For a country that went through such turbulent times, it is surprising to see Zimbabwe’s natural beauty come out unscathed. It still remains famous for its outdoor adventures and activities such as mountain climbing, wildlife safaris, game drives, freshwater fishing, hiking and whitewater rafting.

Zimbabwe Highlight

What makes Zimbabwe unique compared to other destinations?

Zimbabwe is one of those rare destinations that still feels genuinely wild and uncrowded, with a strong mix of safari, culture, and iconic scenery. It’s home to one of the greatest natural wonders in the world, Victoria Falls, but what makes it truly special is how easily it combines that with exceptional wildlife experiences. In places like Hwange National Park, you get vast, untouched landscapes and some of the highest concentrations of elephants in Southern Africa, without heavy tourist traffic. It’s a destination that feels raw, authentic, and incredibly rewarding for travelers looking for something beyond the typical safari circuit.

Zimbabwe's Hidden Gem

One lesser-known, off-the-beaten-path destination in Zimbabwe and why is it special?

Mana Pools National Park is one of Africa’s most remarkable wilderness areas and still feels truly remote. What makes it so special is the freedom of the experience — walking safaris are a core part of the offering, and wildlife encounters often happen on foot along the Zambezi River. Canoe safaris add another dimension, bringing you eye-level with wildlife in an environment that feels completely untouched. It’s one of those places that feels less like a destination and more like a true wilderness immersion.

Zimbabwean Way of Life

What are some key cultural insights travelers should know before arriving in Zimbabwe?

English is widely spoken, which makes travel easy. Greetings and polite interaction are important and appreciated. The pace of life is generally slower and more relaxed, so it helps to be flexible and patient with things.

Trip of a Lifetime

This safari exceeded every expectation. Exodus has created an outstanding itinerary that showcases the very best of Botswana and Zimbabwe, combining incredible wildlife encounters with comfortable lodges, knowledgeable guides, and unforgettable experiences. The wildlife viewing was simply exceptional and we were fortunate enough to witness some truly remarkable moments. The lodges were all unique, each with its own character, but every one was comfortable, welcoming and of excellent quality. The food was good and plentiful. We travelled with three couples and five solo travelers, and it was an absolute pleasure sharing this adventure with such wonderful people. The friendships, laughter and shared excitement added another special dimension to an already incredible experience.

The African Wildlife Explorer Cape Town to Victoria Falls trip is an exciting adventure and excellent value! While there are some long driving days, this is what allows for the ability to see so much beautiful scenery and wonderful wildlife. Our guide, Misheck, was very knowledgeable and an excellent driver, and did a good job of keeping the group together and on time during the many activity-filled days. All of the resorts were very nice, and some absolutely wonderful, as was the food. We saw loads of wildlife, beautiful scenery and fascinating scenes of daily life of the local people. Highly recommended!

The trip was exactly as advertised. Our guide, Shumba, and driver, Willard, were great. They explained things well, were knowledgeable, and prepared us daily for the next day. Saw lots of animals! Unfortunately no leopards, but did see a black rhino.

The trip overall was a great experience, one that I’m glad was planned out for me. The sheer amount of paper work, entry points and what not would be a complete hassle to do and figure out. So all the efforts of the guide was really appreciated. There were definitely locations where we all wished we had maybe a smidge more time in but the trip was overall well planned and now it’s a spot on my list I’d want to go back to and spend even more time at. One thing I will say though is that the pamphlet shared before the trip made it seem like you could only bring a large suitcase and a backpack or small hand bag but having a carryon was definitely possible, even on the smaller flights without extra charge and that may reduce down some of the weight off your back or large bag. But overall better to try to minimize as much as possible with the amount of moving around that’s done on this trip. Definitely a trip of a lifetime!

A fantastic trip which was excellent value for money. Our guides, who were with us throughout, were very knowledgeable and worked incredibly hard. The locations were outstanding and the wildlife was superb.

Not to be missed!

This is an amazing trip and actually was better than my expectations. Crossing four countries but focusing on Namibia. If you love varied landscapes and animals this is the trip for you.
