So much to see and experiences in 13 days… Amazing weather throughout the tour helped us to enjoy more. Great people and tour leader, Justin. He was the star., very organise, friendly, patient and care to everyone. Ben, our driver was a champion.. his driving skill was unquestionable. We had wonderful time. Thank you.
While it was a whirlwind, we were able to see and experience sites we most likely wouldn't have in such a short period of time. Our bus driver and tour guide were amazingly accommodating and knowledgeable. Loved it!
Very informative fast paced tour
We saw so much of the UK and Ireland! This trip provided a great introduction to these areas!
Amazing experiences, breathtaking sights, lovely people. We will be back!
The tour was fast paced with long days but you couldn't do it any other way. We got to see so many towns, historic sites and places of interest. Our tour guide Brandon plus driver Craig were brilliant. Brando's history knowledge made the trip super enjoyable. Would highly recommend this tour
We chose the Expat tour over all others because it had just about everything we were looking for, a sample of all five countries in the UK with literally all the ""hotspots"" we wanted to hit, as our belief is to try and ""do it all"" when you go somewhere, there's too many other places t visit to go back to the same place twice! We really wanted to see Stonehenge, Shakespeare's birthplace, have a Beatles experience in Liverpool, the ""town with the longest name"" in Wales, the Guinness Storehouse, Blarney Castle, Ring of Kerry, Cliffs of Moher, Ttianic Belfast, Loch Ness, have Whiskey Tastings & Haggis, and see all over Ireland and Scotland. It didn't disappoint, and in fact exceeded expectations as the one tour we were missing on our bucket list, the Wallace Monument in Scotland, wasn't on the initial itinerary, but wound up being a last-minute replacement over Falkirk...we were so glad that change was made as this visit certainly completed our experience! Of course to see all of these things in 13 days, you only get a glimpse of everything, but most of the trip had ample time to experience it all (you couldn't walk the full length of the Cliffs of Moher, but could still get a fair distance and take in the views...you couldn't read everything at the museums, but could get through the whole thing and learn something new). A few places were a little tight on time, and trying to eat and see the sights was a challenge, but overall, we were satisfied with the timings, aside from Bath & Glasgow. The only things that maybe weren't up to par were the Clydeside Distillery in Scotland and Spirit of Scotland show. Highlights were the Ring of Kerry, Wallace Monument, Liverpool, Loch Ness & Blarney Castle. Pleasant surprises were Glasgow & Edinburgh, Wales, Derry & Belfast, & Alnwick Castle, all lower on our list, but absolutely breathtaking and full of history. It was a whirlwind, but well worth it, hitting everything we wanted to see and more!
My husband and i have just returned home to Australia after completing Best of UK and Ireland 13 day tour. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and find it difficult to criticize any part of our experience. Our tour guide Peter was amazing! His knowledge was outstanding. He was professional, friendly and approachable at all times. He is great at what he does and is a huge asset to the Expat Explore team in our opinion. Credit must go to our coach captain, Mintie also, who delivered us safely to each destination whilst enduring some challenging situations but always managed to carry a smile and a joke. Overall our experience was amazing and we are looking at booking future tours with Expat Explore.
We completed the 13 days - Best of UK and Ireland tour. Branden Gee was our tour guide and he was knowledgeable on the areas we explored. It was fast paced, meaning lots of time on the coach and lots of walking, which we were aware of, since we have done tours with Expat before. Our time in locations were quite limited. It was unfortunate when we arrived in locations where we had time to explore, however shops were closed. Hotel accommodations were okay to great, depending on where we were staying. Included dinners were good, as diet restrictions were adhered to and that was appreciated. Overall it was a good experience and as always it went way too fast.
That was fun and very educational. Full of adventure and more than we expected. Peter our tour leader, was exceptional and full of knowledge. Thank you expat and see you to our next tour.
Being our first bus tour I wasn't sure what to expect and this bus tour is incredible! We travelled 4,212 kms through 4 countries and learned so much of the folklore and history of each place! People ask me what one thing stands out and I can't answer. Everything stood out, Stonehenge, Cliffs of Moher, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Belfast, Dublin...I can go on and on! This trip is beautiful, fun and gave so many wonderful life moments and new friends.
We really enjoyed this amazing trip. The itinerary was awesome, thanks Expat. Our tour leader, Peter, and co-tour leader, Lee, were great. Peter was very organized and friendly from day 1 until the end. He was full of knowledge, very good character with smile, and patience. He looked after everybody in the group. For example, he always walked from the front to the back of the coach asking if anyone had questions and/or needed help. He is one of the best tour leaders that we experienced on our trips (7 times with Expat). Thanks to Lee for taking care of the group. He was also friendly and full of knowledge. He made sure the group is safe and no one got lost during the walking tours. Lastly thanks to our excellent driver, Paul, for the safe and smooth coach ride. He was also funny.
The amount of sights and adventures, the history along the way and knowledge of the tour leader combined for an awesome tour. Very friendly group and nothing was a problem for the staff, very professional.
Be prepared for some walking
We had Peter as our tour leader and Paul as our driver on our tour, plus Lee shadowing as a new addition to Expats tour leaders, and I could not have imagined our tour being with anyone better! Peter is extremely well organized, he's also very outgoing and positive which kept all 46 of us on tour that way too, and of course he was very knowledgeable in the history of all the places that we stopped in, including putting out recommendations for great places to eat and shop because what else do you do on vacation?! Paul's driving is impeccable! There were some realllllly tight turns that the coach has to make and Paul got through them without a sweat! We would have never made it on time to all of the places that were planned for us to have our adventure in if it weren't for Paul and his wonderful driving! The overall experience of being in England, Ireland, and Scotland was incredible and I would love to return! The only thing I would have loved to see a little more of was Scotland!
I loved the experience. The tour covered all the well known tourist places, plus some surprises as well. Like the Jaunting Buggy Ride and the Cambridge Canal Punt. I felt safe and welcomed by the tour guide and made firm friends.
It was lightning fast. Check-in, dinner, sleep, up at the crack of dawn & off again. I'm exhausted
This tour was everything we wanted in the time we wanted. United Kingdom and Ireland in 13 days was brisk, but didn't feel we missed anything. Our tour guide, Aileen, was very knowledgeable about all of the sites and history. Ashley was our bus driver. He was an excellent driver and did an impressive job of loading luggage. All the people on the tour with us were kind, courteous, and punctual. We were very pleased with this tour.
We absolutely Loved Alaine and Ashley!!! What a wonderful team who really went above and beyond to make the trip even better!
Great little tour. Ashley and Aileen were amazing. They were so good at what they do. The whole tour ran smoothly due to their guidance and information and excellent driving. Visited so many amazing places.
We loved the tour and the guide Aileen was amazing. The bus driver Ashley was great and always made us feel safe.
This was a once in a lifetime experience made even better by the kind people I met along the way. Our tour leader Justin put the bar at the highest notch, I don't think any tour leader could be better.
What an amazing trip this was! Our tour guide, Justin, was fun and shared so much knowledge and history about all the places we visited over the two weeks. There is no way we could have seen so much and done so much if we were in our own. We are already looking forward to a future trip!
We had a fantastic tour. This tour has so many wonderful stops and places to visit. The optional excursions were great and worth the extra money. Our tour leader Justin was great. He was very knowledgeable of the history for every stop on the tour and helped make the tour more fun and enjoyable. We would highly recommend this tour and are starting to look for our next adventure with expat
Aaron our tour leader was great and experienced so he was able to give us many tips! Super friendly and made our experience great!
I couldn't have asked for a better tour guide and bus driver than Luke and Craig. Always upbeat and informative, with the skill of a master storyteller, Luke brought each location, myth and legend to life. And he managed to keep a large group of people focused, happy and on time. Craig went above and beyond excellent driving skills. His patience, humor and knowledge of each area made us feel safe and valued. These two gents work well as a team! Thank you Luke and Craig!
Luke is a fountain of great information but it comes with a modesty and interest in how everyone is doing. He was on top of all situations and improvised well when situations changed. Craig was an amazing driver that gave you confidence he not only could handle the driving but knew his way around in all countries. He was helpful and interactive. They are a great team together and I think this made the trip better. For a first time user of Expat I thought it was great. Wee organized and professional.
Enjoyed. Would like more time in certain spots.
Best of UK and Ireland tour was amazing. The tour was very fast paced but itinerary was well organized and our tour guide Luke was incredible. He was very knowledgeable, connected well to the group and consistently went above and beyond to ensure that all had the best time! Our driver Craig was highly skilled, patient and amazing. The scenery was breathtaking and the included experiences were enjoyable. I did not participate in all of the optional excursions but found those that I joined to be a good value and great fun.
Thoroughly enjoyed the your. A wonderful experience . Our tour leader Luke and bus driver Craig were amazing and work so well together and go out of their way to make sure everything is right. Customer service plus!!!!
This was my first coach tour and I have to say it was absolutely amazing. Luke our tour director went the extra mile in every way to make this experience memorable for us. His knowledge and the information shared along the way is so informative and nothing was too much trouble for him to sort out. Our driver Craig was such a skilled and courteous driver making our journey pleasant and safe all round. His manner towards the passengers was a cut above the rest. Accommodation was adequate but I would suggest if hotels do not have air conditioning they provide fans in the rooms at a very minimum
First and foremost a big shout out to our tour leader # Luke Watson and his handler Craig, who also drove the bus expertly. Saw lots of sights, climbed lots of stairs, learned lots of historical facts and interesting back stories, made lots of new friends, climbed lots if stairs, had great food and lots of drinks, explored Castles, explored cities, and claimed lots of stairs. Luke and Craig's interaction was fun, and both fully engaged the group. While the tour was fast paced, the explore time and down time was enough to wet our appetite for more touring down the line. Expat Explore did a wonderful job putting Luke and Craig with a special group of adventure seeking travelers. Cheers!
Wonderful tour made even better by the most informative and witty tour leader Luke and the great driving of Craig.
Both tour guide & driver did an amazing job. Without them, I don't know how the trip could've been? Their efforts in making everyone involved etc. Also we made lots of new friends too. Just helped with the experience so much.
Luke is a passionate historian He is very well organised, prepared and researched He is a great communicator He is bright cheerful positive every day all day And he is easy to get along with Craig is a respectful safe driver Ĥe was always happy to help and always offered helpful tips He never complained about our baggage getting bigger & heavier to load He was easy going, and nothing was too much trouble He is a good sport He and Luke are a great fun team
If like us you want to see major tourist attractions and cities on the one holiday, a tour is the best way to do it. We could never have achieved this by ourselves unless we had at least 6 weeks and could afford a hire car for that long!! And lots of fun with fellow travellers
It's a full on tour always on the go, but the tour guide and driver make it a fun experience. You really get to see the key sights of the UK and Ireland.
Definately recommend this tour it was wonderful
A very hectic pace but enjoyed it We met Some great people on the coach sharing our experience Our tour guide was very knowledgeable with a good sense of humour
Excellent tour. Our guide and our bus driver were a terrific team who made sure our tour was seamless. Loved all facets of this tour.
An amazing tour experience, Luke is absolutely the best tour guide we have ever had on our travels. He goes above and beyond and nothing is ever to much trouble.
As always Expat did not disappoint it was a fantastic tour. Luke was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. Craig our driver was great too and did a fantastic job of getting off to our destinations promptly and safely. Luke and Craig make a great team.
Be prepared for a busy schedule filled with fantastic experiences.
I didn't know what to expect, all I can say is was fantastic. Luke & Craig were exceptional they couldn't do enough for us, nothing was a problem. Luke is the best tour leader we've ever had. His knowledge about history & places were amazing. Craig's driving was exceptional & his thoughtfulness was over & above. They work SOOOOOOOO WELL together. Thank you XPat for placing them as our tour leader & driver.
This was an excellent tour. We were led by a great tour leader who was very knowledgeable and organized. Everyday there were new experiences and sights. We took in all optional excursions and got the most out of the trip as possible. Fortunately, the weather was really pleasant for most of our 13 days. My wife and I both felt that traveling with Expat Explore was a great choice. It was way more than our expectations! The bus was very comfortable and the driver was amazing at his skills. We are already booked for another trip with Expat Explore and are looking forward to the EU trip in August. :)
The Best of the UK & Ireland was an incredible trip! Branden and Ashley were an amazing tour guide/driver team. Their positivity and passion for exploring shined through as they led us through the UK and Ireland, showing us some of the most beautiful sites. Branden was full of knowledge and was able to provide invaluable information everywhere we went. I loved the group we traveled with and wish we could have continued on further. I highly recommend this tour.
Loved my trip with Expat. I had an amazing time. Special thank you to the tour leader Branden who did a fantastic job caring for all of us and with all his history information. The trip was not perfect, the bus broke down on the day touring the highlands, but we made the most of it in the rest area waiting for a mechanic. I strongly recommend this tour even though nothing is perfect all the time.
This was really an exceptional vacation and I highly recommend it. Our tour leader Brandon was such a delightful personality and he really knew each area. He gave us additional history and information which was very interesting. Our driver Ashley was an incredible driver. I felt very safe in his hands. The tour itself was jam packed and definitely a marathon but exactly what I wanted. The accomodations were all good except the Ibis hotels. They were dirty and the Liverpool Ibis breakfast was disgusting. Overall, it was really great and we had a wonderful group. It was good to see that the single travelers were well taken care of as I might do that in the future.
This was our first experience on a guided tour and it was wonderful. There was a lot of walking and steps involved, but the experience was worth it. The tour included many different cities and lots of historical sites. The Cliffs of Moher and the Scottish Highlands were breathtaking. Our tour guide Luke made everything seamless and entertaining. His knowledge of every place we visited was unbelievable. He made the time in between stops fly by. Our driver Craig was very courteous and helpful as well. I look forward to taking another Expat tour again in the future!
Everyday life has its up an downs but when sharing the same experience with 40 + new friends it somehow makes the worries disappear. Our driver and tour guide were perfect conductors that had us eager to get to the next adventure.
Luke our guide and Craig our bus driver were amazing and provided the best experience
Satisfied I saw enough in each destination. My castle obsession satisfied. Luke the best tour leader I've ever experienced & Craig a lovely guy & superb driver. Thoroughly recommend Expat
Enthralling view of UK with experienced director and driver ........superb coach and accommodation,....great meals....great company
Honestly this tour could have lasted two more weeks and I still would have wanted it to continue! Luke's enthusiasm, energy and sense of humour combined with his vast knowledge really makes the tour an unforgettable experience! And let's not forget our expert driver Craig. What a great team they are!!!
A whirlwind of amazing experiences, enjoyable interactions and interesting and informative visits
Not as rushed as previous expat tours. Had heaps of free time
Tour was excellent. Original tour leader became ill 2 days before tour was to leave and Shabby had to get up to speed and fill in, she was magnificent. Her attention to detail proving pod casts and music etc., to explain places or fill in voids was extremely helpful and thoughtful. Saw wonderful sights but I would call this a 'taster' tour as we covered many places in a short time, but sights, sounds and wonderful places were enhanced by Shabby and our driver Ashley's attention to detail, care and friendliness.
Well planned tour. Thoughtful down to the small details Good song list. Well planned and thought out. Parallels the tour well. Excellent trip for the views and landscapes of each country. Stops and site seeing are well timed in order to see enough and not be bored, still kept entertained and feel that you are seeing/moving enough. Tour guide keeps the bus entertained with a positive upbeat attitude. Repore between driver and tour guide is great. She spent time with the complainers and tending to their 5 star wants and still kept a positive attitude to everyone. She never broke her cool and kept professional.
Exactly what we signed up for! There was so much in this tour and we were on the go nonstop. Well worth it in our opinion! Loved this trip, the leader, driver, and company plans and policies. You delivered just what you promised. Thank you! I would suggest that anyone looking into your company, make sure to read every part of your website (each section and tab) because you all covered it all and were spot on! I also appreciated the seat rotation, overall organization and positive attitudes. What an absolutely fabulous trip of a lifetime!
Every day was filled with interesting places to visit
We had the best tour leader-Karina. Very prepared, well informed, doesn't even look at notes. She knows the history of the place, very positive. Chris our driver was really good! Very level headed, and pays attention to the road. We had a bird fly over and smacked dead on the window and he didn't stop and that was really good as we were in the middle of the highway going fast, if it was some other driver that diversion would've costed us our lives. I am very grateful that we had Karina and Chris with us. And I love the itinerary! Don't change it. We like that we get to see as much of the place! -shereen and jeanielyn
All the tours were amazing.
We had no idea how our first tour experience would unfold, however were excited at the prospect of visiting and learning about the various places and icons described on Expat's program. I had checked a few of the proposed extra activities online and all seemed really good as well. We have two teenagers and were just not sure if they would meet anyone else their own age and enjoy the experience as much. This option covered the real challenge of having to drive ourselves, to have a knowledgeable guide onboard, that otherwise would have not been achieved in a diligent and timely manner. Our tour leader Luke and the driver, Gary, were always friendly and helpful. Luke was also a really fun guy with a witty sense of humour. They walked that extra mile in regards to the effort of making us feel comfortable and integrated as a group. The other members of our tour were fantastic. We had a great time and it was a real pleasure getting to know them. Some would gladly spend time with our girls and we did appreciate that. We loved the places we've visited and the activities, still not able to agree on a common favourite. Many thanks Luke, Gary and the team.
The Aarocar hotel in Highlands Scotland needs to be changed or needs to be updated. That hotel has no control over on hot temperature of the shower. The knob is not working. And we transferred to another room to shower and same issue is noted. Even the manager doesn't know how to do it- it's dangerous for clients to be using uncontrolled heat beyond one can tolerate - one can get burned too. That hotel is too old. Personnel doesn't check the quality of service each room create for customers every day. Manger at night ( male ) was not helpful. I informed Luke about this the next day . Kindly update the hotel or change it please. This is just our issue but I heard from Co travelers that they also have different issue with the hotel too.
It was awesome, we covered so much ground Everything was excellent. This was our third tour with expat. The one big difference I did notice was that many of the extra excursions were during our regular travel days. Did not have this on the other tours However overall it was great.
Richard our tour leader was amazing.Always accommodating and funny. Easy to talk too and always approachable. The places we visited are beautiful as any expat tour that I have done before. As always , Expat tour has delivered an exceptional tour that I will cherished and be part of those memorable trips
I bought this tour because it was a reasonable price and it included all of the UK and Ireland. I think that Expat tries to cram too many things into the 13 days. Most nights we did not arrive at the hotel until 10 pm, having been on the bus since 7:45 am. We needed to be ready to come down for breakfast at 7 the next morning so there was no time to relax at the end of the day. I think it would have been much more enjoyable if we had arrived at the hotels around 6 pm. Breakfast was great in every hotel. Rooms were clean, of varying sizes and styles. But no elevators in some, exhausting trying to get to your room late at night. We got to see a lot of countryside which was beautiful and lot of very interesting stops at places, some of which I would never have known about, which is another reason a coach tour was something I wanted to try. Some of the places we could have used less time at, some places could have used more time, but oh well. Worst day- the day we took the ferry to Scotland...I realize they had to use a different ferry than they regularly use, which made our timings off. But I would have rather have made our way to the hotel and not done the whisky distillery. I heard many other people of the same opinion. Someone mentioned that it would have been nice to take a vote to see who wanted to go to that tour. First, it took a long time to get to the distillery, then the one and a half hour tour, then the ride back out made us past 10 pm getting to the hotel and we hadn't even had dinner, at which I had a bad ordeal. Most of the included dinners were very nice. I did not enjoy the Italian restaurant in Edinburgh. Squeezing in through the overly crowded restaurant, then downstairs to another crowded room to sit in a very tight little spot to eat Italian was not much fun, especially when you are worn out before you even get there. I enjoyed the optional music+dinner evenings in Dublin and second night in Edinburgh, although the price is very high.
The tour had a very good price. There were several addons that were available nearly every day. Before the trip I contacted expat to ask if I could prepay for any addon tours. I was informed Expat did not run the tours so I could not pay. When the tour started we had to pay the Expat tour leader in cash to be able to take part in the addon anyway. I do not see why people on the tour were subjected to carring cash of the tour curency for each Country arround with them if he collected it and paid forthem as the Expat Rep. If you did not take part you were left on the bus or sitting in a hotel far from the area other personal options were availabl you could do on your own.. Most Hotels had good breakfast but either lacked or had elevators that did not work or were in use by hotel porters early in the morning when the bus had to be loaded at 7:45am. Often the hotel was not checkedin until 10 pm or later so it was strugle to get your bags to the room collasp into bed, shower at 6 am, breakfast at 7 and bags to the bus at 7:45. On the days on your own, if you did not pay the price in cash for the add ons you were not able to utilize the the tour bus to travel into town and be dropped off even though seats were obviously empty. Now that I know why the price seemed so good, I will in the future pay the higher price with another Tour Company who charge the price up front as part of the package. Expat gets a failing grade by me.
Amazing sightseeing and a fabulous way to see so much in a relatively short period of time. You can't go wrong with the places visited. The amount of time in most places visited were ample enough to explore and get a really good feel for it. The hotels were very disappointing. 2-3 star at best. They were usually located 30-40 min outside of any major centre which left nothing to do in the evenings and if you opted out of an optional excursion you were on your own for transportation into a major centre which in some instances proved costly. Most hotels did not have lifts/elevators or staff to help carry bags. Older people on the tour found it very challenging to lift heavy bags up flights of stairs. The pace was fast and there was a great deal of walking so it is not for the faint of heart. On a few occasions we arrived after 8:30 PM to our hotel so they were also long days, people were very tired. I would be very selective on who I recommended this tour to. Certainly to those who are fit and have a good amount of stamina and don't care about the standard of accommodations (at least the bathrooms were clean in every establishment, but not really much else to be positive about). But I would not suggest this tour for someone over 70, or to someone who likes to stay in 4-5 star hotels. The places visited were truly beautiful and we certainly got an historical education that was delightfully entertaining. I warmed up to the tour guide toward the end but initially he was rather off-putting, unapproachable, disorganized and appeared to rush through information. As the tour went on he softened and became more humorous and helpful and actually had some redeeming qualities. But for some we were traveling with, those first impressions of our tour guide did not change.
