Recognized as the oldest continuous civilization in the world, there’s little doubting China’s ability to impress the visitor when it comes to history. While today’s communist state may be secular, the country boasts impressive Buddhist temples alongside magnificent structures from its long imperial past.

This was a well designed tour with times on the Great Wall where no other tourists were seen. There is a mix of unrestored wall in various conditions and restored parts to hike along. Just what I was after. The tour guide, John, was very knowledgeable and interested in the history of both the wall and China. He was also very patient. The Xi'an extension was also good, but I would love to have had the chance to see pandas and think this should be added to the itinerary. Unfortunately, our group could only fit in visiting on a Monday when the nature reserve is closed.

Excellent Service

Heartfelt Thanks for an Amazing China Trip! Dear Olivia, I hope this message finds you well. Our family of four recently returned from our trip to China, we wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for all your efforts in making it such a wonderful experience. From the seamless arrangements—the comfortable car, professional driver, and knowledgeable guides—to the well-planned itinerary, every detail was executed perfectly. We truly felt cared for throughout our journey, and it’s all thanks to your hard work and attention to detail. We had an incredible time exploring China’s beautiful sights and culture, and much of that joy came from knowing everything was so well taken care of behind the scenes. Your dedication made our trip stress-free and memorable. Please also extend our gratitude to the rest of your team. Wishing you all the best, and thank you once again. Kyle 2025 September

A trip with spectacular scenery and delicious food! Our excellent guide John worked hard to meet the diverse needs of the group and we felt really looked-after. The walking on the Wall is quite intense, with lots of inclines and lots of wild areas, but it was worth it for the views and for the experience.

This has been my 6th tour with trafalgar and my 24th country and I must say this was the cleanest and nicest country I've been too. To say don't believe what you've thought about this country would be an understatement. From the culture to the people we felt welcomed and untreated everywhere you go. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating and went over and above to make our experience memorable. If you can make it past the 19hrs in the air this trip is highly recommend, my only regret it wasn't long enough. Until our next visit.

This was the most incredible trip. Our guide, Oli (Luo) was fabulous. His English was excellent, he had a great sense of humour and he was extremely knowledgeable about all of the places we walked and visited. My fellow travelling companions were great and we enjoyed each other’s company. The views were amazing as was the food and I fell in love with China and its people and have memories I will treasure. Don’t forget your toilet roll or mosquito spray.

Without question, the overall tour guide - *personal info removed by Feefo* - was the meat-and-potatoes of the entire tour. His knowledge of historical and regional Chinese culture and language, and his unwavering support for each member of our tour was unparalleled to any tour I have previously been on, with any tour company. I really can not emphasize enough how on-the-ball he was; two highspeed rails, two in-country Air China flights. and a river cruise, and he made everything just unfold without any drama. He also had a very good report with our local city guides, and either from instinct or experience knew when to let them run the show, or when to add in his wisdom. Look, China was going to be an exciting trip either way, but having a tour guide who was professional, helpful, and patient 24/7 for over two weeks is unheard of. But it happened!

  • The highlights of any China tour, Stroll the medieval remains of the breathtaking Great Wall of China. Though it may not be visible from space as legend has it, that takes nothing away from the sheer immensity of a structure stretching 6250 kilometers.
  • Head to Xian and come face to face with the 8000-person strong Terracotta Army in the 2,500-year-old Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum, only discovered in 1974.
  • Gaze at the amazing architecture of Beijing’s Forbidden City, the palace complex that was the main residence of China’s emperors for close to 500 years. The world’s largest collection of ancient wooden buildings, many of the 1000 buildings date back to the early 1400's.
  • Hop aboard a bullet train to Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region, where centuries of Buddhist tradition continue amid impressive relics from former ages, including the Potala Palace, the historic home of the Dalai Lamas.
  • Glimpse the embalmed body of Mao Zedong, the man who created modern China, at his Mausoleum in Beijing, where he has laid at rest under guard since his death in 1976.
