The Lares Trek offers a unique twist on the classic Peru hiking journey. Over seven days, trek through Andean mountains and remote villages, visiting a women’s weaving co-op and a pottery community for hands-on cultural exchanges. End with a scenic train ride to Machu Picchu, ensuring you don’t miss the region’s crown jewel. Specially designed for young adults and experienced trekkers, this trip’s standout feature is its blend of challenging mountain trails and authentic, engaging encounters with local communities—making for a truly immersive adventure beyond the ordinary.
I had an amazing time with Roger and the team. Our chef was highly talented, each meal was well thought out and delicious. Our team worked so hard to ensure everything was perfect, delivering hot water and coca tea tent side, they really went the extra mile to ensure we had the best experience. The trek was beautiful and quiet, I loved walking through the remote villages. Overall it was a great experience and I would recommend g-adventures to anyone!
I highly recommend the Lares Trek because of the gorgeous scenery and connections to the local communities along the way. We did not meet a single other tourist/hiker on this trip - only the alpacas and dogs that were being tended by local families, who all stopped to say hi to us. It was an incredibly challenging, but very moving experience!
The Lares trek was an incredible experience. The ability to trek through a beautiful Peruvian landscape for multiple days was both challenging and relaxing. It was so nice to not have to worry about food or tents, and to truly soak in the backpack experience without all the difficult planning/lugging heavy things aspect. It was also great to have the highlights of Machu Picchu and some time in Cusco!
It was amazing overall, and our trip had a great balance of activities. We felt we learned a lot about the culture and got to see so many things.
My experience with Raul, and our crew on the Lares Trek was above and beyond all expectations. Everyone was thoughtful, caring, and helpful. The entire experience in Peru was enlightening and exciting. I?d do it all again in a heartbeat.
