UK and Britain Tours and Trips

6,512 reviews on bookmundi

Anyone making a trip to the UK will inevitably pass through London, one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic cities. Further north, Manchester, home to two of the world’s most famous football clubs, is another vibrant and lively place to visit. A tour of the UK could also take in lesser-known destinations like Robin Hood’s Bay, a quaint fishing town located in the scenic North York Moors National Park.

This is a fairly rigorous itinerary and there is a lot of walking involved, as you would expect in Europe. Sidewalks are sometimes narrow and cobble stoned. If you have any difficulty maintaining balance and walking over a mile at a time, this itinerary will tax your ability. If you take advantage of the many additional tours offered, many of which are in the morning, and evening meals, you are in the coach from 8 am until 9 pm.

Our tour leader, Besa, was excellent - knowledgeable, articulate, sensitive to occasional individual needs or preferences and with enough experience to run our itinerary with the flexibility that, for example, avoided the worst of Tirana's traffic, or the busiest period of the day at popular sites or the best time of day to see certain viewpoints. Our driver, Astrit, was extremely safe and patient, having held an Albanian driving license for many decades. High praise for both; a really well thought out trip taking in many highlights of a little known, but beautiful country, culture and people.

The driver was knowledgeable, the accommodation was good and the experiences were all really good. The sunset bbq and star gazing was a really enjoyable with a very interesting talk given by the guide about the constellations which brought the group together. The sunrise Field of Lights was amazing and the information on Uluru, Kata Tjuta and Kings Canyon was very informative.

This trip exceeded my expectations, probably helped by the glorious week of autumn sunshine, showcasing the best of Lake Como. The hotel is excellent with very attentive staff and the location is stunning with glorious views from my bedroom balcony across the northern lake. Gravedonna is a laid back lake shore town with a more local vibe than some its more famous neighbours, like Bellagio and Varenna, so a superb base for Como exploration. Our guide (Kristians) was top-class, very caring and informative and a pleasure to travel with. The walks are very scenic with spectacular views across the Lake. The walking is possibly a little 'tame' for the trip grade, but hugely enjoyable all the same. The use of public transport is excellent and travelling by local buses and boats really added to the experience.

Excellent safaris, many close up encounters with game. Great camps and accommodation. Well prepared food in the wild by great cooks, and camps superbly set up. One or two encounters with elephants and hippopotamus slightly worrying. Our driver, guide was great, though the length of hours he had to drive were too long on some occasions, though he never complained. He was extremely knowledgeable about the game and the policy of the game reserves. Excellent holiday but you do need to be able to rough it.

We really enjoyed Malta and Sicily trips. All guides at sites visited were v knowledgeable and informative; both tour leaders, Chantelle and Daniele, were enthusiastic and went to great lengths to make our trip the best possible, and we had some interesting and fun fellow travellers. Thanks very much.

UK — Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

The United Kingdom is well known across the world for the royalty that live there, across London and Edinburgh or to see the towering metal spires and medieval castles. They are also well known for their ocean-side hiking trails that pass by fossil-infused cliffs all across the coastlines. Sit down for a cup of tea and cake, or for the more adventurous ones, head underground to their numerous pubs spread throughout every city corner.

Tour Highlights

While the British live on an island, they definitely aren’t disconnected from the world. You’ll find England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland have more museums, modern amenities, hiking trails, historical monuments, castles, and tourist attractions than you can imagine. Here are a few of the best ones that you can’t miss when visiting the UK:

  • Have a taste of royalty in London, the capital of both England and the UK, by visiting Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge, Big Ben. Don’t forget to get your iconic photos with the royal guard, the red phone booths, and the big red buses.
  • Understand the mysterious Stonehenge “hanging rocks”, one of the most beautiful monuments across Europe. They are almost 5,000 years old and the mystery of why they stand still is unknown to this day.
  • Ride across Scotland on the “Hogwarts Express” train where you’ll recognize many of the scenes from the movie as well as exploring their many medieval castles and the elusive Loch Ness monster.

Travel Tips

  • It is best to avoid making travel plans to the UK from December to February as these are winter months. The days are short and the weather is dreadfully cold for you to enjoy your time outside.
  • London and many of the cities in the UK are quite expensive so cut costs wherever you can.
  • There aren’t many free things to do but search for state-run museums and galleries so you’ll be able to get in for free.
  • If you’re called “love” or “darling” when you’re in a bar or hear a dry joke that you may not understand, that’s just the English sense of humor!
