Colombo Airport Pick-Up and City Tour

Welcome to Sri Lanka, the Pearl of the Indian Ocean! You will be picked up at the airport upon arrival in Sri Lanka and transferred to your accommodation in Colombo for check-in. In the evening enjoy a city tour in Colombo (This may vary depending on your arrival time). Drive through the busy commercial areas as well as the tree-lined residential ones like stunning Cinnamon Gardens. Visit the Fort, Sea Street, the Bazaar area, where is also a Hindu Temple with elaborate stone carvings, and the Dutch Church of Wolfendhal dating back to 1749. Overnight in Colombo.

Sigiriya Rock Fortress and transfer to Habarana (B)

Wake up bright and early for breakfast and a transfer to Sigiriya, arriving in the afternoon to visit the stunning Sigiriya Rock Fortress, one of the 7 world heritage sites in Sri Lanka. You will also visit the world-renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway. These frescoes are painted in earth pigments on plaster and would have covered most of the western face of the rock, covering an area 140 meters long and 40 meters high. After the tour you will be transferred to Habarana where you will check into a unique treehouse-style accommodation overlooking open space where wild elephants pass by in the early morning.

Habarana - Hiriwadunna - Minneriya National Park - Dambulla (B)

After breakfast you’ll transfer to Hiriwadunna village, where you’ll take a ride in a traditional bullock cart swaying from side to side on an unpaved trail into the jungle. Get off to enjoy a nature walk through a scrub jungle, wade through a local stream with low hanging branches, and cross a lake in an “oruwa,” the traditional mode of water transport. Spend time with a farmer harvesting crops under his guidance and taste authentic village cuisine prepared by the farmer’s family with freshly picked produce and local herbs, cooked in clay pots over an open heart fueled by firewood. In the afternoon you will experience a safari in 8,889-hectare Minneriya National Park. This stunning natural reserve contains wetlands and dry zones where visitors can see wild elephants, various amphibians, about 160 species of birds, and more than 78 butterfly species. Overnight in Dambulla.

Cave Temple in Dambulla and transfer to Kandy (B)

After breakfast, we will make our way toward Kandy, stopping to visit the Cave Temple in Dambulla along the way. Also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla, the Cave Temple is a World Heritage Site and a truly unforgettable sight. This site has over 80 caves, some of which are used to practice deep meditation by Buddhist monks. In the evening we will explore Kandy with a city tour and visit the famous Temple of the Tooth Relic. In the evening we will watch a local Cultural Show. Overnight in Kandy.

Colombo Airport Drop-Off (B)

Today you will be transferred to Colombo Airport in time for your departing flight. We wish you safe travels for your journey onward!
