Natallie was an amazing lead, she was wonderful during the entire journey, the hotels that we stayed at were nice as well. Overall a very good experience.
Excellent tour Matt our tour guide was awesome Benny our bus driver was great. Great group of travelers Right amount of free time and excursions
This was by far my favourite tour. My tour guide was very knowledgeable about the country and all the areas we went too. The safari's and other excursions were great. I only wish that when cage diving a shark had actually come, but that is just luck.
Amazing experience doing the full SAE tour! Forever grateful to Expat Explore for the unique opportunity to immerse into a country's culture with thoughtful itineraries, memorable experiences that push outside one's comfort zone, all while engaging with new lifelong friends, knowledgeable guides, & precious locals. Highly recommend the tour, including the optionals.
I enjoyed the first week of the south African tour, the second week was also enjoyable but I felt two days in Kruger park and Timbavati lodge would have been sufficient, as there was very little to do.
We have just spent a fantastic two weeks exploring some of what South Africa has to offer tourists led by our enthusiastic, flexible and knowledgeable guide Willem. We saw breathtaking scenery, ate some amazing food, stayed in interesting accommodation and were enthralled by the range of wildlife we saw up close.
South Africa is mind blowing. The tour was mind blowing. Hotels and food fantastic. I've done 5 trips, first with Expat and I'll be doing more. A lot of our great experience was in a large part due to Willem Steenkamp, our guide. One of the best I've had. Professional, super organised, great sense of humour and huge knowledge and passion for SA. Our bus drivers were so nice despite having to drive such long journeys
My friends and I had an enjoyable tour of South Africa. The tour was well planned. We saw some incredible places and met wonderful people on our trip.
It was an unforgettable adventure filled with fun. And thanks to our knowledgeable, very kind and a lively tour leader Matt. He's awesome! He made the whole trip more enjoyable.
Tour guide(Matt)is very knowledgable of the towns and history od South Africa. First part of tour(western cape) was truly amazing had no Idea South Africa had such beautiful mountains and coastlines. Second part (kruger ) has been unforgettable the animals in the wild are beyond description. Best part of the whole trip was the Safari lodge we stayed at lovely rooms but the most incredible part was at night you sit on your porch and the zebras wildebeasts and warthogs come in to feed on the grasses and literally graze just feet away from you. Third tour with expat and they just seem to get better PLanning the next one right now.
Just got back from an incredible tour of South Africa and it's an experience that will stay with me all my life. And Matthew our tour guide was the best tour guide i have ever had the pleasure of meeting and touring with. He's a credit to Expat Explore
This was an extraordinary trip. Our tour leader, Matt made it truly memorable and terrific fun. Everyday was action packed; up early and late nights interacting with other guests over a drink. Expat Explore really knows how to do South Africa!
This tour was fantastic we saw so much of South Africa far more than I ever imagined, the highlight of the tour was obviously Kruger the amount of animals we saw was insane, Matt our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, our driver Aby was a great driver and very friendly, Denny our second driver was friendly helpful and also a great driver, I would highly recommend this tour.
We join Willem, our brilliant guide (and outstanding driver Abraham) in Cape Town. Will was, and continued to be enthusiastic and knowledgeable throughout our tour. His organizational skills and sense of humour really enhanced an excellent itinerary. There is a lot to see and do on this trip, some days were too busy for me, but there were no issues will taking some personal time by skipping an excursion. All of the hotels were adequate, half were very good. Three days in Krueger Park is not necessary, so if you are feeling like a break- the hotel here is a great place to do it. I would have been happy with only two wine tastings. I cannot think of a better way to experience e this part of the world.
Packed with great activities, experiences and interesting people.
The tour exceeded our expectations. It was vert fast paced so be ready to spend lots of energy. We came away feeling that we saw all of the highlights in the area and more. We came 3 days early so our jet lag was over by the time we started the tour. It also gave us a chance to tour Robbins Island, which was not part of Xpat's itinerary. Food and accommodations were very satisfactory and our tour guide was energetic, knowledgeable and went beyond the call to spend time with each of us, determine our needs and to answer questions or respond to special requests. He was professional and clearly had a lot of passion for this beautiful country.
Loved this tour!! This was my fourth tour with Expat and it was an amazing experience! The game drives/safaris and the Soweto tour were definite highlights for me. Our tour leader, Matt, was awesome! If we had any concerns he would take care of it. So knowledgeable of the country. We also had an awesome tour group. Everyone got along so well, which just added to the experience. If you ever get the chance to do this, go for it! You won't be disappointed.
From wildlife to adventure, you really see it all. This is the second time I have done this tour in under an year and yet I would happily come back and do it all over again! There's so much to do and see, it's amazing what can be fitted in to just 2 week!
This was my 3rd Expat tour and by far my favourite. The route is filled with stunning scenery and amazing excursions. The quality of hotels is outstanding! If you have done a European Expat tour you will notice how much higher luxury the hotels are on this tour. The guide (Matt) was amazing. He knew so much and kept the entire group entertained and informed, sometimes he was even funny! The Driver (AB) for the first part of the tour was so great! Such a good driver and he was super friendly and always funny. We were so lucky with our tour group and it was a very rare small group with only 10 of us. We bonded well and we were like a little family. A highlight was that we were also joined by 2 Expat Employees from the South Africa head office. Alex and Niku were 2 of the nicest, kindest gentleman I've ever met. They are a true asset to Expat. Having them on the tour made this a unique experience of asking questions and learning from locals. I think it's great Expat allow employees to sample the tours they work on, all of us loved meeting them. Top tour Tip: if you are someone who doesn't normally eat breakfast very early bring a few bags or Tupperware and make yourself a breakfast to take on the bus later in the day. Top tour tip: if you are travelling as a group of 3 you can buy the single supplement and rotate who has the single room. This was a cost effective method that worked well for us. Watch out: this is a 2 part tour!. Be aware if you only book one leg you will be departing the tour mid-way and leaving all your new friends behind. The last day of this leg is a lot of driving so it would be a shame to end the tour here. I'd highly recommend doing both parts of this tour and save your self some serious FOMO. Thankfully I signed up to both legs of the tour and loved everything and honestly can't think of anything that wasn't perfect.
We were lucky to have a very small group. Everyone was friendly and easy to get along with. The tour was an incredible experience for me and my family. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
Matt our tour leader, was exceptionlsl. He went way beyond the call of duty.He is in control of every situation. Thanks to Matt check in at each hotel was immediate. He is so approachable & kind. It is obvious he is passionate about his home country South Africa.Every trip was well chosen. Hotels & meals exceptional.Did I mention that Matt knows everything about SA.? I was also fortunate that we were joined by 2 Expat employees,Nico & Alex.2 gentlemen, helpful & kind to me,which I apprecited as I am a pensioner. This trip surpassed all my expectations.Thank you Matt & the boys & our 2 bus drivers Abi & Paul.
It was a great tour, we saw so much and there were so many included experiences. The places we visited were varied giving us a range of fabulous experiences. As well as the fabulous safaris seeing the wild animals, there was so much else to see and do in South Africa. The optional tours were good giving us even more great things to see and do. I would definitely recommend this tour. Our tour guide Willem was fantastic, he was very passionate and enthusiastic about South Africa and eager to pass that on to the passengers. He was very knowledgeable on a wide range of topics and could answer any questions asked. He was very organised and the tour ran like clockwork. Willem was always walking through the bus speaking to every passenger asking if they had any questions or if there was anything he could do for them and he was a really lovely person. Both of our bus drivers, Francois and Pieter were lovely and professionalm and good safe drivers
Fantastic holiday and Willem was so good and he was so organised and I really appreciated it
What a wonderful tour from start to finish. We saw and experienced so much of South Africa in the 14 days. There are so many highlights in the tour from whale watching in Hamanus Bay to being on safari in the Kruger National Park. Our Tour leader Willem was very knowledgeable and passionate about his home country. He tried to engage with everyone on the tour, walking up and down the coach chatting and answering questions. His organisational skills were excellent, giving us daily updates and hand outs to ensure everyone knew the following day's itinerary. Even down to room keys being ready thus avoiding long checkin queues. Our daughter is dairy and gluten free and Willem checked on her for every inclusive meal to make sure she always had something to eat. Kept us entertained on some of the longer drives with quizzes, jokes and facts about the Country.
So many wows on this tour I dont know if I can do it adequate justice in a review. From the amazing scenery driving around Cape Town all the way down to the Cape of good Hope then along the coast and seeing all those whales at Hermannus then the drive along the garden route and then there is the amazing Kruger and seeing all those animals in the wild was breathtaking and getting so close to them was something truly spectacular. All of this wouldn't have been possible without our excellent tour leader Will and his knowledge and passion for his country and would do another tour with him as leader anyday and hopefully will again.
