A great life affirming experience
The holiday was excellent. The organisation, accommodation and cycling were all very good. We packed in a lot of Sri Lanka's top sights and there was plenty of variety of old, new, nature and religion. Ending the holiday on the beautiful south coast was perfect.
I was part of the group of 16 (great bunch of people) completing this trip in January 2025. It was good that no electric bikes were available for the trip, so we all stuck together during the cycling times with regular stops to top up with water. The days were well balanced between cycling, times on the coach and stopping for attractions (like the tea plantation or safari tours). The hotels were good, and the varied food was excellent. Ashan our tour leader was excellent and worked tirelessly at all times and often behind the scenes to ensure everything went smoothly in terms of the bikes, transport, hotels etc and ensuring we were all fed, watered and safe during all times on the trip. We were also supported by 2 drivers and 2 cyclists. A definite must is having a waterproof top as despite the weather forecast there were some periods of heavy rain, and it got cold when cycling up high at over 7,000 feet (this all added to the fun). A thoroughly enjoyable trip and I am now looking forward to the next explore journey! (long live lion beer)
A superb trip, incorporating cycling with plenty of opportunities to see various sights and the variety of landscapes around the country. All of the accommodation was excellent, comfortable and welcoming. The trip was supported by a great team who did everything possible to make it enjoyable for us all. In particular, our main guide worked tirelessly to ensure everything went well and in sharing his local knowledge, enhanced the overall experience. All in all, a great way to enjoy everything that Sri Lanka has to offer.
We where a large group of 16 people fortunately we cycled at similar abilities our guide and support team were incredibly attentive and couldn’t do enough to look after us The sightseeing days ( free time) were a welcome break from cycling and allowed some down time with opportunities to join in group trips too. It was my first Explore trip so I had no platform to compare . I expected more snacks at stops to be provided ( definitely needed) I would advise packing energy bars and possibly gels ? Water was regularly provided and topped up which was great ! Food provided as part of package was delicious with huge variation of choice I traveled alone was not an issue felt very safe. There were several other sole traveler's in group too. Lastly Srilanka is a beautiful county fabulous culture, people and landscape we travelled in January and got some wet ( warm) weather therefore make sure you pack a waterproof and wet bag , enjoy !
I had a great trip in Sri Lanka. We saw so much from Elephants, Bears, and even saw a whale on the whale watching trip. The cycling is moderate and we saw so much that we would never have seen from a vehicle. Ash and his team were helpful and knowledgeable and made the trip interesting. We always felt safe and looked after. I would thoroughly recommend this trip and have lovely memories of my time in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka is beautiful and the tour included a majority of the major attractions as well as allowing us to experience the scenery and local life by travelling on 2 wheels. There were just 2 of us on my trip, whilst we got on well, we missed the camaraderie and interaction of a larger group which is something that I look for on these holidays.
I can only express words of appreciation for the entire group that accompanied our cycling trip. Ash our guide is very knowledgeable and attentive to everyone's needs and interests. The same goes for the drivers and the other guide present on the bicycle routes. Everything went in the best way. A great trip! I brought home only brilliant memories of my days in Sri Lanka.
We had a brilliant trip . Ash and the team were so helpful and knowledgeable- they really made the holiday the success that is was - lots of cycling and lots of interesting places , spotting birds, elephants and a leopard !
