Excellent experience with our guide and porters. They were able to accommodate quick changes in our plans when some of our members showed symptoms of AMS. They are also some of the fittest people I have ever met and are kind and entertaining at the same time. It was a pleasure to learn about their culture. If you ever get the opportunity, see if you can learn and play Baghchal.

The trek was excellent although tough in the short timescale but I wanted the challenge. For others make sure youre happy with the non acclimatisation days, I had the full information and I chose to take the shorter trek. Off season in January although cold was a great time to trek as far less people on the trail as I hear spring time is just to hectic. Even in the winter you get warm during the daytime treking.

Gokyo Lakes Trek - October 2027
Be part of this 12-day, guided trek and get the chance to visit the Gokyo Lakes, glistening bodies water high up in the Himalayas that are fed by the surrounding glaciers. Your journey starts in Kathmandu with a short flight to the airstrip in Lukla.
Hit the trail for Namche Bazaar and continue your journey to the Gokyo Valley via Dole and Machhermo to reach the Gokyo Lakes. Explore the glistening bodies of water and enjoy stunning views of the Himalayas from Gokyo Ri before heading back to Lungden via the Renjo La Pass. Then continue your downhill journey via Thame and Namche to reach Lukla, from where you will catch your flight home.
The Gokyo Valley is home to six glacial lakes that hold special significance to both Hindus and Buddhists. It is also known for Gokyo Ri (5,357m), which offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Although not as well known as Everest Base Camp and Kala Patthar, the views of Mount Everest from Gokyo Ri are said to surpass those from Kala Patthar. Other peaks that you can see from Gokyo Ri include Mount Cho Oyo (8,153m), Mount Makalu (8,475m) and Mount Lhotse (8,511m).
The other highlight of this trip is the Ngozumba Glacier, the longest glacier in Nepal that is also the source of the lakes in the Gokyo Valley. The best months for this trek are from September to December and February to May.

The Tamang Heitage Trails is a new trekking trail that offers the Himlalayan life style, culture and their society. The trail follows through traditional Tamang villages where culture, their lifestyle and crafts have remained unaltered since the beginning of the settlement. Tamang Heritage trail trekking begins either from Dhunche or Syabrubesi and passes through Goljung, Gatlang, Chilime, Thuman, Timure and Briddim. Goljung and Gatlang are traditional Tamang villages. Goljung has ancient monastery and Gatlang set high on a slope around terraced fields is the Tamang settlement where we can visit a Tamang monastery and the lovely Parvatikunda Lake. The surrounding perspective of delightful mountains like Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Himal, Sanjen Himal awaits at Bahundanda, the viewpoint situated near these settlements.
