Two-Week Journey Through the Silk Road

The Silk Road, also called the Silk Route, served as a bridge between the East and the West in ancient times. In fact, the cultural exchanges along the road has left an important mark in human history, the patterns of which are visible even today. Join us on this 14-day guided tour and explore the regions in China from where the Silk Road travels through, including Urumqi, Kashgar, Turpan and Duhan. But before you head into the Chinese interior, we will take you out to see the highlights of Beijing, which includes the famous Great Wall, Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City. Fly to Kashgar, also known as the pearl of the ancient Silk Road, via Urumqi next. Visit the famous Sunday Bazaar in Kashgar. Also see the Id Kah Mosque, a 500-year-old mosque that holds special significance among locals, and take a walk down Kashgar’s old street. See the highlights of Turpan before taking the high-speed train to Dunhuang. Located on the edge of the Gobi Desert, Dunhuang was once a frontier garrison on the Silk Road. it’s claim to fame rests on the Mogao Caves, a complex of 492 grottoes adorned with Buddhist statuary and frescoes. Next, its time to see the defining symbol of more than two millennia of Chinese history. Travel to Xian and visit the Terracotta Army Museum, home to the Terracotta Army, with your tour guide. In sharp contrast to this enduring legacy of more than 2,000 years of Chinese history stands Shanghai, your final destination on the itinerary. A modern-day metropolis and China’s financial capital, Shanghai is probably the best place in the country to experience the collision of culture and modernity. One Day Longji Rice Terraces Tour

Pickup time from your hotel is at around 9:00am. Drive about 2.5 hours to arrive at the ticket office of Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area. Continue to the middle of the mountain, where the entrance of the Ping’an Minority village is located, take a trolley car to the top viewing platform of the Longji Rice Terraces famous as “Nine Dragons and Five Tigers”. Then walk along the rice terraces to another sightseeing named “Seven Stars Accompany Moon”. Continue to walking down into the minority village and lunch rest. Walk back to our car, drive back to Guilin, enroute, visit another Minority Village famous as “Long hair Yao Village”. Drive back to hotel in Guilin at about 18:00. Before back to hotel, you are suggested to visit the Reed Flute Cave(1hr) with numerous stalactites and stalagmites in unique shapes and lightened up by artificial colorful light inside. You are suggested to experience the Night Cruise in Four Lakes around the Guilin City in the evening, which lasts for 1hr and offers the unique night city and lakes‘ view lightened by the colorful lights behind trees, bridges, buildings. You could also have chance to see the fishermen fishing with their cormorants in the third lake-Osmanthus Lake.

As a setting of Ang Lee’s classic 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', Hongcun was catapulted to international fame overnight. A beautiful village located in Anhui province, Hongcun was often frequented by painters wanting to capture the beauty of this place on their canvas in the past. Join us on this guided day tour and explore this ancient village with a rich history and a beautiful landscape. Your English-speaking tour guide will call you one day in advance to reconfirm the details of the tour. Arrive in the lobby of Huangshan International Hotel ( Number 31, Huangshan Road, Tunxi District, Huangshan city) before 08:00 am and meet your tour guide and group members. Enjoy a 90-minute bus ride (shared) to Hongcun Village. See various sights in the village, including South Lake, Chengzhi Hall, Lexu Hall, Shuren Hall, etc. The 150 or so houses in the village were built during the time when Ming and Qing dynasties ruled over China. Spend two hours exploring the village before making your way back to the meeting point in Huangshan.

Guilin Li River Cruise and Yangshuo Countryside Day Tour

On this guided tour, explore the striking Chinese countryside as you sail across the Li River between staggering karst hills. In the morning, your tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in Guilin and escort you to the Pier, where you will start the Guilin Li River cruise to Yangshuo. The boarding time is scheduled at 9:30 am, and the whole journey takes about 4 hours. Learn more about the region and its history from your guide as you lose yourself in the stunning karst landscape. As you cruise along the Li River, wonder at the towering hills, verdant forests, odd caves and tranquil villages. A simple Chinese lunch will be offered on board before you reach Yangshuo at 2:00 pm. After disembarkation, you will be driven to see the picturesque countryside of Yangshuo, or you can choose to cycle around at your own pace. At the end of this Guilin-Yangshuo tour, you will be transferred back to the hotel in Guilin.

A colorful exploration and discovery

China is a multi-ethnic country, especially in the southwest of China, where there are many ethnic minorities. This exploration tour of China's ethnic minorities has made me more aware of their culture and customs. They have their own language, their own traditional clothing, their own eating habits and special marriage customs, and so on. It is really colorful! I like this kind of real travel and recommend it to you.

Great trip through all the highlights of China

Physically not easy at times (quite a bit of hiking and walking around with your backpack in the heat, and comfort levels are quite low both in overnight trains and hotels) but definitely rewarding. Would definitely recommend it to others.
