Continue to Luxor to marvel at ancient treasures along the Nile before relaxing on the golden shores of the Red Sea in Hurghada or El Gouna. Discover Cairo’s rich heritage, from the archaeological sites of Dahshur, Memphis, and Saqqara to the iconic Giza Pyramids.

day 1 - Egypt Cruise: Arrival and Aswan sightseeing

Your tour begins in Aswan, where you will spend the day sightseeing before retiring to your cabin on the cruise ship. Dinner is included after today’s tour.

Aswan is the smallest and most relaxed of the major tourist destinations along the Nile. Today’s highlights include the High Dam and the Temple of Philae. The High Dam, constructed after the Egyptian Revolution of 1952, was pivotal for controlling floods, providing irrigation, and generating hydroelectric power, key steps in Egypt’s industrial development. The Temple of Philae, built around 690 BC, was the last ancient temple in the classical Egyptian architectural style. A major UNESCO-led project relocated it to save it from the flooding of Lake Nasser.

Please note this tour (Day 1) operates only on Wednesdays and Fridays. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included on the cruise ship, along with access to the swimming pool, various activities, and live entertainment.

day 2 - Deluxe Cruise: Abu Simbel and Kom Ombo

Before the cruise departs Aswan, enjoy a daytrip to the temples of Abu Simbel with a guided tour. These twin temples were carved into the mountainside in the 13th century BC during the 19th dynasty under Pharaoh Ramesses II. They stand as a lasting tribute to the king and his queen Nefertari and commemorate his victory at the Battle of Kadesh. Their massive external rock reliefs have become iconic symbols of ancient Egypt. After the tour, breakfast is provided near Abu Simbel before returning to the ship, which begins sailing along the Nile after lunch.

In the evening, disembark the ship to visit the ancient temple of Kom Ombo, within walking distance of the dock. A guided tour introduces you to this unique double temple, built between 180–47 BC. Its distinctive design is perfectly symmetrical along the main axis, making it an unusual and fascinating example of Egyptian architecture.

day 3 - Edfu and Luxor Highlights

Today begins with a horse-drawn carriage ride to the ancient Temple of Edfu, where a guided tour introduces you to one of Egypt’s best-preserved temples, built between 237 and 57 BC. After the tour, return to the cruise ship and continue sailing along the Nile River.

In the late afternoon, disembark in Luxor to explore the Luxor Temple and the bustling Old Market. The day concludes back on the cruise ship with dinner and a lively belly dancing show, adding a festive touch to your evening.

day 4 - Luxor West Bank Exploration

This morning the cruise ends and your luggage is transferred to the hotel. Just in time for sunrise, enjoy a hot air balloon ride over Luxor’s archaeological treasures (children under 6 are not permitted).

Afterwards, visit the west bank for breakfast, located next to the Colossi of Memnon, where you can admire two massive stone statues. Continue to the Valley of the Kings to explore four ancient tombs of pharaohs, including the famed Tutankhamun.

Next, visit Deir el-Bahri, a complex of mortuary temples and tombs, followed by Deir el-Medina, an ancient village. Stop at the Tombs of the Nobles to see the burial sites of powerful courtiers, then visit the Ramesseum memorial temple before enjoying lunch.

In the afternoon, explore the mortuary temple of Medinet Habu and conclude at the Valley of the Queens, where you see three tombs of ancient queens, including the revered Nefertari (note: Nefertari’s tomb may be closed for restoration).

day 5 - Karnak, Dendera, and Hurghada

Before leaving Luxor, visit Karnak Temple with a guided tour. This vast site features a mix of decayed temples, chapels, pylons, and other ancient structures, reflecting centuries of Egyptian history.

Following Karnak, enjoy lunch in the city of Qena, then continue to the Dendera Temple Complex. Dendera, a sacred site from the earliest days of ancient Egypt, spans 40,000 square meters within a massive mudbrick enclosure and includes numerous chapels.

The day concludes in the coastal city of Hurghada, known for its charming marina filled with shops and restaurants.

Optional: Upon request, a detour from Qena can take you to the sacred city of Abydos, home to a royal necropolis where early pharaohs were entombed. This is not included in the standard tour due to its remote location.

day 6 - Red Sea Snorkeling and El Gouna

El Gouna is renowned for its beautiful beaches, numerous yachts, and commitment to environmentally friendly practices, making it a charming and relaxing destination.

After the tour, enjoy a relaxing cruise on a traditional felucca along the Nile. The day ends with a drive to the Zamalek neighborhood, known for its upscale nightlife and lively evening scene.

Hello good evening. We had just an absolutely marvelous time! From the moment that Hesham picked us up at the airport and throughout the full 3 days, we were simply delighted. Hesham was so great to work with us and adjust the itinerary according to our abilities and physical well being. He told us which sites were very important and which ones were closed so that we could choose. He never acted hurried, or tried to push us. And yet we saw so very much! He is very knowledgeable and we learned so much. In many ways, the trip was a historical journey into ancient Egypt, as expected. But what we did not expect was the deeply spiritual nature of what we saw. We were able to connect with the origins of our own religion through the ancient religions we saw depicted. Hesham was just great and his English is excellent so we felt that we were not losing knowledge in translation.The tour itself was extremely well laid out! Thank you for taking our considerations into account as you shaped the trip. We definitely were glad to see the dam and Aswan before we boarded for the cruise. And that was just fantastic! The attendants on the boat were so very very helpful and gracious. The room was super comfortable and we loved the large window. We also were glad for the comfortable bed. What a difference that makes. What a beautiful river. Unfortunately for us, the wind was pretty strong and a bit cold so we did not stay up on the deck very much, so it was great to have the room as an option. And we felt that the food was very good and quite a variety. It was just great!As for all the sites , it was beyond imagination. I cannot tell you how amazing it was. We had to cut back on some of them due to the stamina of my husband, but we felt that we got the most out of everything. As I said above, Hesham was great and he also was able to get us in the front of the lines, which also helped. Thank you so much for planning such an important and spectacular itinerary.And thank you for the two hotels, the one in Luxor was spectacular and they were so gracious to allow us to stay for an extra two hours in our room and then to use the facilities until we had to leave for the airport. The one in Cairo was perfect location, but just basic. All we needed for that night, though.All the drivers were excellent, careful drivers, and very friendly.All in all, we cannot say enough about the amazing time we had. Thanks you so so much for everything. I certainly recommend Charlie The Traveler!!
