South Korea Tour Reviews
Honest insights from past guests on our 9-Day South Korea tours
The tour was very good with a wide range of experiences across historic and modern South Korea. The visits to the War Memorial in Seoul and the UN War Cemetery in Busan were very moving. The tour director Sung was excellent, professional, diligent with an excellent command of English and knowledge of western customs and sense of humour. The driver, Mr Seo for the Andong to Busan sector was also excellent with exceptional driving skills and an engaging personality. We would recommend this tour to others. Suggested areas for improvement are as follows: •We did not receive the advance notification email from the tour director as we were on the move and the email went to our home email rather than our travel email. To cover all contingencies, it is suggested that a note from the tour director be left at the hotel to be passed on when Trafalgar guests check in. •It would have been preferably not to have two provided meals on the first day in Andong. The lunch spoilt our appetite for the exquisite Be My Guest dinner. •The hotels were above average for South Korea but the hot breakfast food was frequently cold and the practice of removing plates and placing the used cutlery on the table was considered to be unhygienic. •We had mixed feelings about the Novotel hotel in Seoul which seemed quite expensive and not good value for money. The breakfast sitting arrangements created intrusive monitoring. After a toilet blockage we were advised not to place toilet paper in the toilet. There were no signs to this effect nor something we would expect in a relatively new and expensive five- star hotel. •We were disappointed that the coaches used in Seoul had brown tinted side windows which distorted the colour of the scenery. •After leaving the tour we visited a number of areas in Seoul which could be included as options in future tours. oGangnam precinct around COEX Mall has a variety of sites to see oQuality craft souvenirs from Bukchon Hanok Village souvenir shop with an Observatory
I really enjoyed this trip. It was my third Topdeck tour and, sadly, my final one now that the age range has changed, but no hard feelings. The group dynamic on this tour was brilliant. Everyone clicked, everyone had fun, and we ended up with a great mix of people from the UK, US, Canada, and Australia. It genuinely felt like a proper adventure. Our guide, Marshall, made the experience unforgettable. His local knowledge didn’t just cover the itinerary, during our free time he always had ideas for places to explore, food to try, and hidden corners worth checking out. I’m a big history fan, and his insight was top-notch. I won’t forget my time in Korea with this amazing group. I couldn’t be happier with how the trip turned out, and I’d highly recommend Topdeck to anyone wanting to dive into Korean culture. You’ll have a fantastic and memorable time. Five stars from me! :D
Brian made our dream come true, he was a helpful, interesting and knowledgeable guide. He made our trip very interesting. It's a great way to see many sites and sides of Korea during this tour.
Brian, our tour guide did an excellent job during our stay in South Korea. Some of the land marks we visited include: Gyeongbokgung Palace, Demilitarized Zone, in Paju, War Memorial Museum in Seoul, Baekje Cultural Land, Jeonju Hanok Heritage Village, tea fields of Boseong, Nagan Folk Village, Seonamsa Temple, Suncheon Bay, Busan, Gyeongju Historic Areas, Samcheok, and Mount Seoraksan. We learned about the the history and customs in South Korea. We had an opportunity to see many temples and observatories there, which involved hiking most of the day. During our stay there, we took vintage photos and dressed in Hanbok, which I thought were wonderful experience. Hotel accommodation and food were great. South Korea is a beautiful country!
Our guide did an excellent job navigating us through the sites, these 10 days around Korea were amazing. There is so much to see and learn in South Korea and our guide Brian did a stellar job of showing us the highlights and more interesting aspects of the country and telling us interesting info we'd never have gotten otherwise.
I am extremely satisfied with this trip, which exceeded my expectations. We had a thoughtful and attentive tour guide Akihiko, making it an ideal choice for a solo traveler. The itinerary included nearly all the famous attractions, and the guide's engaging explanations provided a deeper understanding of the stories behind them. Thanks to my tour guide Owen, I highly recommend this trip to everyone!
