I cannot praise our tour leader and my experience of visiting Costa Rica highly enough. The care and attention provided was excellent. The wildlife aspects of the itinerary exceeded expectations. The pace of the trip ensured there was a good balance between activities and relaxation making it well-balanced, a ‘holiday’ as well as a learning opportunity.

Definitely trip of a lifetime! If you’re thinking about doing it, it will be way better than you can even imagine. is an amazing trip leader! He really made the trip as great as it was. He keeps it laid back and fun while also participating with the group. If leads any other contiki trips in Africa those will be next on the list. I loved all of the activities. If you do the white water rafting, the hike at the end of it is no joke so pace yourself but it’s worth it. The bungee swing at Victoria falls is something I never thought I would do but I’m so happy I did. I did the cape town to Namibia trip. I wasn’t a huge fan of our trip leader Uften in Namibia but that portion of the trip and activities were great. He was just too focused on wanting everyone to go out and get drunk. I love going out and partying on these trips but I don’t know he just gave me weird vibes. Most of the girls on the trip weren’t a fan of his approach as a trip leader. I think my favorite part of the Namibia portion of the trip was the seal kayaking. Overall this is best trip I’ve ever been on and it will definitely be hard to beat. Extras that I recommend checking out that aren’t part of contiki if you have more free time before or after your trip starts: - cage shark dive in Capetown - paragliding in Capetown - cheetah walk in Windhoek

This trip is not for the faint- hearted. But for me, part of the appeal was very basic accommodation, sleeping in a hammock on deck and showering in cold river water. If you don't expect any luxury on the water, you'll love it. With no changing facilities on board apart from a rudimentary loo/ shower you get to know your fellow travellers very well. And great teamwork when the boat was caught in a storm, battening diwn the hatches. Explore make it clear that it isn't what most people would describe as a cruise!

The accommodation was as a described in the trip notes varying from a Radisson hotel to cute beach huts, cramped metal cabins on the ferry and hammocks close together on the deck of our private boat. If you can't cope with that then don't book this trip. We had a great group and a wonderful guide who coalesced as friends and had an amazing experience. Don't expect to see much mammalian or reptilian wildlife apart from some monkeys, dolphins and Cayman but on the motorised canoe trip on the smaller reaches of the Rio ***** and on Marajo there was copious exotic bird life. Be super careful about food hygiene on the public ferry - a few of us succumbed - but otherwise the food was good and the fruit delicious as was the piranah soup made from the piranah we caught that day.

Thank you to all concerned for a great trip Food and beer prices need doubling as service charge 10% and VAT 18%. Night under canvas listening to animal noises ruined by local very loud party until 2am Lion Rock. the walk into the rock itself is not easy as very uneven ground and lots of steps. definitely need walking poles if at all unsure on balance. Grand Hotel, Nuwara Eliya. Lots of staff but very slow service in bars and restaurants. 2 nights in Galle with own time to explore old town would have been much preferred to 2 nights at Bentota. Jeep ride around Colombo started well, but monsoon rain meant that we were all drenched, and commentary stopped. street food was just picked up from 3 men standing in side street. I had images of a street food market. the food itself in a cardboard box was just rice with a small amount of chicken, and a sweet sauce and chilli sauce, finally eaten in our hotel room. A sad end to a great trip

A full on trip which maximised our time in South Africa. A really good balance of cultural insights, scenery and wildlife. This wouldn't have been possible without our super guide Christian. He knew how to keep us safe, was resolutely positive and energetic, and made the trip. There was a lot of driving which we knew about when we booked. If we had more annual leave available, we would have booked an extra night in Capetown at the end. This would have enabled us to book both a Robben Island excursion, and a Cape of Good Hope trip. We are very glad that we booked this trip.
