Itinerary
The Sri Lanka Experience tour is your gateway to twelve days of sun, surf, and culture, crafted for adventurous young adults. From the bustling streets of Negombo to the tranquil beaches of Mirissa, the journey covers everything from the majestic Sigiriya rock fortress to the tea plantations and spice gardens of the highlands. Learn to surf, witness wild elephants on safari in Udawalawe National Park, and travel on the world’s most scenic train route. Engage in authentic cultural exchanges with Buddhist monks and unwind in stylish accommodations throughout. With a dynamic group and a knowledgeable leader, this trip’s USP is its perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and genuine local encounters.
day 1 - Arrive and meet the group
We’ll pick you up from Colombo airport and take you to our beach front hotel in Negombo. You’ll then have plenty of time to chill out and meet everyone in your group.
day 2 - Tuk Tuk Tour & Glamping
Discover the beachside town of Negombo by tuk tuk and visit the local fish markets, before heading north to the beautiful and sacred town of Dambulla. The next two nights we will stay in a unique and beautiful ‘glamping’ resort.
day 3 - Sigiriya & Local Village
An amazing and diverse day starting with experiencing the stunning views of the famous Sigiriya Rock Fortress, as we climb the towering rock adjacent, with 360 degrees views from the top, followed by an authentic local village experience. We’ll hop on some unique, local transport and enjoy a cooking demonstration by the local village women and live and eat like the locals!
day 4 - Spice Garden & Temple of the Tooth
Today we’ll head south via a spice garden before arriving in the cultural centre of Sri Lanka – Kandy. We’ll visit the amazing Temple of the Tooth, before heading out for dinner and a few drinks.
day 5 - Tea Picking & A Scenic Train Ride to Ella
We’ll continue south through stunning rolling green tea plantations, stopping to learn how to pick and make tea; Sri Lanka’s most famous export. Before boarding the ‘world’s most scenic train’ to the town of Ella. Once we arrive we’ll head into town for dinner and a night out!
day 6 - Little Adam’s Peak
A later start this morning as we head off to hike the stunning Little Adam’s Peak and enjoy the spectacular views. This afternoon is yours to relax and explore the beautiful little town of Ella, do some shopping or unwind with a traditional massage.
day 7 - Nine Arches Bridge
This morning we’ll visit the famous Nine Arches Bridge before heading south to the amazing Udawalawe National Park.
day 8 - Sunrise Safari
A truly unforgettable day as we wake for sunrise and travel by jeep into the stunning Udawalawe National Park; one of the world’s best places to spot herds of wild free roaming elephants, crocodiles and amazing bird life. We'll then head to the beachside oasis of Hiriketiya for a chilled afternoon in paradise. Later we'll arrive ar our beach front eco retreat in gorgeous Tallala, where we'll finish the day watching the sunet whilst tucking into a BBQ.
day 9 - Beachside Yoga & Chill
The aim of today is to do as little or as much as you want. Take a deep breath and feel the peace and calm wash over you at this beautiful retreat. Yoga is an option, or reading a book by the pool, maybe you'll book an ayurdevic massage, or you could just snooze under a palm tree whilst soaking in one of the best kept secret beaches of the south.
day 10 - Learn To Surf
This morning we’ll continue along the coast and stop for a private surf lesson on the super friendly and relaxed Welligama Beach, before checking into our beachfront accom in Mirissa. We'll then visit Coconut Tree Hill for its stunning view, before later heading for a night out in the town.
day 11 - Buddhist Monastery Visit
Today we’ll have the truly special experience of visiting a Buddhist Monastery where we’ll spend time with the local monk students and learn about their way of life. Later tonight we’ll head out for our farewell meal on the beach
day 12 - Check Out & Onward Travel
Your epic adventure comes to an end today. Your group leader will help organise your onward travel. For those flying out today, we'll have a bus to take you to Negombo.

Sri Lanka Experience is a 10/10 recommendation from me if you’re thinking of visiting this amazing country! Intro made this whole process clear and simple from the start. The support before, during and after was great. The accommodation during the 12 days was gorgeous with a good mix of types including two nights in an eco retreat on the beach! Our group leader Matt was the best, he was so accommodating to everyone’s individual needs as well as our group. He was so welcoming from day dot and helped make our trip fun and easy. He had a wealth of knowledge about Sri Lanka (but also other countries) and no question was ever too much trouble. He ensured to make time for everybody and was always on top form even after 12 days of non stop leading and guiding! I really thought this was excellent value for money and would encourage anybody thinking of doing it to book, you wont regret seeing this incredibly beautiful country with Intro.

I had the best time in Sri Lanka, missing it already! Really happy to have had the opportunity to experience such a wide range of what the country has to offer. Sri Lanka is such a beautiful country, and travelling with Intro was really worth it. It also helped that our group had the best possible group leader, Matt, who organized everything very well, and made sure that everyone in the group was having a great time! It was very evident that he’s genuinely interested and has a lot of knowledge about Sri Lanka and the culture. (Also shoutout to Sarath and JJ for getting us safely around!)

Just returned from 12 Day Sri Lanka Experience trip. It was AMAZING! I haven;t travelled for a long time and was quite anxious but Matt, the group leader, was welcoming and immediately put me at ease. The itinerary was carefully planned and showcased Sri Lanka;s places and people ... so beautiful, happy and friendly. It was great that local guides and drivers were employed, allowing opportunities to ask lots of questions to locals. Loved the activities, including: hiking, safari, swimming, surfing, cooking, eating and drinking delicious cocktails! ... and dancing! Matt was fantastic, helping the group to gel ( 21 to 61 year olds, no mean feat) and was very knowledgeable about Sri Lankan history, culture and environment. Safely carrying baby turtles to the sea and beach cleaning were highlights, as well as Small Change activities. Matt helped everything to run smoothly and everyone to feel safe. I;m already looking at going on an Intro travel adventure again. Can;t wait!

I just finished the Sri Lanka Experience tour and it exceeded all of my expectations! It felt like I was travelling with my best friends, doing the most amazing activities, in the most spectacular country! Every day seemed to be even better than the last and I felt so incredibly grateful to be part of the tour. I really loved how intro gave back to the local communities and hired local tour guides with excellent knowledge of the culture and history. I also appreciated how all of the transport and activities were included in the initial cost of the tour. Our tour leader Matt always went above and beyond to make sure each individual felt safe, supported, and got the most out of their travels. His optimism, positive energy, incredible knowledge/experience, and relationship with the locals made this trip stress-free and so enjoyable. For my first time travelling with a group, this tour has definitely set the bar high! I can’t wait to do another one soon.
