If Patagonia is calling your name, why not answer with a hike? This Patagonia Hiking trip is a nine-day adventure crafted for young adults and experienced travelers with a passion for challenging treks and epic vistas. Starting and ending in Buenos Aires, you’ll explore the wild heart of Argentina—El Chaltén’s rugged trails, the dramatic silhouette of Fitz Roy, and the icy majesty of the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Expect days filled with invigorating hikes through untamed landscapes, evenings swapping stories with fellow adventurers, and moments of awe beneath Patagonia’s vast skies. In between, discover the cosmopolitan flair of Buenos Aires, adding urban excitement to your journey.
The tour’s unique selling point is its focus on active exploration—trekking through some of South America’s most legendary wilderness, offering both physical challenge and the thrill of triumphant achievement.
This trip is a great way to experience Patagonia especially if you are not interested in just hiking since the other included activities are a kayak tour, and a trip to see the Perito Moreno Glacier. The tour includes only one guided hike so if you are interested in more hiking, you can sign up for the "Hike Patagonia In Depth" tour which is the same tour as Patagonia Hiking, but also extends to the W Trek. The included guided hike is long, but do-able if you are fairly fit and aren't an avid hiker because only the last hour and a half to the top is the tough part with a very steep incline. This also means that there is a steep decline on the way down with a strong potential for slipping on rocks. Hiking poles were recommended and easy to rent in town the night before the hike. At least right now, Patagonia is stupid expensive so be prepared to shell out a lot of money on a daily basis. Just to go on an optional hike is $45 and that is not a guided hike, that's just the cost of park entry to go on the hike. Overall, a lovely tour and a great way to experience Patagonia with a variety of activities.
I got what I came for. It was physically challenging for me on the big hike to Mount Fitzroy (that walk was rated 4/5, but could be a 5/5 in my view): however, there is no gain without some pain! Overall, it was a memorable experience.
G adventures took the pain out of organising a big trip like ours. The site gives great detail of what to expect before you pay a cent. We had a detailed itinerary provided to us by the G Adventures App, as well as from our guide (Jose, Nacho, Astrada) so we knew it would meet our style of travel. The included activities (and optional) gave us opportunity to experience spectacular hikes, kayaking, horse riding and more. We think about Patagonia almost every day since coming home!
Without exaggerating, this was the best trip I have ever been on. From the activities, to the food, culture and people, I would recommend this trip to anyone. I have spoken to several people since returning who are looking to go to Patagonia and I have recommended this tour, or parts of this tour specifically. It was an incredible experience and I am looking forward to my next adventure with G!
