Rome 14-Day Tours and Trips

Excellent, interesting tour, amazing scenery and visiting some wonderful places like Lucca my absolutely favourite place on the tour. We stayed in some really nice interesting hotels though I wasn’t that keen on Villa Pitiana in Tuscany. Lots of faded grandeur and an uncomfortable bed. I don’t mind old hotels at all but the bedroom I had at Villa Pitiana was gloomy and most unwelcoming and the bathroom was not great. The Villa was in need of major refurbishment and too far away from anything. I would have preferred three nights in Lucca to explore some more. A few people on the tour felt the same. I also really liked Rapallo and would have enjoyed more time there. Silvia was a wonderful guide.So knowledgeable, helpful and great personality. Our driver Gaetano was friendly and a skilful, safe driver. They made a great team.

I liked the places we visited. Accomodation was excellent and all rooms were well appointed. We stayed 2 nights at Vill Pitiana and I felt that the meal choices..2 were very limited and not great value for the price. ( perhaps a pasta option as well!) .As I previously stated this was my first tour and I had a lot of questions, that Helio dealt with very patiently. We appreciated all the work that he put for all of us on the tour…..from sightseeing and many restaurant suggestions to much information about every place we visited. I cannot praise Helio enough. Our bags were left at the hotel on the first night and Helio sorted it out promptly with much apologies. We did not consider this as a big deal as it was sorted and these things happen. One other suggestion is that you make it very clear on your brochures that not everyone will have exactly the same views as everyone elseevery night. This may seem obvious, but we had a couple complaining on the bus to Helio and everyone else felt a bit awkward. I understand that you can’t have 9 rooms with the same view and we thought all the views were great. Helio dealt with it very professionally. I liked the mix of sightseeing as a group and them being able to go off on our own.

great pace - we not rushed at all and had plenty of time juts to wander and relax. We did not spend too much time on the bus which was excellent but when we did our tour guide was so informative that it made the time go quickly.

Gustavo was incredible. His knowledge on each country and his experiences were obvious as he guided us through. Honestly such a legend and deserves a massive thank you and appreciation.

This was the best way for someone who has never traveled to Europe before to experience the beauty and wonders to be found on this continent. Having everything planned out and taken care of for you made everything so easy and stress free! You just show up and enjoy everything there is to offer. Our tour leader, Steve, was in a word, magnificent! Extremely knowledgeable about the histories and cultures of all the places we visited as well as patient, kind and very helpful! Our coach driver, Ivo, did an amazing job navigating us all across Europe. That guy can really drive!! He did an excellent job and got us everywhere we needed to go quickly and safely. He was always very pleasant and greeted you with a smile and asked how your day was going. The itinerary, while extremely packed and sometimes exhausting, it was amazing to be able to fit in as much as we did on this trip! It felt like we managed to do as much as you would do in a whole month in a matter of 14 days. The hotels were all nice, especially the Alpenrose in Switzerland. That hotel was so charming and gorgeous and you could not beat the views of the Swiss Alps just outside your window. The optional excursions were all really fun and engaging and added an immense amount of value to the tour. We went on just about every optional that was offered on this tour and we loved them all! Especially Jungfraujoch, which was an absolutely amazing once in a lifetime experience. We will definitely recommend Expat to others and will definitely be using them again sometime in the future.

My wife and I had a most wonderful time on this tour 13/10 to 24/10. Beatrice our Tour Leader (TL) was absolutely brilliant! She's knowledgeable, funny, always approachable and available to answer any questions or concerns. She genuinely cares, loves her job and is meticulously organized and well prepared which helped make our experience what it was. Gaetano, our driver, was outstanding and we always felt safe. The bus was clean and spacious enough for the 17 in our group to travel comfortably. The destinations visited were well paced, beautiful and we had enough free time at each for shopping and a bite to eat. The experiences (truffle hunt, wine and grappa tastings) along the way were also well planned and fun. It's called Blue-Roads for a reason becaus we got to see more of Italy this way. The accommodation was fantastic although some of us found that at this time off year (out of peak season) Some hotels had shut down their air-conditioning (cool function) and we had to leave our windows open for some reprieve. I must stress that this seems to be a common and standard thing in Italy as I also experienced this outside of the Tour. We thoroughly enjoyed this Tour made extra special by out TL, Driver and friends made along the way within our little group. Nick and Gail
