Discover history, including the Halifax Explosion and the sinking of the Titanic through an immersive visit. History comes alive as you sit in a replica Titanic deck chair or climb aboard the CSS Acadia. Learn about Halifax’s connection to the Titanic: When ship owners in New York heard the ship hit an iceberg, they thought it would travel to Halifax. In the end, 150 of the 1518 lives lost were buried in Halifax. You’ll appreciate gaining insights into history exploring exhibits from a small craft boat building to World War Convoys, the Titanic to the Halifax Explosion, events and people who have defined Nova Scotia and its relationship with the sea.

Halifax: Embark an exploration of this cosmopolitan, eclectic port city of Halifax with your Local Expert. Travel to the local cemetery where many of the Titanic victims were laid to rest before a visit to the Victorian-era inspired Halifax Public Gardens and bustling harbour front. Learn how the growth of this maritime hub can be attributed to its economic ties with the fishing industry, shipbuilding and trade, fostering a maritime culture that persists today. Your in-depth city tour will end at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic for a docent-led tour.

Lunenburg: The hand-picked UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg invites you to discover its storied streets. Experience one of the best surviving examples of a planned British Colonial settlement in North America before meeting a Local Expert for a walking tour. Your guided tour will make sites come alive with cultural wonders like superstitions, folklore and local facts. All will be woven together with unique personal stories as you stroll past its brightly painted houses.

Peggy's Cove: Visit scenic Peggy's Cove, a small rural community located on the eastern shore of St. Margarets Bay southwest of downtown Halifax. Take in the breathtaking coastal scenery, including its iconic Peggy's Cove Lighthouse perched on rugged granite rocks. Embrace this area's serene beauty, fishing village and artistic community that make it one of Nova Scotia's most favourite destinations.

Baddeck: Sail aboard the Winstar, a new double decker Catamaran, for an educational tour of the Bras d'Or Lakes. Take in unparalleled views of Baddeck and area's shoreline spotting iconic lighthouses and the historic properties along Beinn Bhreagh, including the mansion of inventor Alexander Graham. Look for a bird estuary and - surely a highlight -- bald eagles swoop down and feeding next to the boat.

The itinerary was good.👍 However some days were rushed.! I liked the local guides, they were interesting, & had a lot to say about the history of the time period. We found it very interesting! Our tour guide, was very interesting, she shared lots of information about our country in a way that was exciting & fun 🤩 to know.

AnonymousOn Sep 24, 2025

This tour hit all of the best locations and had excellent guides! The layovers were timed perfectly and the food was delicious, although expensive at times. The rooms were quite comfortable and mostly spacious. Only ran out of hot water once. All in all a great trip!

AnonymousOn Sep 24, 2025

Well paced with lots of hands-on presenters and one-of-a-kind sites. Love the seafood lunches and dinners that are included.

AnonymousOn Sep 18, 2025

Overall the itinerary is good. A couple of comments. The opening dinner was in the dining room. A separate room for the dinner and a better chance to meet others on the tour and perhaps an introduction to the tour would have been good. One hour breaks for lunch are a bit short; one and a half hours would be better and more time to find a restaurant. The winery visit could be deleted as it wasn’t much and the visit to the Bell museum shortened. The road up the Cabot Trail was mostly forest. The return side was much better along the coastline. Some accommodations, particularly Baddeck and Digby were past their best before date and the elevator failure in Digby was problematic. The final scallop dinner in Digby was a bit disappointing. Many of the stops were excellent such as the lobster dinner and demonstration along with the desert preparation and cocktails preparation in Moncton. The bus driver was really excellent. The tour director was a last minute replacement and could have benefited with more prep time and the more timely receipt of her supplies. Name tags would have been a good idea. inclusion of a visit to Peace by Chocolate was wonderful. Bus was really comfortable.

Moves quickly through beautiful terrain. Would be nice to have longer lunch stops and more included dinners or lunches. Meals were good but nothing special except for Lobster night w cooking demonstration, that was perfect

Included dinners are way too late! Pre orders are taken and still there is delays. Earlier dinners please. 4 and 5 star hotel breakfasts are very stingy compared to what they used to be. Very very disappointing way to start very long days. Have more than coffee and pastries! Do better!

Jeffrey L.On Sep 4, 2025

The trip was fabulous and it was most fabulous because of our director and our bus driver …. The scenery was spectacular and it was a very very good bus trip. I do believe that everybody enjoyed the time in Nova Scotia. I would recommend this trip for those interested in history, Travel.

A chance to explore beautiful eastern Canada. Magnificent landscapes and the warm hospitality of Canadians.

Cecilia H.On Sep 3, 2025

This tour had such a variety of different experiences - lectures on lobsters, clams, and scallops, a visit to an university that teaches Gaelic, demonstration on how to make a kilt, seeing the inside of lighthouses, going to a cooking school, the beautiful houses in the towns, “Anne of Green Gables” house, the home and museum of Alexander Graham Bell, learning about the indigenous people, going to a maritime museum.

Really liked the itinerary. Would love to see an added whale watching excursion....maybe instead of the winery visit. The winery and people were very nice, but the wine wasn't very good.

AnonymousOn Aug 7, 2025

This tour is a great opportunity to see the beauty, the culture, and the people of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Cape Breton, and Prince Edward Island. It was an experience pleasing to the senses…sight (gorgeous scenery), smell (fresh, clean air), hearing (incredible local musical talent), and taste (fantastic fresh, tasty, local seafood, fruit, and wine, and beer). An added significant plus were the locals in every place we visited….they were so friendly, so helpful, and went above and beyond in welcoming us.

AnonymousOn Aug 6, 2025

It was absolutely wonderful in every way. and did an outstanding job and represented Insight extremely well. The tours were perfect. The coach was brand new. If anything, I'd make the tour even longer and add some extras, but it was beautiful weather, nice people with us, excellent accommodations . Everyone enjoyed it. This was a wonderful experience for us. Thank you.

I loved exploring the towns and landscapes and learning about the history and culture of the area. There was a good balance of walking tours, museums, seated demonstrations and free time to explore. The times locals explained mussel, scallop or lobster fishing were very interesting. The night we learned to prepare cocktails and dessert for the lobster meal was a truly enjoyable highlight.

Combination of history and gorgeous landscape was outstanding. I never really knew about the Scottish influence and settling in Nova Scotia. Interesting learning about the First Nations People. I have a new appreciation for fisherman. Totally captivated by their stories. The Maritime Museum in Nova Scotia was superb as well as the walk in Fairview Cemetery. Thoroughly enjoyed all the stops in the small towns.
