses some of its splendour. The Machame route approaches the summit from the southwest and descends using the Mweka route, rewarding climbers with views of the expansive Shira Plateau, an optional scramble up Lava Tower, a climb up the Great Barranco wall, and a traverse underneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice field.
Climbers sleep in supplied tents at designated campsites, and eat meals either outdoors or inside a large dining tent, depending on weather conditions. Bless Africa Tours staff will prepare all meals and set up and take down the tents.
The Machame route is a highly successful route to the summit as you climb high and sleep lower because of position of the campsites, which aids acclimatization. It also offers the opportunity to take an alternative route to the summit, either via Barafu camp or the less frequented and more difficult Western breach route. The minimum number of days required for this route is six days, although seven days is recommended to make the walk more enjoyable and improve acclimatization.
After arrival in Moshi and the hotel, there will be the opportunity to rest. Later there will be a meeting with the tour guide for a briefing about the trek and Mt Kilimanjaro and, very importantly, an equipment check.
In the south of Tanzania, stretching inland from the coast, lays Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary, the Nyerere National Park, a place that is bigger than the country of Denmark.
The park is located to the south of Mikumi, and it covers roughly 6% of Tanzania’s total area, making it four times the size of the vast Serengeti. Nyerere Park is so popular among travelers due to the simple fact that it contains the highest concentration of big game left on earth – 28,000 elephants, 160,000 buffaloes, as many as 2,000 hippos, and numerous sable antelopes.
This is one of the reserves in Africa that will give you multiple opportunities to explore: a =4 by 4 Jeep safari, a pleasant walking safari with an armed ranger as well as a boat safari along the Rufiji River or in the lake located within the reserve.
This package includes all the highlights of a safari trip in your Tanzania safari experience: Serengeti National Park (world heritage site), Ngorongoro Crater (world heritage site), Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Tarangire National Park with an option to visit Maasai village to have a practical experience of their culture, looking at their daily activities and more.
This gives you the chance to experience all the iconic animals of Africa on an intense, compact safari tour. At the same time, the trip features both hotel accommodation in Arusha and stay in a public tented camp, where you can enjoy first-hand interaction with the nature of Africa by sleeping in the tent. The tents are equipped with mattresses and sleeping bags, there are toilet facilities in the campsite within all the parks.
The 4 days tour typically start from/to Arusha but if you are flying into Tanzania then we have the option of picking you from the airport in Kilimanjaro and transferring you to Arusha and starting the tour the next day. You will be met at Kilimanjaro Airport by your guide, who will take you to a hotel in Arusha where you will check in and rest at the hotel.
Your tour will end in Arusha, but if you are flying out the next day we will drop you back to Kilimanjaro International Airport from Arusha.

We recently completed a 10-day adventure in Tanzania and I can confidently say it was one of the most incredible and well-organized travel experiences of my life. The tour was a perfect combination of challenge, natural beauty, and wildlife—featuring a 7-day Machame Route hike up Mount Kilimanjaro, followed by a 3-day classic safari through Tanzania’s top parks.

The Rongai route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north, close to the Kenyan border. Though gaining popularity amongst climbers, Rongai has low traffic. It is the preferred route for those looking for an alternative to the crowded Marangu route, for those who would like a more remote hike, and for those who are climbing during the rainy season (the North side receives less precipitation).
The Rongai route is one of the easiest route up to Kilimanjaro summit and it joins the Marangu route at Kibo hut. The minimum number of days required for this route is six days, and seven days are recommended. We have designed the trip for 7 days as that will allow for proper acclimatization on the mountain.
Wildlife can be seen on the lower slopes such as buffalo's, Elephants, Baboons and monkeys together with different species of birds.
Although the scenery is not as varied as the western routes, the Rongai route makes up for this by passing through true wilderness areas for days before joining the Marangu route at Kibo camp. On the way down this route goes together with the Marangu route.
The Rongai route as such is a moderately difficult route and relatively easier than other routes up Kilimanjaro. It is therefore highly recommended, especially for those with less backpacking experience, as the probability of reaching the summit will be higher.

Selous Game Reserve is pronounced Selooo. It is the largest protected wildlife area in Africa with 45,000 Square Kilometers of wilderness. It is bigger than the size of Switzerland, bigger than the size of South Africa’s Kruger National Park and twice the size of the famous Serengeti National Park. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982. It is named after the Englishman Frederick Courtenay Selous (1851-1917) who used to hunt and explore in the area during the British colonial era in Tanzania.
Selous hosts the largest population of elephants, lions, leopards, sable antelope, African wild dogs, buffalos and hippos. The park is also home toTanzania’s largest river, the hypnotic Rufiji River bisecting the reserve and home to hippos, crocodiles and various water-associated birds. The river forms a complex network of channels, lakes and swamps that create one of the most outstanding ecological wildlife systems in East Africa.
Well-watered, Selous Game Reserve is also home to the ferocious yet attractive tiger fish and vandu catfish, the latter equipped with a primitive set of lungs which allows it to migrate from one landlocked pool to another. The Selous is also rich in, open woodland, grassy plains, mountains and forests.
We promise you a fantastic safari, wonderful surroundings, a great guide, and breathtaking views of our Mother Planet on this camping safari.
We kindly refer to the Itinerary for a day-by-day programme.
The Tanzania Safari is incredible - we saw such a huge variety of animals so close up, all thanks to the expertise of our guide who went above and beyond to ensure we had the most amazing experience. Particular highlight was also the accommodation in the Serengeti - glamping right in the middle of a national park!
