Venture into the wild heart of Africa with the "6 Days/5 Nights - Best of Selous Game Reserve Camping Safari." Encompassing 45,000 square kilometers, Selous Game Reserve is Africa’s largest protected wilderness—twice the size of the Serengeti and larger than Switzerland. Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Selous is famed for its abundant elephant, lion, leopard, sable antelope, wild dog, buffalo, and hippo populations, as well as the mighty Rufiji River, which weaves through a landscape of channels, lakes, and swamps.

This camping safari promises close encounters with diverse wildlife, including rare aquatic species like tiger fish and vandu catfish. The reserve’s varied terrain—open woodland, grassy plains, forests, and mountains—offers endless discovery, while nights spent under the stars create an authentic safari ambiance.

day 1 - DAY 01: ARRIVE IN ARUSHA

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a representative from Across Africa Nature will warmly welcome you with a cold drink and pick you up with a private 4×4 safari vehicle and transfer to Arusha (approximately 50km or 31miles) a 45 to 50 minutes drive on a tarmac road for overnight at the Planet Lodge or similar (Dinner and breakfast included). Our representative will have a short safari briefing session with you at the lodge and leave you to relax and have dinner. This will be a truly life-enriching safari experience that will be lifetime memorable. Karibu Tanzania!

day 2 - DAY 02: ARUSHA TO SELOUS GAME RESERVE

Pick up from the Planet Lodge or similar at 0800am and drive to the Selous Game Reserve with your Picnic Lunch Packed and game drives en route via Mikumi National Park. Arrive at camping site in Selous Game Reserve and conduct afternoon and evening game drive.

day 3 - DAY 03: FULL DAY EXPLORE SELOUS GAME RESERVE

After breakfast full day game drive in a specially modified safari vehicle with a professional guide, in which you should see and learn much about a large number of animals, including all the great favorites – lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra – and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dog. Great variety of bird species. Wonderful scenery, with varied topography: wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with long views to far-off mountains.

Packed lunch and time to rest. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink – a place with a clear view all round so that no predator can creep up unseen! Back to the lodge by 6.30 for sunset and dinner when you’re ready.

As you reflect on what you saw during the day, you will have wine, coffee, juice and snacks to keep you relaxed.

On this day we shall conduct game drive and walking safari.

day 4 - DAY 04: FULL DAY EXPLORE SELOUS GAME RESERVE
