Honest insights from past guests on our South Korea tours

Kevin D. | Traveled in June

Strange you don’t ask about the tour guides. That was a problem, with 2 guides each time one for the Spanish speakers and one for the English speakers. Both trying to compete for time with microphone, clearly caused problems and confusion. The first day the English speaking guide level of English was very poor, we could not u destined her and she could not understand us. Monica was superb over the final 4 days. The problem you caused me on the penultimate day has still not been explained, although it was solved to our satisfaction.

Amazing trip! Fun and knowledgeable trip manage () and local guide was a gem. The trip had a good mix of free time and included activities/add-ons. Partly due to the size of the country, but enjoyed that not too much time was spent in transit between locations, so more time to explore at the destinations. Highly recommend!

This was a fabulous trip, due in no small part to our excellent tour guide Nikki. This really was a tremendous introduction to a lovely country that exceeded all expectations. Colourful, vibrant, steeped in history and super-friendly. The Koreans love to eat and food is a big part of their culture. The itinerary timings and evening meal arrangements could be improved to make for a more relaxing end to each day but that apart, it was a fantastic and memorable experience.

This trip is a fantastic mix of cultural, culinary and outdoor experiences. There were so many memorable highlights - the makgeolli making class, visiting the DMZ and having the opportunity to meet a North Korean defector, hiking in Namsan Mountain, the United Nations Memorial Cemetery, the Hahoe mask performance, spending half a day as a monk, and of course the food! This trip is very full on, but it’s crammed with memorable experiences and completely surpassed expectations .

I really liked this trip, though I wish we stayed in Busan for at least another night. Both the Contiki and Korean guides were great, there were a few add-ons in each city to choose from and I definitely feel like I learned more about Korea than if I'd gone to the country without doing a Contiki tour. Thank you Joey and Lina!

My daughter and I spent 9 days of this amazing trip in South Korea. Our main guide, Mr. Jade Kim, was absolutely amazing and made sure that we experienced a true taste of Korean culture, nature and cuisine. His insights and assistance only served to enrich the experience. The travel arrangements made were fantastic. It was well organized and they truly tried to curate a trip that reflected what we were seeking to get out of it.

Packing essentials for a trip to South Korea

For South Korea, pack a T-Money card for seamless use on subways, buses, and taxis. Korea’s high UV levels make strong sunscreen and a sun hat essential, especially in summer. Bring a portable Wi-Fi device or SIM card, as free Wi-Fi isn’t always reliable. Many restaurants provide metal chopsticks, so practicing with them helps. Pack a reusable tumbler, as many cafés offer discounts. A K-beauty shopping list is useful for navigating Seoul’s beauty stores. Lastly, a translation app helps with menus and signs, as English isn’t widely spoken in some areas.

Sustainable travel practices when visiting South Korea

Sustainable travel in South Korea starts with carbon-offsetting flights through airlines like Korean Air. While booking a tour with Bookmundi, your trip is automatically carbon offset from start to finish. Visitors can support sustainability initiatives like the GKL Foundation, which promotes eco-friendly and socially responsible tourism.
