Bhutan is an immensely beautiful country and this trip really does cover the essence of it. You will get to see beautiful views of Himalaya mountains, you will visit a number of unique monasteries, historical fortresses and natural sights. The sequence of the visited places is well chosen, with the hiking trip to the Tiger´s nest the day before your departure. A cap is a must and some prior hiking training is an advantage. The food was very fine, with the hosts able to prepare a vegetarian option. Guide and driver both excellent. This really has been, without exaggeration, one of our best holiday trips. People were friendly, hospitable and the places we visited were magical, with no, or only a very few tourists.

Bhutan is well-known for some of the best and most exciting trekking trails in the Himalayan region. Connecting the valleys of Paro and Thimpu, the trail leads over high passes on an ancient trading route, passing through spectacular rhododendron forests, alpine yak pastures and beautiful lakes stocked with snowy mountain trout. My itinerary was adapted to my likings (nature, local cultural experience & food) and Maebar delivered well! Key highlights of the trip include: leisurely walks across the pine forests at Phobjikha Valley & rustic authentic villages, a challenging hike to Tiger's Nest at 4000m high, a unique local hot stone bath & cuisine dinner in a village home, immersing myself in ancient architectures & monastery way of life at Punakha and Rinpung Dzongs hundreds of years old etc. All hotel lodgings arranged were very comfortable, clean & spacious.
