Great well thought out tour. Excellent guide who stayed with us the whole time and met the needs of the group. Local guides also excellent. Really had a feel for the real Morocco by the end of the tour. Drives also excellent and felt safe the whole time
This is an opportunity to discover Morocco from the imperial cities to the remote villages. Camel riding in the Sahara desert. Souks and medinas presenting the most amazing assault on every sense! Local guides take pride in showing off their palace or medinas and swimming pools offer opportunities to cool down at the end of busy days. Breakfasts are plentiful and the sights to be seen as you traverse this amazing country are truly wonderful.
Overall the trip was good. I am glad I went, however there was some highs and some lows. First the highs. The trip is long so we got to see a lot, definitely went to places we wouldn't have otherwise gotten to if we did this on our own or outside of a tour group. Our trip leader Boubkar was great and handled any challenges that came up beautifully. You can tell he really loves his country and is very knowledgeable about everything. My favorite part of the trip was time we spent in Essaouira as it was a cute coastal town and just had a nice laid back feel to it. I also really enjoyed our time in Rabat (wish we spent more time there) and exploring the medina in Fes was truly an experience. For the lows, the accommodations were inconsistent and at times, terrible. I truly understand that expectations in other countries can vary and you have to be willing to deal with some differences, however, some of the hotels are straight up terrible. Almost every hotel we stayed in didn't have shower curtains, so after you take a shower that may or may not have hot water or much water pressure, there is water all over your bathroom floor. The hotel we stayed at in Erfoud was a complete dive with dirty floors and a bed that was like sleeping on a slap of concrete. I also found what I believe to be bed bugs in the room I was put in, which of course I was then moved to another room. At this hotel, they had to switch the rooms for 3 of us due to the state of the rooms they put us in. Additionally, the hotel in Essaouira didn't have A/C at all in any of the rooms. This required you to seep with the sliding door wide open so you can get some air into the room, not exactly a safe feeling. Some of the hotels were nice, especially the one in Rabat and in Marrakesh, but it truly felt like a game of Russian roulette every time you pulled up to a new hotel. I honestly feel like Explore needs to be much more upfront about the quality of rooms on this trip. If the hotels were more consistent, and I knew every night I was going to sleep on a comfortable bed, have a decent shower, and A/C it would have made a completely different experience for the rest of the trip. Again, overall the trip was good and you will get to see and experience a lot. However, just be ready for the length of the trip and the hotel challenges.
The tour was wonderful, with a good mix of seeing, doing with some walking to see sites. The range of activities was great, interesting as many are not common elsewhere. The accommodation was suitable, as the range is not vast in the country areas. Overall I'd happily recommend this tour to anyone, and would be happy to do it all again.
Thoroughly enjoyed my recent wide ranging tour of Morocco thanks in no small part to our super guide Ibrahim and our excellent driver Mustafa who accompanied us over 2,800 klms of this lovely country to cities ancient and modern ,to the Atlas mountains, the Sahara desert and tiny villages. The cuisine was was superb and the people so friendly. Can't praise this trip enough.
Very exciting comprehensive introduction to Morrocco covering all aspects of it's history, culture landscape and customs. From the palaces to the souks and medinas and mosques and the mountains there was never a dull moment. Our guide, Ibrahim, excelled in his excellent care for everyone. He was full of knowledge and always sensitive to each individual's needs. He could never do enough! We were lucky to have a great group of people on our trip.
Great trip. Good itinerary. Covered a lot of ground. Always felt safe and comfortable in the coach. Mustafa the driver was careful on the road, and very helpful with luggage loading and unloading. The tour leader, Ibrahim, was excellent and very informative about the history of his country and what to expect about the sights we would see. Highly recommend this trip.
Accomodation variable from OK to very good. Guide and driver excellent
Mustard’s was possibly the best tour guide I have had. Excellent holiday in every way
This was a full on trip as expected. Lovely group which enhanced the experience. Highlights for me were Fes, Essaouira, dinner with Berber Family, Desert Camp & camel experience. Food was interesting, alot of Tagines and bread! Hotels varied some tired and in need of alot of TLC with others better or traditional and authentic. Itinerary was packed, some days there was more driving than others with necessary stops for breaks. Morocco is a fascinating country with so much to see. This trip certainly leaves you wanting to see more of it.
Our explore leader was very well informed and really went far out of his way to help us when we needed it. Rabia is a good hearted and humble guy who tolerated all our chattiness and answered all our questions well. All the individual tour guides in different cities were truly excellent, well informed and hospitable. Our bus driver Ahraf was also quick to help us in every way he could and always had a smile on his face, navigating tight turns and long journeys so well we regularly applauded him for his good work. The itinerary was ideal, yes some days in the desert and mountains involved long journeys and dusty towns (with “four star” hotels occasionally not quite living up to that standard) but that is to be expected when you go further into the country and away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s part of the charm and variety the tour provided, I genuinely believe this tour couldn’t have offered a more authentic and diverse experience of Morocco, from Essaouira’s artsy coastal scene to the incredible views from the high atlas mountain hikes to film studios and of course the incredible 8th century Fez medina. This tour ticked all my boxes for culture, nature, architecture, history and exploration. I left morocco feeling like i’d seen all I had wanted to see, in fact the last day in marrakesh almost felt superfluous as we’d already seen more authentic and less touristy things throughout the country. All in all I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in going to Morocco, I think it is the best tour of the country on offer.
Our tour leader Mohamed was fantastic. He watched out for us, shared stories of the local culture and people and he made the trip the interesting success that it was.
