Itinerary
Reaching the summit of Africa’s tallest peak is within your grasp on the Seven Day Lemosho Route. This guided trek to Mount Kilimanjaro’s Uhuru Peak is a favorite among trekkers for its beautiful scenery and one of the highest summit-success rates available, thanks to excellent acclimatization opportunities.
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Moshi to Londorosi Gate, then winds through diverse landscapes as you approach the summit on Day 6. The Lemosho route stands out for allowing climbers to experience the mountain’s western, northern, and eastern faces—each offering unique perspectives and photo opportunities.
What makes this trek exceptional? Its high summit success rate (over 95%) and the chance to explore three different sides of Kilimanjaro. With all accommodation, transport, meals, and expert guides included, this tour package is ideal for adventure seekers determined to conquer Africa’s iconic peak.
day 1 - Londorossi Gate (2,100m) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,980m)
Your day starts early after breakfast at your hotel. A two-hour drive takes you from your hotel (910m) to Londorossi Park Gate (2,100m). Your guides and porters prepare and pack your supplies and equipment at the park's gate while you get yourself registered. Start trekking through a rainforest until you reach the final destination of the day.
day 2 - Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,810m) to Shira II Camp (3,900m)
Today is a long day because we will skip Shira I Camp and head directly to Shira II Camp. Around 7:00 am, you will start your hike from Mti Mkubwa and travel through the heath and moorland zone, followed by the Shira Ridge. Enter a vast, high-altitude desert plateau and enjoy your first view of Mount Kilimanjaro. Stay overnight at Shira II Camp (3,900m).
day 3 - Shira II Camp (3,900m) to Barranco Camp (3,900m)
The moorlands soon come to an end. The trek will then take you into an alpine desert up to the Lava Tower (4,600m) before descending to Baranco Camp (3,900m). This descent to Barranco Camp takes about three hours and offers great opportunities to take some beautiful photos of the mountain's western breach as well as the Barranco Wall.
Your campsite is situated in a valley below the wall, which should provide you with memorable sunset views while waiting for dinner.
day 4 - Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,000m)
This is another favorite day whereby after breakfast you will leave the campsite and climb the Baranco Wall (4,200m). It will take four hours to reach Karanga Camp (4,000 m), where you will spend the night.
day 5 - Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640m)
After breakfast, you will start your journey to Barafu Camp (4,640m). On the way, you will get to enjoy scenic views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Enjoy kunch on reaching the campsite. Try to get some sleep after an early dinner as you will have to wake up at around midnight to start climbing to the summit.
day 6 - Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) & down to Mweka
Today is the big day. Wake up exactly at around midnight and have some light tea with cookies. You should be on the crater rim at Stella Point (5,756m) as the first rays of the sun hit the mountain.
It takes one hour form Stella point to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Take some photos and enjoy the scenery. Then start descending to Barafu Camp for lunch and some rest before heading down to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for dinner and overnight.
day 7 - Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (1,630m) & Moshi
Walk down a montane forest to reach Mweka Gate. Complete park formalities, receive certificates and jump into the vehicle that will take you back to your hotel in Moshi. Please note that tonight's accommodation is also included in the tour price.
