day 1 - Cairo Arrival

Welcome to Egypt! Cairo, dubbed Al-Qahirah in Arabic, is not only one of Africa’s largest cities (with a population of 17 million people), but this fascinating city is a bustling political and cultural center of the Arab world. The Egyptian capital’s old quarters still retain their ancient charm, with many streets that continue to be relevant to the descriptions given to them by their medieval chroniclers. Modern Cairo’s architecture is distinguished by the Ottoman and later European influences – particularly in commercial architecture as the city’s population boomed throughout the 19th century. Upon arrival at the Cairo International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel to check in and get settled in!

day 2 - Cairo

Spend the day at the Giza Plateau, home to one of Egypt’s signature attractions: The Great Pyramids, proclaimed by the Greeks to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. A single pyramid is built from 2,300,000 blocks, each weighing an average of two and one–half tons. In the face of such immensity, one cannot help but feel the wonder and awe which so many writers and artists have sought to convey over the centuries. This morning, see the Great Pyramid of Khufu and the timeless Great Sphinx of Giza, dating from the time of Chephren (2620 BC). Sculpted from natural yellowish limestone and standing 65 feet high and 187 feet long, this unforgettable statue combines the head of a Pharaoh with a lion’s body.

Optional: Sound and Light show at the Pyramids
Enjoy the evening with the incredible Philae Temple Sound and Light Show. This show will take you on a narrated journey to discover the legends of Goddess Isis and God Osiris. There is a marvelous story for this temple, from the early centuries when the site of Philae was flooded for six months each year. An incredible restoration program was undertaken in the 1960s, and the Temple was moved stone by stone to its current location. Enjoy the spectacular lights of the multimedia presentations which vividly reveal the form and majesty of this ancient site and walk through the magnificent temple as its history is narrated.

day 3 - Cairo – Aswan (by Flight & Cruise Embarkation) – Kom Ombo

In the morning you will be transferred back to Cairo’s international airport to board your flight to Aswan. Upon arrival in Aswan, you will be escorted to the cruise ship for boarding. This will be your home for the next three nights. Break the day with lunch on the Historia while sailing to Kom Ombo and enjoy a short walk to the twin Temples of Sobek and Horus. One is dedicated to the crocodile God, Sobek, and the other to the falcon God, Horus the Elder. There are clear depictions of ancient medical instruments on one wall. Kom Ombo's Greco-Roman-style Temple of Sobek built for the Crocodile God stands serenely on a hilltop, and the site offers incredible views of the Nile River. Unwind in this beautiful area with stunning views and tea-time.

day 4 - Kom Ombo – Edfu – Esna

Enjoy a savory breakfast while sailing to Edfu. Visit the hidden gem of the Edfu Temple. Break the day with lunch on the Historia while sailing to Kom Ombo and enjoy a short walk to the twin Temples of Sobek and Horus. day 5 - Esna – Luxor

After breakfast, you will cross the newly constructed Luxor Bridge to visit the Valley of the Kings and Queens, including Hatshepsut (El-Deir El-Bahari). The Valley of the Kings is home to many pharaonic tombs of the New Kingdom, including those of King Tutankhamun and Ramses the Great. Each king's formal name and title are inscribed in his tomb, which is also adorned with his images and statues. Most of the tombs were cut into limestone following a similar pattern: three corridors, an antechamber, and a sunken sarcophagus chamber. From there you will visit the Valley of the Queens which includes 75 to 80 tombs. These tombs belong to Queens of the 18th, 19th, and 20th Dynasties. Among these lies the tomb of Nefertiti, one of the five wives of Ramses II. From there you will explore The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, the only female Pharaoh to rule ancient Egypt. The mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut of the 18th dynasty was built just north of the Middle Kingdom temple of Mentuhotep Nebhepetre, amid the bay of cliffs known as Deir El-Bahri. In ancient times the temple was called Djeser-djeseru, meaning the sacred of the sacred. Take a break and watch the sunset with snacks. End your day with a delightful dinner.

day 6 - Luxor (cruise Disembarkation) – Cairo (by Flight) (b-/-/-)

Disembark the cruise after breakfast. From there you will be transferred to the Luxor Airport for your flight to Cairo. There, you will be met and escorted back to your hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure or perhaps book an optional tour below.

The Citadel, perched on the Mokattam Hills of Old Cairo, served as Egypt's center of power for nearly 700 years. Built starting in 1176 and completed by Muhammad Ali Pasha in the 19th century, it housed Mamluk sultans and Turkish governors. Inside the Citadel is the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, also known as the Alabaster Mosque, built by Muhammad Ali Pasha on the site of Mamluk palaces. Its twin minarets, the tallest in Egypt at 84 meters, dominate the skyline. The tour also includes Khan El Khalili, a historic bazaar built in 1382, which remains a vibrant hub for trade, antiques, and local culture.
