The Christmas & New Year's Eastern Highlights Tour with Expat Explore was an unforgettable experience, offering a perfect blend of festive charm, cultural discovery, and breathtaking scenery. At times, it felt like stepping into a fairy tale or being inside a snow globe, with picturesque landscapes, twinkling lights, and charming old towns covered in snow. Our guide, Mica, was truly exceptional—organized, knowledgeable, and incredibly empathetic. She made sure everyone felt comfortable while ensuring a smooth and well-paced journey. Our driver, Alex, was fantastic as well, navigating long distances with skill and safety, making the journey stress-free. One of the highlights of the tour was experiencing the Christmas markets across different countries. Each market had its own unique charm, from the festive decorations to the delicious seasonal treats, making the holiday spirit even more magical. We had an amazing trip over Christmas and New Year. It was very fast paced so be prepared. You will see and experience a lot. We made new friends and enjoyed every minute of it. We will be travelling with Expat again.

Three of us girlfriends decided it was time for an Italian cultural recharge, and we picked the rail tour to hit the highlights with ease. We explored Rome and saw the Coloseum as we opted for an optional tour. Florence was also beautiful. Venice was pure magic. Our shared gondola ride under the Bridge of Sighs (with just six in the gondola) felt cozy and unforgettable . We spent afternoons discovering boutique shops and colorful squares. For us, this tour struck the perfect balance. Relaxed evenings with wine and laughter. The train travel was a breeze, everything was well-coordinated.

Our Italian Indulgence Tour with Back Roads in Oct 24 was an outstanding trip and a wonderful experience. We travelled with a likeminded group and two outstanding guides who enjoyed many of the same things we did (Italian food, wine, culture and scenery) and we stayed in some amazing places including a castle and a grand hotel right on the water at Lake Maggiore. The tour was just the right amount of travelling, exploring, culture (highlight was the truffle hunting) and practical immersion in Italian culture (another highlight the cooking class). It was not too taxing, and the hotels were well located for our own exploration in the evenings. I would thoroughly recommend this tour for an introduction or a more in-depth experience of all things Italian.
