Itinerary

Join us on this 11-day guided tour to see northern India's most important cultural and religious destinations. Starting with a sightseeing tour of Delhi, this trip will take you to Agra and Jaipur which, along with Delhi, form India's Golden Triangle.

In addition to this, the tour will also take you to Orchha and Khajuraho. While the former is famous for the ornate palaces and temples built by Bundela rulers in the 16th and 17th century, the latter is known for its numerous temples built in the Nagara architectural style and erotic sculptures.

We have also included a number of activities to make sure that you make the most of your stay in India. Enjoy a rickshaw ride in the streets of Old Delhi and experience the thrill of an elephant ride in Amer Fort in Jaipur. Visit the Taj Mahal in Agra at sunrise and watch the famous Ganges aarti during a boat ride in the Ganges.

day 1 - Delhi arrival

Our representative will meet you at the international airport in Delhi and drive you to your hotel. You are free for the rest of the day. Stay overnight in Delhi.

day 2 - Delhi Sightseeing tour

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and meet your tour guide. Visit Chandni Chowk – the oldest and biggest bazaar in Old Delhi Later, walk up to the Fatehpuri Mosque and enjoy a rickshaw ride from the mosque to Red Fort.

Meet our driver outside the fort and hop into the car. Drive past the fort (a 17th century historical monument) to reach Rajghat, where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. An eternal flame burns on one side of this memorial.

Next, we will take you to Humayun's Tomb, widely regarded as India's first garden-style tomb. Inspired by the Persian architectural style, the main highlight of this tomb are the four garden squares surrounded by passages and channel for supplying water.

Drive past Rashtrapati Bhawan (the resident of India's president). See the residence of the president of India and India Gate, an archway built in honor of the soldiers who died in World War I. Visit Qutub Minar, built by Qutab-ud-din Aibak in 1193 AD to mark the beginning of the Muslim rule in India. Stay overnight in Delhi.

day 3 - Delhi – Jaipur

Check out of your hotel in Delhi after breakfast and drive to the beautiful city of Jaipur. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Jaipur is also known as "Pink City" for its extensive use of pink sandstone. Its monuments showcase a myriad of architectural styles and its vibrant bazaars are famous for traditional handicrafts and jewellery. You are free for the rest of the day on reaching the city.

day 4 - Jaipur Sightseeing Tour

Visit the famous Amer Fort, dating back to the 16th century, after breakfast. This fort displays private halls, pavilions and private chambers of kings and members of royalty. Enjoy an elephant ride in the fort.

Next, head for City Palace, Jaipur, which consists of private and public chambers, courtyards, gateways, private chambers of kings and royalty and a lot more. Later, head to Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory that features the world’s largest sundial. Visit Hawa Mahal, a five-storey palace built in 1799 AD during Rajput rule.

This palace is popular for its intricately designed 953 windows adorned with spectacular latticework. You are free to explore the city on your own once the tour is over late in he afternoon.

day 5 - Jaipur - Agra

Drive to Agra after breakfast. En route, visit 16th century Fatehpur Sikri that boasts magnificent monuments built by Mughal rulers like Panch Mahal, Buland Darwaza and the Tomb of Salim Chishti.

Continue your journey to Agra after that. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. You are free for the rest of the day.

day 6 - Agra sightseeing tour

Agra rose to prominence as the capital of Mughal emperors from 1526 AD to 1628 AD. It still remains a popular tourist destination because of its many splendid Mughal-era monuments, most notably the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Fatehpur Sikri, all of which are Unesco World Heritage sites.

Visit the Taj Mahal, the most extravagant symbol of love, dedication and purity ever that took almost 22 years to build, early in the morning. It is an ivory-white marble monument where rest the mortal remains of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan (who built this monument) and his wife Mumtaz.

An interesting fact about this stunning edifice is that it turns pinkish in the morning, milky white in the evening and golden at night as the moonlight falls upon it. Watch the sun rise over this iconic monument before heading back to your hotel for breakfast.

Next, visit Agra Fort, which resembles the magnificent Red Fort in Delhi. See its magnificent halls and Sheesh Mahal (palace of mirrors). Later, visit the tomb of Itmad-ud-Daulah that is in the middle of a garden. Stay overnight in Agra.

day 7 - Agra – Jhansi (by train) – Orchha

Board the train to Jhansi from Agra's railway station in the morning. On arrival, our company representative will drive you to Orchha, a city dotted with artistically-beautiful palaces and temples built by Bundela rulers in the 16th and 17th century.

Get some rest in your hotel before heading out to visit the Orchha Fort complex. See Jehangir Mahal, built in the 17th century by Raja Bir Singh Deo to commemorate the visit of Emperor Jehangir to Orchha.

Explore Raj Mahal, known for its exquisite interiors and colourful murals based on religious themes. Visit the Ram Raja Temple, where Lord Rama is worshipped as a king, as well as the nearby Laxminarayan Temple, whose interiors contain some of the most exquisite wall paintings. Stay overnight in Orchha.

day 8 - Orchha – Khajuraho

Leave Orchha for Khajuraho after breakfast. Khajuraho was the capital of the Chandela kings and its temples were built in a short span of a hundred years, between 950 AD to 1050 AD. Most of them were destroyed by Muslim invaders and only 22 temples remain of the original 85.

Khajuraho temples are covered with hundreds of figures - a galaxy of gods and goddesses, beasts and serpents and a multitude of erotic sculptures. Explore the Khajuraho Group of Temples and learn more about the history and grandeur of Chandela Kings. Stay overnight at your hotel in Khajuraho.

day 9 - Khajuraho – Varanasi (by flight)

We will drive you to the airport after breakfast for your flight to Varanasi (please note that flight tickets are not included in the tour price). Check into your hotel in Varanasi on reaching there. You are free for the rest of the day.

Located on the banks of the River Ganges, Varanasi has a rich history going back by 3,000 years. This place is also one of the holiest pilgrimage sites of the Hindus.

day 10 - Varanasi sightseeing tour

Your Varanasi sightseeing tour begins with an early morning boat ride on the River Ganges. Soak up the spectacular sunrise views and, later, return to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast, head to Sarnath, where Lord Buddha gave preached Buddhism for the first time.

Later, visit the new Vishwanath Temple, also known as “Birla Mandir”. Located inside Banaras Hindu University, it is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva (God of Destruction). It took around 35 years to build this temple.

Your next destination is the Tulsi Manas Temple, built by the royal family of Banaras in 1964. It is believed to be the place where the legendary poet Tulsidas wrote the great Indian epic “Ramcharitramanas”. Close to this temple is the Durga Temple dedicated to Goddess Durga.

Witness the spectacular Ganga aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat in the evening. This evening ceremony takes place everyday and has been going on in one form or the other for thousands of years now. Stay overnight in Varanasi.

Once in a lifetime trip! Perfect in many ways

My 10-year-old daughter and I had an incredibly memorable time in June on the 5-Day "Golden Triangle" Tour of Delhi, Jaipur (Beautiful and Historic Pink City) and Agra (Taj Mahal). We booked our tours with this tour company for a private tour and requested an upgrade of all hotels. We had an amazing time and enjoyed the flexibility that a private brings (vs. group tour). We could spend a more or less time in certain attractions and landmarks. The company team assigned a representative to welcome us in each city. The tour guides were very experienced. Our driver, Mr. V. Sharma was world-class and unbelievable with his skills as we know it is not easy to drive in India. A special thanks to Ms. Ritu for checking on us daily to ensure we were having none other than an excellent trip. I had contact with all of the staff at the tour company from the initial inquiry, reservation, welcome and farewell and they are highly professional and very responsive. We enjoyed the rickshaw ride in Old Delhi and took a detour to visit the Gandhi museum. We particularly enjoyed Jaipur, the Pink City. The local music, costume, and warmth of the people were one to remember. We enjoyed every palace visit and also the elephant ride. In Agra, Taj Mahal was absolutely impressive. Also memorable was the scenic drive through the countryside after leaving Delhi and the Tech area. We enjoyed the agenda (we visited ALL major landmarks (Delhi, Jaipur and Agra). Each day included hours of sightseeing and provided flexibility to decide plans for night time (rest, outside restaurants or other attractions). There is no way we would have been able to cover all the landmarks we visited in just 5 days IF we had taken a big group tour. We recommend a Private tour with this company to get the most out of your vacation to India and need the flexibility to accommodate a number of changes. There is so much to see in India. We will always remember our trip there. What an amazing vacation!
