Everything was great; however we needed more time at all the wonderful hotels we stayed at, plus it would be nice if more Scottish experiences (bagpipers, and/or alike), we didn’t see the animals at the Safari, so I feel visiting the raptors, where we saw the Hairy Coos, would have been better, because the vistas at the Safari were great; however we saw plenty of fabulous vistas after that.

This tour follows most of the 92-mile national long distance trail of the same name through the southwestern part of the Scottish Highlands. It is claimed by some to be the most popular long distance trail in the British Isles. Starting at the village of Drymen just outside Glasgow, it includes Loch Lomond, valley routes through the mountains round Crianlarich and open heather moorland across the Rannoch Moor wilderness area. It passes close to somber Glencoe, famed for its massacre of the MacDonald Clan, and finishes at Fort William near the foot of Ben Nevis (Britain's highest peak, which can be readily ascended by experienced clients if they choose to spend an extra day). The West Highland Way is a well-established and popular route, containing some landscapes of great beauty. The altitude range is from sea level to 1850 ft (4408 ft if Ben Nevis is climbed).

St Cuthbert's Way - 8 Days

Follow the peaceful St Cuthbert’s Way, a pilgrimage trail crossing the Scottish-English border to the Holy Island of Lindisfarne.. Walk in the footsteps of St Cuthbert, the 7th-century monk whose life shaped the religious history of northern Britain. This historic pilgrimage route links Melrose Abbey in the Scottish Borders, where Cuthbert entered monastic life, with the Holy Island of Lindisfarne off the Northumberland coast, where he served as bishop and was originally buried. The St Cuthbert's Way long-distance trail connects places associated with his life, crossing the border from Scotland into England through some of the region's quietest countryside. The route passes through the Tweed Valley and Eildon Hills of southern Scotland and across the open landscapes of the Cheviot Hills and onwards to the Northumberland coast, with its wide sandy beaches and dramatic tides. Along the way, you'll visit historic border towns and villages including Melrose, Kirk Yetholm and Wooler. The area is rich in history, from ruined abbeys and medieval castles to ancient battle sites and reminders of the turbulent past of the Scottish-English borderlands. St Cuthbert's Way is one of Britain's quieter long-distance walking routes, offering a mix of rolling farmland, woodland paths, open hills and coastal walking.
