    Initially before booking the trip I thought it was extremely overpriced. However(our tour guide) was fantastic. He made the trip worth every penny and was extremely organised and knowledgeable. The locations were great, and the activities were really cool. was a fantastic character, and became a friend by ensuring we all had fun. He looked after and catered for everyone’s needs and requirements, promoting safety above all else, and more than once went the extra mile to ensure we all had a great time (joining myself at CrossFit and his traditional dance moves were personal highlights). I hope he gets the recognition he deserves, as I would love to book a similar trip with Contiki in future because of this great experience. I would also recommend that you include huacachina in future - I went there on my own and it was one of the coolest experiences - maybe this could be added as an extra at the beginning of the trip.

    As our guide would say "The point is this, my friends"... and the day begins. This was one of the best experience I have had. Our guide - Gary - made sure we were on schedule on the trek. He explained to us all the pros and cons and how to get the most out of the Inca Trail. The porters were great. The chef - Julio - made the best camp meals for vegetarians. The scenery is breathtaking. Yes it may seem long and a lot of walking but its worth it. The team made the whole journey worthwhile - from booking to the end.     My girlfriend and I just came back from our amazing 4 weeks in Peru. We went from amazement to wonder across many different landscape and cultures. And without any doubt, our trek to Machu Picchu with Carlos and his team was the highest point (both literally and figuratively). The organization was impeccable. We were provided with everything we needed, assisted by the team with every questions, both prior and during the trip. The sleeping locations, and the activities proposed, were all unique and made you feel closer to the wonderful and various scenery all along the trek. Helping with this organization was our two horsemen, Gilbert and Jos, that did an impressive job, bringing our stuff when and where we needed them. 5 days of trekking is hard, and a good meal at the end of the day helps a lot in recovering. The food prepared by our world-class chefs, Gido and Elvis, was simply among the best dishes we had, in terms of taste, variety, colors and quantities. This trek brings you through sacred Apus (mountains), in the wilderness of the jungle and all its secrets to end up in this magic place that is Machu Picchu. And all covered with Quechuas culture, mythology and science. We experienced it fully thanks to our amazing guide Carlos the mountain king. He created a very familiar atmosphere between everybody from the very first moment, and rewarded us with all his knowledge of the fauna, flora, local cultures and history that brought a whole new level to our experience. This trek is an amazing experience and I would recommend it 100%. It is strenuous, with very long walking days, but the treasures and natural beauty that you find along the way are worth every drop of sweat. SULPAYKI WAIKIS to all team for this amazing adventure.

    It’s been my dream to visit the Amazon rainforest since I was 10 years old, and this tour truly didn’t disappoint! From the friendliest staff & guides who all went above and beyond to please me, to the magnificent nature and wildlife all around, it was everything I hoped it would be, and more! Accommodation: Clean and comfortable en-suite rooms, with mosquito nets so you don’t have to bring your own. It’s surrounded by beautiful nature so provides the ideal Amazonian experience (eg don’t expect a 5 star hotel on a trip like this!) The communal area is lovely, with hammocks perfect for relaxing or reading a book. There are plenty of beautiful trails around the lodge to walk around in your free time too. Activities: The activities were SO much fun! I saw so many different types of animals and insects, and the guides were so knowledgeable and passionate which was contagious! I learnt so much and feel much more connected to nature after my trip. The sun set tower, zip line and adventure course are a bit sketchy, and quite basic but do the job and if you like adrenaline and aren’t a health & safety freak, you’ll love it (like me!). The parrot clay lick is from afar so you don’t get to see the parrots up close (you need binoculars) and it’s not always that they lick the clay, but you’ll for sure see 100’s flying round - just to manage expectations. All the activities provided a unique view and experience of the Amazon - I highly recommend this itinerary. We didn’t have a campfire sadly, and I was hoping for more Amazon legends stories told. You’ll need to be flexible with the itinerary as it’s best to capitalise on when the weather is good for the activities - eg we finished all our activities on day 3, so day 4 i just chilled on the hammocks and went for a walk on my own (went on the canopy & sunset tower again as they were such peaceful areas) which I enjoyed after the busy few days! Food: The food was always plenty and definitely made with love ❤️ Communication: It was super easy to contact Lucho via whatsapp! He responds quickly, and makes sure that the schedule all runs on time. I highly recommend this experience!
