This 8-day trekking journey is especially favored for its outstanding acclimatization profile and sweeping vistas, including stops at Lava Tower, Barranco Camp, and Karanga Camp. The route’s unique approach starts with a high-altitude drop-off, allowing you to immediately immerse yourself in the alpine zone, skipping the first night at Shira 1 Camp for those on the 6-day itinerary. The Lemosho trek boasts the highest success rate among all 6-day routes, with about 80% of climbers reaching the summit. What truly differentiates this Kilimanjaro tour package is its harmonious combination of challenging adventure, spectacular scenery, and maximized chances for summiting, making it an exceptional choice for fit travelers seeking both excitement and achievement.
For a truly panoramic Kilimanjaro experience, the Lemosho Route stands out as the most beautiful and rewarding option available. Approaching from the west, trekkers begin with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate, followed by two days traversing the lush rainforest en route to the Shira Ridge.
The route is known for its low traffic in the early stages, merging with the Machame Route later on, and follows the southern circuit past landmarks like Lava Tower, Barranco, and Barafu. Spanning eight days, this itinerary is designed to maximize acclimatization and your chances of reaching the summit with ease.
Trekkers are treated to sweeping views from various sides of Kilimanjaro, with the chance to spot wildlife in the forest zone. Though slightly more expensive than other routes due to the longer duration and logistics, the Lemosho Route’s unique selling point is its perfect balance of scenic vistas, minimal crowds, and a high summit success rate. This tour package is highly recommended for anyone seeking a comprehensive Kilimanjaro trekking adventure.
Zara Tours leads treks up the unique Rongai Route known to be more scenic than the Marangu Route, easier than the Machame Route, and the success rate on the Rongai is very high. Unlike the Marangu Route where you sleep in huts, on the Rongai you sleep in tents (tents are included), and our porters will pitch your tent for you. Meals are served in a dinner tent or on a blanket outside.
The Kilimanjaro Rongai route starts on the north side of the mountain just south of the Kenyan border, and is one of the least traveled routes. The Rongai route joins the Marangu route before the summit climb, then you descend the Marangu Route on the mountain's southeast side.
Summit Africa’s highest peak via the iconic '7 Days Machame Route,' a Kilimanjaro trekking adventure designed for families and experienced hikers alike. Nicknamed the 'Whiskey' route, Machame offers steeper, more scenic ascents compared to the Marangu route, with highlights including the Shira Plateau, Lava Tower, and the striking Barranco Wall. The itinerary features longer trekking days and challenging elevation, rewarding climbers with breathtaking landscapes and a sense of accomplishment. This trip’s unique selling point is its stunning variety of scenery and the adventure of conquering Kilimanjaro’s less-traveled paths—making it ideal for those seeking both challenge and beauty.
The route Umbwe is almost parallel to Machame. The two treks merge at Barranco camp.
It is one of the shortest routes of Kili, frequently chosen by the groups who like “classic” routes, but do not favor overcrowded Machame. The climb starts at 1600 m point and traverses all climatic zones of Kilimanjaro. It is not frequented by travelers, but it is comparatively inexpensive. Climbers with good physical preparation may like.
Kindly note, that this route has great views but it is the most difficult way to reach the summit. Altitude acclimatization is not good due to the rapid ascent. Hence, it is recommended only to experienced hikers in good physical shape.
