day 1 - Amman, Jordan
Upon landing at Amman (AMM) airport, you'll be greeted by your driver who will transport you directly to your hotel in Amman, approximately a 40-minute journey. There are no scheduled activities for the day, allowing you ample time to settle in. Note that hotel check-in is generally after 2:00 pm, and while early check-in cannot be assured, the hotel offers luggage storage for early arrivals.
day 2 - Amman-Jerash-Beida, Jordan
Today, embark on a journey north to explore Jerash, a remarkable Roman city in the Middle East. Established during the era of Alexander the Great, Jerash prospered for nearly a millennium as a bustling trade hub between Damascus and Petra. The city's colonnaded avenues remain largely unscathed, alongside the stunning oval forum and the arch celebrating Emperor Hadrian's visit. The theatre, temples, baths, and hippodrome boast impressive preservation, complemented by exquisite Byzantine mosaic floors from the early Christian era.
Savor your lunch at a local restaurant in Jerash.
Following this, proceed to Amman, the vibrant capital of Jordan, known for its eclectic neighborhoods, hospitable locals, and delectable food. Begin at the citadel to appreciate the panoramic views and explore remnants of Roman and early Islamic periods. Downhill lies the Roman theatre, constructed under Emperor Antonius, now intertwined with modern Amman and hosting cultural and musical festivities. Stroll through bustling markets, perhaps pausing at a café to absorb the vibrant street life, observe locals playing backgammon, and indulge in Arabic coffee and pastries. Seize this opportunity to enjoy the fragrant smoke of the argeelah or hubbly bubbly.
Conclude your day at Beida for an overnight stay.
day 3 - Beida-Petra-Beida, Jordan
Embark on a remarkable trek into Petra via a breathtaking, less-traveled Bedouin trail that winds through the mountains. The adventure starts with a few hours traversing open farmland, then continues along a path carved in weathered sandstone. As you progress, sweeping vistas of the Great Rift Valley unfold to the west. An hour later, the trail descends towards the iconic city, revealing one of Petra's most magnificent structures: the colossal, rock-carved Monastery, ad Deir. Take a break to enjoy tea and explore the ancient ruins. You'll then navigate down the Nabataean processional steps into Petra's core, weaving through its renowned temples and tombs. Exit through the hidden slot canyon, known as 'the Dark Siq,' then double back to re-enter Petra via the famous main siq, ultimately arriving at the Treasury, Petra’s most celebrated monument. This comprehensive itinerary offers an unforgettable day of hiking, allowing exploration of both iconic approaches to the ancient city in one day. After lunch, you will be transported to your overnight stay at a Bedouin camp in Beida.
SAFETY NOTE: Depending on your physical condition, the rainy season, and the current state of the Dark Siq, your guide may choose an alternate route.
day 4 - Beida-Wadi Rum-Rum Village-Amman, Jordan
After breakfast, you'll journey to Wadi Rum, a mesmerizing desert landscape famously described by T.E. Lawrence of Arabia for its vast and awe-inspiring terrain. The Bedouin guides from the Howeitat tribe, the very tribe that once led Lawrence, will escort you from Rum Village into the heart of this stunning desert by jeep. You'll spend the morning amidst Wadi Rum's majestic mountains and towering sand dunes, pausing to marvel at the ancient rock inscriptions. Following a refreshing picnic lunch in the tranquil shade, you'll return to Rum village and meet your driver for the journey back to Amman, where you'll stay overnight at a hotel.
day 5 - Amman, Jordan
A group transfer service will be arranged from your hotel to AMM Airport, which is approximately a 40-minute drive. We extend our heartfelt wishes for a safe trip back home and eagerly anticipate the pleasure of welcoming you again in Jordan.
