The Lemosho route on Mount Kilimanjaro goes parallel to the lower part of the Shira Route. The trail on the Lemosho Route is unspoiled, secluded and a very beautiful way up to the Shira Plateau. Above the plateau, you approach Kilimanjaro's great western Breach, then follow the south circuit to reach the easier Barafu Route. This is one of the few routes where an armed ranger will accompany us as there are still animals in the forest around the Lemosho Glades.
The Lemosho route will take 9 days in total. The route is the most scenic on the lower part as it goes directly through a rainforest area with wildlife. Later on, this route merges with the popular Machame route.
You can bring around 15 kgs of luggage for the trip. The porters will carry most of the 15 kgs, and you will yourself carry a small day-pack. As soon as you book with us, we will brief you further on luggage and trekking clothes.

Lemosho is our personal first favorite! It is widely considered to be the most picturesque route on Kilimanjaro, and we hold the same opinion. The trek starts from the heath and moorland at 3,400 m, passes through alpine meadow, and finishes in the Arctic zone with the Peak Uhuru. High-altitude drop-off makes the climb less steep and, therefore, less physically challenging. Two very short treks on Day 1 and Day 2 involve little physical activity and you barely trek uphill, which means you need less oxygen and your body can spare resources.

The Rongai route begins at the remote northern side of Kilimanjaro near the Kenyan border. We will be hiking through a true wilderness area towards the jagged Mawenzi Peak then cross a barren desert before climbing up Kibo’s eastern crater wall. The Rongai route is a more slow ascent and is therefore preferred by those with little or no backpacking experience but is equally enjoyable for even the most hardened Kilimanjaro climbers.
During the climb you will have 5 nights of full-service camping, with a private toilet tent. It. Was wonderful from start to finish. Hotels -excellent and it would have been even better to have a second day with the option of half-day relaxing by the pool r taking a guided nature walk. Food- very delicious and more than enough at each meal. We learned something new daily, be it about culture, history, animals of the area. We had options a few times, and we had safe guided safari rides every day. Our guides were responsive to all requests. Our group was small and we all brought bedding well which enhanced the trip.
